G-Mail: lifeismeals@gmail.com
Link to Ledger: BK's Ledger

Character Name: Nym Chon
Alias: Mouse, Mickey, Basil
Role: Net-Runner
Role Ability: Interface/4
Unspent IP: 0
Sentiments/Mega-Corps: What's the point of mice trying to talk to a combine harvestor?
Sentiments/Lawmen: Cats. Mange afflicted, family tree that looks like a stump, fat and oily, dirty cats.
Sentiments/Solos: the help hired to clean up the outside of the house.
Sentiments/Fixers: the help hired to manage the help.
Sentiments/Nomads: Field mice. They are good at avoiding combine harvestors, gardening equipment, lawn mowers, groundskeepers and gardeners
Sentiments/NUSA: An permanently embarassed farmer who has lost most of his farm
Sentiments/Night City: The big circus. A place where mice can do bizz, trascend their verminy self and possibly belionized, if they live long enough...
Sentiments/Gangs:
  • 6th Street: Jingoistic camo totting vermin whom, out of trauma, fell in love with the past and refuse to acknowledge the future.
  • Animals: Muscle Queen Rats. Adulation of Meat is no less peculiar than Adulation of Chrome...
  • Maelstrom: Chromy Rats. Ditto as above. Crazier than their shit house brethen.
  • Barghest: Scary military outfit full of Militech armed Rats. Their leader is a real honey badger.
  • Tyger Claws: Human trafficking, Japanese belching, Nice Car/Bike driving, Sex work mongering, shit house rats. Plus they are owned by Arasaka
  • Valentinos: Heywood's own family ratking that own legal and illegal entities, catering to the local mice. As mice go, they think themselves honorable.
  • The Mox: Enforcers for sex traffickers. As pimps go, they are better than most. As mice go, they are still to be avoided.
  • Voodoo Boys: These mother eaters are the worst kind of shitheels on the net. Be on guard when they are in net space.
Disposition: Conversational, Warm. However Nym can come off as rather sheltered. They try not to be oblivious and are doing their best to fit in.

Everyone starts with 62 points and allocate them between your attributes (INT, REF, DEX, TECH, COOL, WILL, LUCK, MOVE, BODY, EMP)
The minimum per stat is 2, the maximum is 8. (Average is 6)
See pg 72 for definitions on each stat. See pg 78 for rules on buying stat points.

*
You can spend LUCK points before making a roll to improve your chances. Each point spent adds +1 to a skill check, attack, or any d10 roll. It's not tied to any specific stat or skill—LUCK applies universally.
LUCK recovers over the course of a long, peaceful rest. (8hrs, uninterrupted)
Track Remaining Value as it is used on your Conditions tab or in your signature.

**
Starting Humanity = EMP × 10 (e.g., EMP 6 → Humanity = 60)

Each cyberware implant has a Humanity Loss value (e.g., -4, -7, -10). This value is subtracted from your Humanity.

As Humanity decreases below each threshold of #0, your effective EMP may drop: From 6 to 5.

Your Total EMP is your original stat.

Your Remaining EMP is your current effective value, based on remaining Humanity.

Background
The Church of the Immaculate Corpus is a Post Christian, Post 4th Corporate War Religious Organization that took tenets from many other religions, threw in equal parts class distinction, eugenics, post war scarcity. And elitism. Heaps and heaps of it.

The tenants of worship are quite simple. Those within the religious organization are to be treated justly. One does not steal, assault, speak badly or even have bad thoughts against ones own. Only good thoughts, good words and good thoughts when interacting with members of the community. When one's brethen is down, the others are expected to help them. When one is doing well, one is expected to carry forth others to higher plateaus of success. The goal is to have the most accomplished members of the church sire the bulk of the offspring in vitro. The church combines the gametes of 10 individuals, 5 men and 5 women. The goal is to make better children, and then place them in the care of church couples who are devoted to raising the child and pushing them into well placed positions within Night City's social hierarchy. Those that didn't belong to the church were simply fair game.

By the time Nym was concieved, their parents had infiltrated Night Corp and well on their way into middle management. The plan was simple. Nym's Parents, Richard and Maureen, would reach the top of middle management. Other members of the church, those of whom were for one reason or another under appreciated by the world, but found the true value of themselves within the sanctum of the church, would be recast again, this time to a threshold that would actually reflect their worth.

And so Richard and Maureen Chivers-O'Neill helped their fellow brethen. Over the next five years, Richard and Maureen hired their own, promoted their own and eventually, one of theirs was promoted above them. For that triumph, they were given the highest honor, to sire a child of their own flock.

Nicholas Yvonne Chivers-O'Neil was born 10 pounds, 7 ounces. They were a healthy baby, ten fingers and ten toes, yet they were an anomaly. In the Church's fervor to sire the master race, their geneticists made a mistake. Or it may have been random chance, by Nicholas had ovaries and testes, albeit both sets of organs were underformed. Still, the church doctors opted not to perform any sex alteration surgery, as all children born under the blessed process were holy and perfect. Nicholas was to be raised without regard to gender. Within the Church compound, they were allowed to use any restroom, dress however they felt like, play with whatever kind of toy or whatever kind of sport. When they were ready to commit to either gender, then the Church would follow their decision and go from there.

Nicholas went to one of the finest schools in the area. They excelled academically. By age eleven, they were several grades ahead. The future looked bright for Nicholas. However, as they grew older, both sets of sexual organs began to develop anomalously. Their endocrine system was one of one, nobody else had a similar documented case in the last fifty years. With this flaw, it is unlikely that Nicholas would ever be able to have children of their own. Because of this, the Church gifted Richard and Maureen another child, this time a daughter, so that one day they may become grand parents. Nicholas never decided to commit to either gender, instead choosing to be intersexed for life.

Nicholas were approaching 16, having finished the accelerated secondary education curriculum some time ago, but their parents deemed that they were still too young to venture out to University. So the Church decided to send Nicholas to Gauss College, University of Gottingen to begin advanced studies in Bio Engineering. Nicholas always understood that they would perform for the church as their parents, and landing a prestigious degree was but a first step in ensuring their utility to the Church and fulfill their duty to the Great Singularity. (One of the Church tenets was that while Christ could be re-incarnated into a man several thousand years ago, it would make more sense in this day and age for Christ to be re-incarnated into an all powerful, all knowing, altruistic AI. As church members they were expected to bring forth this incarnation by any means necessary, and then through their actions, fulfill the grand destiny of this being bringing forth a post scarcity society.) The study abroad program went for two years, where Nicholas would periodically visit home every six months or so.

Then one day, on their 18th birthday, they headed back to Night City, only to arrive back to the corporate residencies with their parents condo partially cleared out. Frantically hunting around, there was no note, no messages left for them. Their family could not be found. Looking to other church members for aid, they were nowhere to be found as well. It seemed like the entire congregation had left. Then Nicholas discovered soon after that their credentials to the corporate living campus had been deactivated. Since their parents were probably dismissed after disappearing from work, Nicholas became homeless over night.

Stumbling through their contacts, Nicholas found an old email of an older friend who had left the church quietly. They tried to reach out, but the email bounced. Not knowing what else to do, they took whatever little money they had and ventured to Kabuki for cheaper lodging until they can find work.

Nicholas was clearly distraught. They had no idea what was going on. Suddenly, their phone lit up. It was their old friend Samuel. Samuel arranged for a meet during the day at the Subway station at Allen Street South, along with a cryptic message: "Let's talk more in person. See you at 2:00PM." Nicholas managed to secure a rented room at Charter Street for a few nights. At their current burn rate, they could last in night city for about three weeks. They dropped off their possessions and went to look for Samuel.

Samuel Little was a bit older now, well into his twenties. His kept appearance while he was with the church community was a vague memory. Sporting cyberware, tattoos and well manicured neo kitsch attire, Nicholas and Samuel looked very much like an odd pair. Samuel shook hands with Nicholas, then gently leaned in: "We need to get off this street immediately!" Without further ado, they walked briskly onto a train, and then switch trains, and then switched trains again. Finally, they disappeared into the crowds of the Kabuki market.

Samuel Little grabbed Nicholas's hand and slowly explained. Night Corp had found out about the Church, as did Militech, Arasaka, Biotechnica and Kang Tao. The Corps vengeance was swift. Those who were not hunted down and summarily tortured and executed fled to the winds, taking whatever they could take with them. The church as it was in Night City, is no more. Samuel had heard that Nicholas's parents managed to find safe passage to Atlanta, but he had no idea where they landed exactly. Nicholas was very grateful. At least their family was safe. Now it would take some resources and time to find them.

Samuel looked upon his old church buddy with a sad smile. He said "You know, they didn't so much as leave you a note. Maybe it's time you found your footing first before you worried about them. I share an apartment with a few folks who left the church. By day, I work at this cyberdeck shop debugging old code and fixing consoles. By night, I do jobs for Verbal."

"Whose Verbal?" asked Nicholas

"Verbal is a Net running buddy and a pretty good teacher."

So for the next few years, Nicholas apprenticed under Samuel who apprenticed under Verbal. Over time, Samuel grew out of his role as an apprentice and wanted to start his own crew. With Verbal's blessing, Samuel started running with B@d when working in the city and then sometimes with a mystery runner named 8ug8ear when he was working in Westbrook. Meanwhile, Nicholas saved up enough to change their name and their appearance. Their previous life grew more and more to be a fading memory. No longer were they Nicholas the privileged gifted engineering student, but Nym Chon the up and coming net runner. Nym estbablished their own contacts over time, slowly but surely working freelance with other edgerunners. As time went on, Verbal's tutelage came less and less, and then one day, he simply finished his last gig and announced his retirement to the rest of the crew.

As the crew grew leaderless, one member after another drifted away. Nym was alone again, but now, they are more capable than they ever were. And they need to find their little sister, so that she may be rescued from whatever sordid fate their parents would most likely draw her into.
