“I am Guardian. I was a member of The Omegas, briefly. I died went to hell, and I apparently was then given the punishment of saving humanity from itself. A fruitless inescapable torment that I will endure for eternity. So I have decided to not only accept it, but enthusiastically embrace it. I am awaiting someone to punch. I am hoping you can assist me with the endeavor of finding said someone.”
"There is a strong chance we will encounter someone who needs punching before the crown is recovered, if we can find them."
"In this business there is always someone that needs to be punched." Dawn says happily. man this guy has been through the ringer. Well he is here and that is a good start. the mutant thinks.
"Sinner-G. Noted. Well met. What do we know of the capabilities of this Crimson King and his Knights?"
"We may get a hold of the ones who collared them for one. Crimson King is an Extradimensional tyrant and supervillain in Grammercy. if it helps I can send a request to sector 10 should detective Green and Sector Squad not be able to help us. Sector Squad of sector 10 collared him. I did message them already. The basics we do have is he is teleporter and mind control. in addition reported to have Life-force assimilation, energy control and manifestation (blasts, blades, maces), protective fields, heightened senses and high durability." Dawn says.
"The good news is at last check Crimson king is in Gramercy. My theory as it is until we see something concrete is he has help or a his stuff was targeted by another. on his file it states he is part of or founded a group called the knights of the red table. I suspect them to be involved. Even if the Knights do not like him Teleportation and Mind control are powers worth having on your crew. Though that is not my only guess, just the one that at this point makes sense. its that or someone wanted the crown. Either is a a bad sign." she says with a shrug.
"I am hoping Detective Green and Mahoney can give us a bone to work with." the mutant shrugs, "Sinner-G do your check and lets see Detective green. He can help confirm your findings and answer a few questions from us as well." she adds.
Once all the team are done their things she seeks out Detective Green.
With the good detective:
"Detective Green, Agent Dawn breaker. Sector 10. good to meet and work with you." Dawn says. Lets hope this guy knows something. more importantly is willing to say what he knows. the mutant thinks to herself.
Questions she will ask in a polite and neutral tone. careful not imply her thoughts:
Who was on watch that night?
Have there been any shift changes in the museum staff lately?
any Odd personality changes among the staff of late?
Any people that seem to be stranger than usual observing the 'Instruments of Doom' exhibit before the incident?
Have there been any strange occurrences at the museum?

A being of varying threats."He is a feckless being. Calls himself a King but preys upon the weak-willed so that he can control them rather than lead. He reeks of the desperation of a Tyrant. I believe I have heard an expression among humans. 'Sic Semper Tyrannus.' 'Thus Always with Tyrants.' 'Πάντα Τύραννος λοιπόν' is how we would say it on Olympus. We share the same sentiments towards Tyranny."I will enjoy breaking this miscreant.

If it is another attempting a power grab, I will enjoy breaking them just as much.

Guardian stands behind her in brooding contemplation. Occasionally a spark of purple energy crosses his eyes.
EDIT: I thought this was an active ability but it isn't. SO I think they have to roll in my presence.
The superbeing radiates an aura of power that stops people in their tracks. Everyone encountering/facing this character, even if he/she is attractive, must roll a 20-sided die to save vs Horror Factor.
A successful save is a roll higher than the H.F. and means the defender is not impressed and may attack without hesitation. He does not have to roll to save again until their next confrontation/meeting.
A failed roll means the individual loses initiative and one of his melee attacks for that round, and is the last to attack. He must roll again next melee round. Another failed roll means the same penalties are repeated.

Shazbut spends some time communing with the Lord of Legumes. He has a song sung to him about beans, after which he receives a present and stashes it in his very special Shoshone pouch. At the end of their conversation, Nuba nods and says "Fava accepts your reasoning and forgives you. I also think Fava is quite special."
He checks the walls and finds that he is able to vibrate through them with ease. That is certainly a way the suspect could have come in.
He heads downstairs with Nuba Sando in tow, and observes Barricade interacting with the security chief while searching for clues. Shazbut's request for computer access has been granted and he begins typing away like a madman. A few moments later, he discovers that whoever created this loop for the camera did not do it remotely, as there were no signs of connection to any IP address outside of the museum. The code he is able to read indicate a physical device (maybe a drive, maybe something else) that sent the signal locally. Given that there was no IP address connection, the device must have been plugged in to the camera!
During his interrogation of the security staff, he gets mostly the same answers.
"I was on patrol and I didn't see or hear nuthin. No alarms or glass or nuthin." "The cameras were working fine. I was on watch duty and not even a spider crawled across the floor." "No idea how this could have gotten past us."
The security staff all seem to understand how serious this event is and Shazbut doesn't detect any falsehoods or other strangeness.
Dawnbreaker gets a less than helpful answer from the officer she's speaking with. "On duty? Ma'am, I am a police officer being paid to be a glorified door person. I am the last person you should be asking that question to." And with that, she gets back to her job and leaves you to yours. Looking around the room, Dawnbreaker notices the layout of the room, square with one opening that she just entered through, cutaway from floor to ceiling. This being the only way in or out. She notices a camera in each corner aiming into the room. Looking around, she does not see any signs of entry. No recently/hastily patched walls, no large floor drains or air vents, nothing. Then she runs into...
Guardian notices the recent Omegas from their suits and greets them. Getting caught up to speed quickly, he proves ready for action of the head-busting variety. He is asked about the Crimson King and the Knights of the Red Table, but nothing comes to mind.
Sinner-G gets back to work and tries tracking down the errant noise but the distraction from the Young God was too much for his super-senses. While he waits for the light ringing in his ear to die down, he turns and asks two very different questions to the Young God, who doesn't miss a beat replying. "Well! Li Heimao says it smelled fishy but she's a cat so she was probably just hungry! rongo the lesser has been over there shining his light for damn ever! Still ain't found nuthin', have ya rongo?" The grey armored man look up at the shorter Young God you are with, nods, and gets back to his task."And no longer offers belief?! You really believe that?! Ha! Then have I got a sect to sell you!"
Maia has been spotted, but it seems that this is a good thing. The befeathered god creates miniature weather inside of the museum, causing tiny rain clouds to form around Maia. The microprecipitation soothes her periderm, bringing moisture and life to the various parts that create and complete her. Once it reaches her roots, it is drawn back up into the air to repeat the cycle. The watering has begun. The Young God seems very content with his place in this process. There are some folks wondering why a man is watering their personal authority figure, but they can work that out when they get home. Or in therapy.
After some chat, Dawnbreaker gets Guardian and Sinner-G to come along to meet Detective Green. "Great the supes are here. Detective C. Green, the CSI. We've already trampled over everything, so evidence collection is going to be... well, bullshit is what. We've found nothing, we've gotten nothing of interest from the workers... I'm at a loss." She turns to finally look at the heroes present and asks "What've you got?" When she hears Dawnbreaker's questions, she fires off her answers quickly.

The security staff all seem to understand how serious this event is and Shazbut doesn't detect any falsehoods or other strangeness.
As Shazbut's fingers dance across the keyboard, he wonders at his amnesia regarding his life before earth. How do I knows how to do this? What else is swimming around in Shazbut's head that I no remember? he thinks.
"Bingo," he murmurs, and a triumphant skunky grin spreads across his face. "Yes they looped the cameras. And they no do it remotely either!"
He points to some technical mumbo-jumbo onscreen. "See this thing? They plugged something in, right into a camera. A drive, maybe?" He looks up at the head of security and Barricade.
The skunk asks the head of security a buncha questions. "You said these cameras are a closed-loop system. Are the cameras wired or wireless? And that means they have plug-in ports, yes? Which cameras have the plug-in ports? All of them or just one place?" He asks, his voice sharp and focused. "Because that's where Mr Sneaky was standing when he fiddled with your security feed."
These sneaks can't fix every camera in the area. Maybes we need to check outside the museum?
Shazbut tries to determine a timestamp in the tampering, which might give the team a more precise time for the theft. Then he asks Barricade, and/or some fancy cops with access a question. "This is 2043! Cameras are everywhere. Even those little doorbell cameras peoples have. Any chance we can get a look at traffic footage around here, say, before and after the time the cameras were looped? If they didn't fly in, teleport, or already have someone on the inside, maybe we be lucky and spot their ride?"
"I check the cameras and wiring out. You maybes want some fancy forensic cop soon. At least you can tell him they plugged something in somewhere. I go see if I can narrow it down some more."
With the locations of the accessible cameras now firmly in mind, Shazbut zips off, a blur of motion. He half-hopes, against all odds, if the gadget that make the camera loop is still be plugged in, we have a smoking gun left behind by the sneaks! He knows it's a long shot, but the skunk is a dreamer if nothing else. He carefully examines each camera, noting the presence of the access ports, but refrains from touching anything, respecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Then he shifts his focus to the wiring. If these cameras are wired, he activates his intangibility and anti-gravity flight, phasing through walls and ceilings with ease. He follows each wire, tracing its path through the museum's infrastructure. He peers above ceiling tiles, slips beneath floorboards, and passes through the inner workings of the walls, his keen eyes searching for any signs of tampering. Any splices, any added devices, any deviation from the standard wiring configuration. He is a skunky ghost in the museum, a silent seeker of the museum's hidden arteries.
Shazbut sings softly to himself in the Shoshoni language whilst snooping in ceiling cavities and under floors.
Singing 82%:

Looking for sneaky ports!

Pluggy pluggy plug, pluggy pluggy plug!
The ports on the cam go pluggy pluggy plug,
To loop the cameras round!
The thieves in the night go sneaky sneaky sneak,
Sneaky sneaky sneak, sneaky sneaky sneak!
The thieves in the night go sneaky sneaky sneak,
And steal the magic crown!
The skunk on the case goes sniffy sniffy sniff,
Sniffy sniffy sniff, sniffy sniffy sniff!
The skunk on the case goes sniffy sniffy sniff,
To catch the sneaky things!"
If Shazbut finds anything of note, he reports to Barricade and guides and forensic cop to the possible access points, of which he hopes there are few. If we lucky, maybe the sneaky thief left prints or dropped hair? It works on Colombo!
Given the skunk's speed, he might return before the other heroes make their way to the basement. Then he looks at whatever tidbits of information he might have gleaned from the time of the camera intrusion and the location of potential camera ports to determine what direction the thieves might have entered the building and when.

"Alright, so here's what we've got," Shazbut thinks, pacing thoughtfully. "They're physical. They had to be, to plug that device directly into the cameras. So they show up on camera, somewhere, sometime. And they shy about us getting a good look at 'em. Which makes me wonder... why? Are they not as tough as they'd like to be? Well maybe not, they need a super crown don't they? Are they worried we'll find some kind of weakness if we know who they are? Or... are they someone we would recognise? Someone… well-known?" He pauses, his green eyes gleaming. "Hmm. This is getting very interesting."
Sinner-G quirks a slight smile, "In this case, I happen to agree with your feline acquaintance, there does seem to be something that smells fishy here...though that is a metaphorical statement not a physical one. Perhaps I will have to discuss things with Li Niemae."
When they speak to Detective Greene, Gideon responds, "I have not personally found much yet, but I think there is something there to find. I was interrupted before I finished and have paused to rest my senses a bit before trying again. We have others checking the museum security systems, I should check with them."
So saying, he will try his communicator.

Curious metaphor, is he saying something that 'smells fishy' is suspect. What if it is a fish. Am I to assume that all fish are considered suspect on this planet? What could have fish done to become so universally untrusted? These humans seem to be completely off the rails in terms of their symbolism. That doesn't bode well for me.
Guardian follows his new companions, observing the surroundings, but he is obviously distracted. How fortunate to stumble upon this crime with what appeared to be trained detectives amongst the Omegas. Fortunate indeed, but I am concerned that whatever dastardly plans the thief has, they have already progressed to the next phase, as we attempt to stumble upon their identity. Hopefully, the constabulary of this place will give us what we need to decimate this threat.

When they speak to Detective Greene, Gideon responds, "I have not personally found much yet, but I think there is something there to find. I was interrupted before I finished and have paused to rest my senses a bit before trying again. We have others checking the museum security systems, I should check with them."
Although he is interested in the report to Sinner-G, he is distracted by the exchange between Dawn Breaker and Detective Green.
Dawn Breaker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2025 8:52 amHave there been any shift changes in the museum staff lately?
"They change shifts all the time. No one works 24/7. But if you mean personnel or scheduling changes, that's a great question for the security chief."
Detective, I believe Dawn Breaker was asking if the crime occurred on or around a shift change, not whether or not shifts ever change.I am unsure if this detective is inept of hostile towards Dawn Breaker.

Indeed, maybe we can find something useful about the perpetrator.

an interesting idea. Acting while they were changing shifts to take advantage of the chaos? A good notion. Once we talk to the chief we can see when the shift changes take place. Also a good chance to swap in people you want to replace on the staff if it was inside work. she thinks.

This is an active museum I can only imagine the difficulties doing a crime scene here.” she says to Guardian. “I do like the idea of infiltrating during a shift change though. I did not think about that. It would provide some chaos and a chance to get around security systems.” she nods thoughtfully as she looked at the cameras.

"All the cameras are the Korashi Technics Model KT68419. They've got embedded cabling to ensure nothing ever comes unplugged from the camera, and a sliding jack cover on the left side complete with two USB-L ports. Don't ask me how I know all of this."

In the movie Instead of carrying the money out they faked it and smuggled it out during the investigation dressed as SWAT team members. With the loss of some pricy items they may be attempting to restock and that crown would be a good target." she says.
"With a little spray paint we can possibly see if they made crown invisible. But that seems an elaborate plan compared to just hiding it in museum. still might be worth a check if Crimson King has that kind power at his access." she shrugs then looks to the security chief.
"Chief, I have a few quick questions, Did you have any odd or sudden shift changes? Anyone on your staff have a sudden influx of cash or get some expensive items you can't quite explain? Also, do you have a list of the items in the museum we can look at? particularly things that can hide, cloak, Teleport or record information around them." she asks with a thoughtful tone.
Perhaps the thief used what was in the museum. this is full of items that can do that potentially. the mutant thinks to herself.

As a boy, when my father would visit the capital city of Olympia, he felt it would build character if I cleaned Zeus's stables where he used to entertain women...not for horseback riding...at least not the kind you are thinking of. But let me assure you, the 'σκατα' were massive and floor-based. It is absurd because Zeus wouldn't subject himself to stasis and the several millennia it would take to come here, especially since he sent me to open the portal so that the Olympians could come through instantaneously. Heightened hearing enables the character to hear tiny, almost inaudible sounds several hundred feet away.
At 112’ he can hear sounds as quiet as one decibel.
At 225’ he can hear sounds as quiet as 10 decibels.
At 540’ the audible perception is greatly taxed, allowing him to barely hear a normal conversation in the 30 decibel range. See Sonic Power for the decibel scale.

Shazbut beams, a wide, pleased grin that spreads across his furry face. He bounces on the balls of his feet, and his tail gives a little happy swish. "The sneaky silver disc of sneaky video changing!" His ears perk up at Sinner-G's mention of a sound. "It is making the sounds?" he asks, his gaze narrowing at the silver disc. "Hmm, I wonders if maybe it is saying something? Let's have a listen."
Focusing his unique abilities, Shazbut subtly manipulates the air around the device, warping any emanating sound and redirecting it towards where the heroes are gathered. He listens intently, his head cocked to one side. "Hmm, it is quiet," Shazbut murmured. Slowly, carefully, he amplifies the redirected sound, increasing the volume incrementally. Once what Sinner-G hears becomes audible, he'll listen with the team for any useful electronic thing.
"Interesting!" Shazbut declares, his green eyes gleaming with intrigue. He concentrates again, this time not to redirect, but to silence. With a delicate manipulation of the sound waves, he neutralises the device's output, possibly cutting off any sneaky signals if they happen to rely on the audible spectrum. "Well now," he said, a satisfied smirk on his face, "no more sneaky sounds going anywhere."

"The sneaks touched this, which means they left a sneaky scent from their greedy grasping fingers. We needs Maia to sniff sniff before you touch touch."
Without missing a beat, Shazbut reaches for his radio. He presses the activation button and his cheerful voice fills the airwaves."Maia, we haves some sneaky spy thing our friend touched. Can you come here and do your groovy spirit scent tracking thing?"
He looks left and right, "Where is Maia anyways? This place is huge!"
He waits expectantly, tapping his foot to some tune in his head and explains, "With Maia we will at least know what the sneak smells like. Could be anything! Old cheese, desperation, maybe even... evil cologne!" Then he slaps his forehead and exclaims, "What am I thinking, Maia not have the radio! I go get her. Gimme 10 seconds." The skunk zips off at speed, locates Maia, and grabs her hand, branch... whatever, and leads Maia back to the crime scene and the waiting silver disc, his anticipation palpable.
Along the way the skunk explains, "Maia," he said, gesturing towards the direction he wants to go like an excited toddler, "we finds something the bad guy left behind. A sneaky thing that maybe has his smell on it. Can you please please use your super sniffer magics?"
Contingency: When and if Maia does her scent check, Shazbut mimics her power and does the same. After all, two noses are better than one nose, or no nose at all!

Sinner-G and Shazbut share an exciting moment of discovery when they find the source of the problem, both of them careful not to touch the evidence. Shazbut takes the noise that only Sinner-G is able to hear and amplifies it for those with regular hearing. It's a caustic, chaotic, white noise that would only pass for music to the most diehard industrial fan. There's nothing discernible about it. Sinner-G looks to make a comment to the detective on duty, not realizing that she has stepped out for a break. Not finding the right person to impart his important opinion upon, Sinner-G focuses on an important question. Was the showcase opened? A close look determines that it was. The glass cube top is just ever slightly ajar, as if someone tried to place it back where it goes but didn't do the best job.
Dawn Breaker takes a moment to remember which of her 109 pouches, pockets, and backpack spaces she left her phone in, but eventually finds it. Taking a video of the camera and the intruding technology, she shoots the file over to the tech guru at Omega HQ, Enigma. She also sends a copy to Sector 10 HQ. She receives a reply from Sector 10 quickly (Check your PMs). Dawn Breaker heads back downstairs to meet with the Security Chief. "Odd shift changes? No, everything was pretty damn normal that night. And no, no fancy watches or nice cars or nothing. List of items in the museum, let me dig that up real quick."

Guardian finishes his back and forth with the detective and then rushes down to respond to Maia's upset. Maia has shifted focus to making the people who have tainted the water sources pay for their crimes. "I am glad my watering was satisfactory, friend. The consuming of fuel and the improper disposal of their industrial waste has indeed made the waters sad. But all things are filtered through He-who-mists and...my father Hé-No, the Thunderer who brings the rain, the torrent, the deluge." Maia and Guardian can both hear a slight deflation in enthusiasm when referencing Hé-No. "Worry no, good friend of the Earth and Purple Lightning, For as much as the humans destroy, infect, and poison, they also build, innovate, and restore. Here, watch." He-Who-Mists holds his hands horizontally, fingers touching wrists, palms together, and begins to spread them apart. A light mist appears between his hands, creating a surface on which he begins to display small holographic images. He shows Maia a young human woman, walking a coastline, picking up debris with a metal device and placing it into a sack. Some sharp metal, some plastic 6 pack rings, and much more. A small group of turtles swim by. "This one, and many others, recognize the importance of you. Of nature. Of Earth. And they work to take care of you. Of it. Those turtles could very well have succumbed to the choking hazard provided by those items, had she not cared about this like you do." He-Who-Mists looks to Guardian and says "You have chosen good companions, Guardian. I am glad we were able to reunite you." At that moment, Shazbut rushes up at super speed and requests that Maia utilize her abilities to track the culprit of this crime.
After some time spent at base training her latest mutations, Sicilia finally felt ready to embark on another mission for the Omegas. Checking in with the first person she saw on base, Security Chief Roger Castle, she got the skinny on the latest mission that Alpha was currently embarked upon. Something about Gods and museums. Sounded sure to be interesting. Given the location, Sicilia spread her shiny wings and flew on over. And that catches us up to...
"OK, wait wait wait. You're a giant snake who just flew in and interrupted my smoke break to talk into my mind and ask if this is where the investigation is? Of course this is my fucking job. In there, up stairs, it's the one with all the actual supers bumbling about, you can't miss it. I'm gonna...I need another smoke." The
reaches in her pocket, pulls out a
cigarette and lights up.
"Toyouke, do you see this?" "She has style, Riiva." "And grace."
Sicilia hears two voices coming from behind her and slowly turns to see two glorious women radiating confident energy. "I am

. Goddess of Grace." "And you are fabulous! Your wings... so iridescent. How do you style them?" "It looks like you're here for the Earth investigation, same as us. Shall we show you the way? We are just coming back from checking the perimeter. It is very pretty and lacking in criminals with magical items."

Guardian marvels at the vision. I had no idea Maia started out as a human. She saved turtles. Turtles are far more worthy of saving than humans. Truly a noble and blessed being. It is no wonder fate made them the formidable protector they have become.
"Well met He-Who-Mists. You must be one of the new gods I have recently heard about. You seem to be of a good sort, especially if you are helping Maia. Consider us allies. As allies, I feel I should warn you, if any of your group is a bovine-themed shape-shifter with a proclivity for defecating on floors, there is a detective who is trying to pin this theft on them. She isn't a very good detective and seems more concerned with closing this case and leaving than actually finding the culprit, so I advise they avoid her."

Gideon's enhanced sight determines that that the lid was open and then replaced slightly askew. He informs the others over his comm, "I can see that the case was opened and then closed, not quite precisely. If there is an alarm on the case itself, someone must have interfered with it as well as with the camera."
He continues to avoid touching anything, hoping that a proper forensics team is on the way. While he would not expect anything as obvious as fingerprints, he has hopes that someone better trained can find clues he does not know how to look for.
He adds, still over the comm, "I could use a forensics expert or a CSI team here, my senses are good but it would help to know what I am trying to find."
He thinks, Actually, I am surprised a forensics team is not here already and has not found what we have.
Perhaps that is a side effect of having super heroes in the area, the police expect them to do much of the work. Well, be that is it may, he will do his part...which in this case means standing guard until the experts do arrive to keep anything from disturbing the clues.

It's been a busy few days for Sicilia, splitting her time between her usual note-takings and research and her regiment of flight training. It goes smoother than the snake expects, finding that her mind has developed some instincts for flight along with the wings. It's still a lot of trial and error, and she takes to flying primarily in her obsidian form if only to minimize damage from crashes.
There are a few new ponds in the garden because of this decision.
Finally, she's given the go ahead to join Alpha team in their investigation into the museum. The snake reviews the briefing quickly, jotting down notes into her tablet before shifting into her stone form and taking off. As she flies, she admires the red of the Alpha's suit. It goes better with my scales than the blue, I think, she idly muses, tail flicking in the air behind her.
Beating her wings, she lands softly, folding the appendages flat against her back and coiling up a bit, tilting her head down at the officer and asking her, This is where the Omega Alpha team is investigating, yes? I didn't get the wrong museum, did I?
Leather Jacket Officer wrote:"OK, wait wait wait. You're a giant snake who just flew in and interrupted my smoke break to talk into my mind and ask if this is where the investigation is? Of course this is my fucking job. In there, up stairs, it's the one with all the actual supers bumbling about, you can't miss it. I'm gonna...I need another smoke."
As the officer lights up, Sicilia blinks once, feeling a touch bashful. Aside from Shazbut's compliments, no one had really commented on her being an overgrown serpent... well, since she had moved to Century Station. A bit of the shyness from her college days creeps back at the comments. Um... yes? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be a bother. She pulls out her tablet, typing in a note not to bother the officer if she can help it.
As she taps out the thought with the tip of her tail, she's approached from behind, startled enough to nearly drop the TK around her tablet as she turns.
Grace and Fashion wrote:"Toyouke, do you see this?" "She has style, Riiva." "And grace."

We are just coming back from checking the perimeter. It is very pretty and lacking in criminals with magical items."
Sicilia watches the two approach, tilting her head down in her signature 'smile' at their words. Her wings flutter a bit at her sides, the gods' words reminding her that she hasn't yet deactivated her stone form. With a thought, the stone creeps back to the edges of her scales, her opal wings shifting to a feathered plumage. Thank you, Riva and Toyouke-Omikami. Her bashfulness does not go away as she tries to answer the question fielded to her. I preen and align each morning, like I was taught. If I want to look my best I take a polishing stone to my wings and give them a once over. After the first time I even make sure to only do that in my obsidian form.
She nods at the comment on her being here for the investigation. I'm glad to here the perimeter is clear. Makes the job easier. Last few ended up with more demons than I'd prefer. Please, if you could fill me in on anything else you've picked up along the way? She floats up the tablet for emphasis. I prefer to take notes first-hand rather than rely on just the briefing.

The separate networks needing separate passwords kept knocked a grade off for the assignment. hmmm I should have used the retina and finger print key lock. Might gotten that A... she thinks.

We need Maia. Maia has lots of tricks to find these sneaky thieves.
Shazbut zips through the various exhibits, his bright green eyes scanning the displays until they land on Maia. Then a wide, happy grin spreads across his furry face. "Maia! There you are!" he exclaims, his tail giving a little delighted swish. He bounces over to her. "Hey, we found this sneaky thing the thieves used to trick the cameras. Can you do your groovy panther spirit scent tracking thing on it for us? See if you can sniff out what these villains smell like?"
Contingency: If Shazbut catches sight of Sicilia, he lights up again. "Sicilia!" Shazbut calls out, waving a paw. "Hey! We've got a mystery scent situation! Your super snakey senses would be a big help too! Wanna come sniff some sneaky villain smells with Maia and me?" He beams at both of them, eager to have his scent-tracking dream team assembled.
Contingency: When and if Maia does her scent check, Shazbut mimics her power and does the same. After all, two noses are better than one nose, or no nose at all, for the nose knows and it knows it well!

Sicilia receives a warm welcome to the investigation (except for from the detective) and after some chatter with the two friendly Goddesses she met, heads inside where she runs into...
Shazbut connects with Maia who's rage has not yet subsided and is caught up in the display from He-Who-Mists. Borrowing Maia's abilities, Shazbut finds the unique scent of ocean brine mixed with aquatic scales. It goes from the case to approximately 3 feet away from the case and then abruptly dies off.
On Dawn Breaker's suggestion, Sinner-G takes a look around to see what, if any, recording devices may have been aimed at the case in question. The tainted camera is the only official device meant to be recording the case with the missing coronet. There are a few mechanical wonders in the room, but none of them are aimed in the proper direction to pickup the case. Also, activating those items may be in poor judgement, as there are signs reminding visitors not to touch any of the exhibit pieces.
Before the investigation can go much further, the large white haired woman beckons the Omegas to gather around.
"Greetings Omegas. I am called Saga ████sdottir, and these are the Young Gods. From many pantheons, connected by deific hierarchy. It was I who fortold this event, the Coronet of Mammon disappearing. In the brief time since this hath occurred, many major gods have disappeared. Ushas. Tyr. Abog. Hephaestus. Menrva. Vanished as if they'd never existed. My vision leads me to believe that this crown is responsible, hence our search for it."
What we thought was coincidence revealed itself to be fate as we found and reconstituted your teammate, Guardian. And the source of our problem originates from this planet he protects. This lead us to your team and I would have your aid in resolving this situation. I believe it obvious, but with even five percent of the gods missing across the Megaverse, evil will have a foothold. Normally, we would tackle this problem head on. But we are finding ourselves at the nadir of our abilities, hence the request for aid. Tis a true mystery but mayhaps the answers reside in this coronet. What say ye?"
Finally we know what it does. Now to find out how it does it. the mutant thinks. To disappear from reality? An interesting notion. Were I a comic book character I would think time or reality manipulation. Do we have Thanos locked up I wonder?
That is a very specific type of god. Ushas. Tyr. Abog. Hephaestus and Menrva. 3 of them are familiar to me from media and a few other stories. Ushas and Abos are two I don't know. The others are war, justice or crafting gods if media is correct. Best to clarify this with a few questions.
"We already are working on it so I can confidently say we are going to help. if you could tell us what that you 'saw' or sensed it might help us understand more clearly. Could you also clear up who the missing gods you mentioned are and their fields of influence for those us who are not up on mythology, it would be appreciated. Were I taking out gods that could be trouble the War, Justice and Crafting gods would be first on that list. Is this a possibility?" she asks the seer. a preemptive strike would make sense. and removing the generals, craftsmen and logistics would be a smart move.
Great, first case and I get a universal threat. I am just a spook with a quiver of trick arrows. Suppose if the job was easy they would not have loaded me up with the latest nanotech.. Dawn thinks as she waits for the answers.
While mystical seers were in her mind hucksters and cons at worst, or simply mystical probability theory at best. Dawn did not have the time to worry about the source. besides on Magic, math or psionics it was all the same concept. Better to save the debate with the white haired seer for a better time.

Shazbut's nose twitches as he focuses on borrowing Maia's olfactory excellence. He inhales deeply, then exhales slowly, processing the scent. "Alrighty," he begins, his voice thoughtful, "there is… definitely something fishy going on here." He pauses for a beat, a mirthful look in his eye. "Because… whoever was here smells like ocean brine and aquatic scales!" He chuckles softly. He gestures towards the empty display case. "The smell starts right at the case, where the Coronet was. Then…" He takes a few steps back, his gaze fixed on a point about three feet away. "It just… stops. Cuts off clean. Whoever took the crown… they smell like they just crawled out of the ocean. And they were standing right about… here." He snaps his fingers. "Then, poof! Gone. The scent just… ends. Definitely something fishy… and scaly."
He looks intrigued. "If the guys downstairs no find any video of the sneaky one in the outside cameras, maybe we have a teleporter."

A fleeting thought zips through one of Shazbut's minds, pondering a question that needs to be asked of the universe. Why aren't there any skunk gods? He chuckles inwardly. It's long overdue, I tell ya! He is joking, of course, mostly.
But a little skunky corner of his brain can't help but entertain the notion. Godlike powers… what is that even like? He imagines himself, Shazbut, the Almighty Skunk. God of… what? Music and Mischief, obviously. And maybe… Munchies? Definitely naps. And maybe the awesome art of the perfect stenchbomb for maximum fun.
Where would my divine domain be? Maybe a giant, fluffy cloud shaped like a fedora, drifting lazily through the cosmos, occasionally raining down perfectly ripe berries. The berries sing, in unison, and whomever eats one gains the ability to sing. And they do so, whether they want to or not. In fact, in Shazbut's divine realm, speech is optional, and life is a nonstop musical.
What does he *do*? Probably spend a lot of time playing elaborate pranks on unsuspecting celestial beings. And ensuring everyone has access to delicious, ethically sourced snacks. It's a ridiculous fantasy, but a rather appealing one to a certain skunk with a vivid imagination.

Shazbut's nose twitches, and he subtly and discreetly sniffs in Saga's direction. His borrowed senses analyze her scent profile, searching for the tell-tale aroma of ocean brine or the faint tang of aquatic scales.
Should he find no such scent, on her or others gathered about, he smiles widely at Saga.
"Hey, Saga," he begins, "when I checked out where the crown was taken, I sniffed up a really interesting smell. Like salty ocean water, you know? Ocean brine. And… kind of a fishy smell, but also like scales. Aquatic scales. The scent started at the case and then just… stopped about three feet away. Whoever took the crown definitely smelled like that." Hey, she no even laugh at my joke! Shazbut thinks as he chews thoughtfully on Dawnbreaker's suggestion, his head tilted slightly.
Could this be a burglary from the infamous Wet Bandits?
"Hmm, a water form, eh?" he muses aloud. He pauses, tapping a paw against his chin. "But… if they are all watery, why would the ocean brine and scale smell just stop there? Wouldn't a water being still leave a wet, fishy trail beyond that spot?"
He then gestures towards the silver disc on the camera. "And how did a water thing carry that solid spy ring in here and whack it onto the camera over there? Or," he continues, his gaze shifting to where the crown was likely taken, "how they walk out holding the solid crown? When you turn into water, does everything you're holding, everything you steal, just… turn into water too? Even a big powerful crown that eats gods? I only turn into the water once, and that was ... uh ..." He remembers having fun with a certain watery Geo-Ranger lady, "uh.. private. Hehehe."
He gives Dawnbreaker a polite but firm shake of his head. "Interesting idea, but I no quite follow this waterworks theory. I think it no seem to… hold water. Heh heh."
Hrm what if no teleport or waterworks, if there some other way the smell just ..end? The skunk puzzles over the problem some more.

"A great skunk once said that the simplest explanation is usually the stinkiest… I mean, the truest!" He winks.
What did Lance say about the Crimson King guy who used to have that crown... he had mind control and stuff... and ... ooh!
A realisation dawns on Shazbut, and his eyes widen slightly. "Wait a momento," he says, snapping his fingers. "We already do the check, remember the briefing? Crimson King had the crown once, and Lance said said he was a teleporter! Plus, no one knew if that teleporting was his own power, or if he got it from the Coronet of Mammon! Well, I bet the power comes from the Coronet! Whoever took it used it right here to blip out of here!" He then gestures to the short trail of scent. "The smell stopping after three feet… it fits I think! He teleported right after grabbing it." The space skunk looks thoroughly pleased with his deduction.
He then taps a paw against his leg, thinking to his own bank robbing days. He gave all the stuff he swiped to his gangster buddies who actually wanted all that stuff. "And you know what else? The best peoples for actually getting into a place aren't always the ones who want what's inside. Maybe they hired some sneaks, some slippery, scaly pros, to do the dirty work here. Then pass to someone else."
Shazbut glances at the camera, "And why leave the spy ring behind? I think… if they took it, the normal camera recording would have started up again, and boom! We'd have a smiling thief face on tape."
His gaze then turns to Saga, his bright green eyes filled with inquiry. "Saga," he asks, his voice earnest, "you said this Coronet of Mammon is powerful. Do you know what it actually does? I bet it gives teleport power at least."

But if I remembers right, he had buddies, Knights of the Red Table. Maybe they involved, and maybe not. Shazbut asks the assembled Young Gods and fellow Omegas, "Anyone knows anything about Crimson King, Knights of the Red Table or what extradimensional place the tyrant who last owned the crown did his tyranting?"
He paces a little, exploring this angle, "Yes, Crimson King is in prison. But if you wanted to bust out, a teleporting crown might be the way to do it yes?" He than shakes his head, "But my heart tell me he's not the cause of this. If gods and vanishing, maybe this is a bigger league of baddies, but where oh where did the sneaky thief go? Hrm.."
Shazbut's green eyes gleam with sudden insight. "The ocean smell isn't the power, it's where the sneaky sneak is from."
"Hmm," Shazbut muses, stroking his chin thoughtfully. "could the smell be a clue about where this crown nabber comes from? Maybe near a place that smells like ocean brine mixed with aquatic scales. On the coast somewhere? A tuna cannery? Something else? Maybe they go back there now."Hrm if I was the skunky god of smells I'd know where this smell came from!
Shazbut asks the local detective if present, or if no law folk are about he'll call Lance at Omega HQ. "Any chance for a list of places that smells like this?" He then describes in detail the scent he scented on the crime scene.

Wow you way ahead of me then, that is wonderful!
Shazbut bounces happily on his heels, his tail giving a little thump against the floor. "So you guys are on the same skunky wavelength!" he exclaims, pleased and surprised Dawn Breaker has already thought about this.
"Magnifico! So that means you've already asked Lance for all our intel on the Knights of the Red Table, right? And maybe Crimson King's home town… or dimension?"
Catching Dawn's neutral expression, he adds quickly with a smirk, "If no, well, I just add it to the list." He taps his Omega suit's wrist communicator and called Omega HQ. There's a very polite tone in his voice.
"Lance? Hey there! Got a little something for you. We're looking for possible locations that might have a strong scent of ocean brine and aquatic scales. Any intel on places like that in our databases would be super helpful. Oh, and while I've got you, could you also send over all the data we have on the Knights of the Red Table and anything related to Crimson King? Where he came from? Associates? If he was the tyrant he had followers yes? You're groovy Lance! Thanks a bunch!" He beams, clearly feeling like they're making some real progress. He keeps the line open a moment...
He looks at Dawn with a happy grin, "Anything else you want to ask Mr Lance?"
Even as Shazbut waits for Lance's reply, half of his wonderfully weird skunk brain is already off to the races. Words that rhyme with "Lance" begin to tumble and collide in his mental soundscape. Dance, prance, trance, chance, enhance, advance, romance… He can already hear the opening bars of his epic Ballad of the Coronet Caper, each line punctuated by a perfectly placed "Lance" rhyme. This whole god-napping, crown-stealing, ocean-scented mystery is practically writing itself into a skunky opera. I just needs Lance's intel to add the next verse.

"Greetings Saga. Thank you for reconstituting my corporeal form. The nature of this Crown is one of control. I would assume these gods are not missing, that they are being controlled for some nefarious purpose. Seeing as they are gods forever locked in the struggle between good and evil, I say we start by looking at gods or representatives of a god adversarial to good, that would seek to gain an advantage in this conflict. The nature of the gods may be insight as to their overall plan. I am not familiar with most of these missing gods. Hephaestus may be someone who assumed the role of the Olympian of the same name after their return to Olympus. He was renowned on this planet for his craftsmanship, but his specialty was weapons of power. If his replacement shares this reputation, then I would assume he has been chosen to craft something of power."

"Despite your attempt at jest, my friend, that may very well be the case. If these gods have been corrupted into opposition or corruption of their roles in the pantheon, there may indeed be temporary job openings until they can be found and returned to their places. Pantheons are about balance, and currently, their pantheons are out of balance. They may need volunteers or appointees to restore said balance. But I would advise caution in seeking such positions. They seem glamorous, but being a god carries with it the burden of glorious purpose."
He listens to Dawn and Shazbut's back-and-forth regarding the Crimson King and the Knights. This doesn't fit. If the perpetrator smells of brine and scales, it doesn't sound like the theme of the villain they called the Crimson King, as described to me earlier. He interjects. "Although your theory is possible, the brine smell isn't something commonly associated with The Crimson King and his miscreant knights from what you have shared with me. "Interesting, I do agree we can refine our search. include water based powers that dislike or are rivals of the missing gods as well. at least 3 of them are crafting, war and Justice based deities. If I were taking down gods I would eliminate the bigger threats and those that key to defense or creating counter measures first. I would use local talent to avoid being spotted. Those turtles could very well have succumbed to the choking hazard provided by those items, had she not cared about this like you do."
Maia glares at the image, eventually softening a fraction as she hears He-Who-Mists’ words. Even so, her telepathic broadcast remains tinged with anger and outrage. ”NOT. ENOUGH. POISON. THEMSELVES. FOOLISH. DANGEROUS. MUST. STOPPED, BE. SMASH. INDUSTRIAL. NOT FIND. TRINKETS.”Perhaps the magic in these items could help stop this greater crime? Feh. Even the humans would not be so foolish as to leave such power so poorly defended. With a snarl she turns away from HwM, gives Guardian a brief once-over before wordlessly turning away from him as well. Maia has every intention of leaving the museum to find the source of this pollution and wreck it, allies be damned, when Shazbut comes bounding up.
Shazbut wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 1:04 pm"Maia," he said, gesturing towards the direction he wants to go like an excited toddler, "we finds something the bad guy left behind. A sneaky thing that maybe has his smell on it. Can you please please use your super sniffer magics?"
With a rumble, Maia settles down marginally at the sight of one of the few teammates she trusts and replies ”VERY. WELL. BUT AFTER. MUST DESTROY. INDUSTRIAL. WE. SAVE. WATER. THE LIFE. NEEDS. WATER. UNSPOILED.”. Maia then sits on her haunches and bends down low to get a good sniff of the doodad Shazbut has brought. She will inhale deeply, attempting to fill her “nose” with the scent, before snuffling about the floor to see if she can pick up a trail. If she does, her pent-up angst and energy will be converted into action as she bounds off in pursuit. Should it also lead her to the case she will circle it- wary but curious. She will even lean in to see what other potentially useful scents might be in the offering. If she spots the rest of the team congregating around the white-haired woman Maia will reluctantly pad over- but she listens half-heartedly (if that) to the talk and will instead begin pacing restlessly as she circles the room looking for something else to do. If no new ideas are forthcoming to her anytime soon she will turn to Shaz and say, ”SALT. OCEAN. SEARCH, WE. FIND TAINT. FIND ITEM.”Finally- a chance to solve a real problem in addition to these human trivialities.

So the Knights and Our Evil sea monkeys may be distraction or used. Finding them will lead to the source. Question is where are they and how can we get them to lead us to the boss?" This statements rings a bell in Sinner-G's mind and he takes a moment to track it down. God or the sea, dislikes currents gods. No, that is not quite right...wait GODDESS of the Sea.
When he was younger, Gideon was a fan of monster movies, he once watched one called Behemoth where what was thought to be a dome volcano turned out to be an enormous egg. They figured out how to kill the creature who hatched from it by interpreting the tale of Tiamat.
During his months of isolation, he had looked up Tiamat, and discovered she was an ancient goddess of the Sea, Storms, and Chaos, who fought with the god Marduk at the head of an army of monsters like Scorpion Men. That would certainly be someone who smells of the sea and has reason to hate the gods currently in charge.
Sinner-G says to the others through his comm, "I have an idea. Ask the Young Gods about Tiamat."

"Lance?
"Lance, A list of other crimes that have an ocean or aquatic suspect would be helpful. Our thief or his employer may need may need multiple parts. If you have a list of active supers, heroes and villain, with aquatic powers and their current status That as well. It may give us a suspect as well." she radio. If this is big it may need other parts. If I remember what Argent said spells need components to work. Should have listened to him more. too much Wiez.

Tiamat? the Dragon goddess or the one cut in half that formed the earth and the sea? she thinks. A chaos god/goddess would kill or remove gods. hmm and here I thought this would be boring. she nods.
