"You gents have been here longer than I have, have you found any stashes of literature outside the library? Do I understand correctly that he has an office as well?"
Zachary takes a moment to consider Nigel's question. "An office? There is a trophy room. The Captain did seem to leave a few knick-knacks lying around here and there."
Isaiah Peirce wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:27 am Isaiah nods slowly. "Well, we still don't know where Wendigo's lair up, or what even hurts them. We'd at least need that before trying to deal with it. I haven't found much in related books to Wendigo's in either library yet." Isaiah admits and then looks to Nigel. "These libraries are the only stash we know of. I've been keeping my eye out for other locations of literature but have had no luck so far. George is a tinkerer of sorts, he may well have a weapon for Wendigo's if we go and try to recruit his help." Isaiah officially suggets. "I can go seek him out tomorrow morning if you two want to stay focused on trying to find related texts that might be buried or hidden in the Captian's Libraries."
Zachary chimes in "Not sure about a weapon, but he was testing a prototype or somesuch. If we could somehow borrow it, try and do a stakeout like he did that night we first met him, maybe we'd have some luck there. We'd just need to be very careful." A thought comes across Zachary's mind as he pulls out the goggles from a pocket. "If it's anything like these though, we might not be able to use them ourselves. Sometimes these kinds of mechanics can be attuned to the user and nobody else. Could try remaking them, though again, that's not really certain." Zachary puts the goggles back into his pocket as he glances to the books on the floor. "I can keep researching here, if we want someone with a nose in the books."

The thought of acting as bait resurfaces again, though no plan yet materializes. If we do try to go on the hunt, maybe I can scrape together a plan, with contingencies and all. I'm sure we can make something out of whatever's in this estate.

If Carl leaves, Zachary will thank him for stopping by and let him out.

To be honest, that's not the impression I've gotten so far. That's the main reason why I was trying to find a 'hidden library' in an earlier post. But I could easily have misread.
Consumer wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2025 6:53 amCarl’s eyebrows perk up. ”A Wendigo you say. Well that would be a terrible thing to be running around, and certainly would fit the famine theme. I don’t know the specifics, I just remember that they’re extremely dangerous.” Carl says, obviously surprised by the revelation.
Nigel shrugs. "Well, it is only a theory at this point. But as I said, it's the theory that best fits so far... and perhaps if we were to proceed assuming this is indeed what we're dealing with, we may be able to better glean more specifics from additional research. If we go back to the Caslows telling them we're hunting a Wendigo, we'd better have as many specifics nailed down as possible ahead of time."

Zachary wrote:"You said you worked with the captain? Anything in particular?"
Carl sets his sandwich down, only a few bites left. ”Yeah I did some work with him, the nature of it varied, and not particularly useful to the situation at hand.” Carl says, Nigel can tell Carl is trying to deflect the question away in a usual way among the order.
Nigel nods to himself. That's what I thought. Carl left the order due to disagreements with the Captain, but the Captain still held him in high enough regard to leave the manor to him. Or at least wanted it in the hands of someone who was friendly to the order. Best to hold off on asking any questions along that line until some time later, he's not likely to answer now.

Not having much else to offer, he'll finish eating while everyone is still sitting around the table. When Carl takes his leave, he'll also thank him for coming by (and for bringing dinner) and help show him out.

"So, Mister Peirce, do you still plan on calling on this 'George' tomorrow? I said I'd favor researching here tomorrow, but if we can find anything promising tonight I'll accompany you if you'd prefer. Now... about that trophy room..."

He goes upstairs and starts browsing around the trophy room and the office, looking for anything that might be just 'out of place' enough to be noticeable and/or any stashes of journals/notebooks/books outside of the library proper.

Isaiah nods for a moment. I had been scanning over the foreign languages books, piling them for review later. Perhaps it is time to give them a little more focus. Isaiah considers silently. "Yes, we learned of this after our last visit." Isaiah confirms quietly, lost in thought. Already over the current conversation and his mind reviewing the images of the foreign books as best as possible to prioritize based on what he knows about Wendigo's off the top of his head. Isaiah offers a quiet nod and good night when Carl leaves, still lost in thought and ready to head to the libraries again.
Nigel wrote:"So, Mister Peirce, do you still plan on calling on this 'George' tomorrow? I said I'd favor researching here tomorrow, but if we can find anything promising tonight I'll accompany you if you'd prefer. Now... about that trophy room..."
Isaiah blinks out of his thought process as he is standing up. Hmm? Yes, maybe. I want to see what I can find while digging through some of these other books. I was just saving them for later but it makes sense the answer might not be in an english text. You are both welcome to help, but I will be focusing not socializing." Isaiah warns as he may not be the best of company while researching so intensively.

Isaiah remakes a cup of tea then heads up to the library and begins organizing the books in other languages, he is looking for anything in native american first, then spanish. Isaiah will try to organize it based on what he knows about Wendigos and what they look like. Then cracks his knuckles as he starts sifting through the book for images or markings for wendigos.

If Isaiah finds something with a related image, he will then focus his mind and activate Psychic Literacy (7) and Speed Reading(3) to comprehend as much of the foreign text as possible.

In a rare moment of reading the room, Zachary gestures to Nigel "Should be right this way, second floor. Honestly surprised to have forgotten about it." Zachary recalls the last time he spent any extended period of time in there. "There was quite a bit in there, even an old suit of armor! Used it for practice once when one of the previous residents and I decided to talk to the cops. Didn't do much good in the end I'm afraid."

Assuming Nigel follows, Zachary opens the door revealing the contents of the room. "Now that I think about it, I don't recall any of us spending much time in the other rooms. Guess we've always been running around or perusing the library. There's a strange room next door, forgot what it was used for. I think there's an office the next door down." Hoping to take his mind off Wendigos for a spell, Zachary spends the time looking over the sanctum and office for anything of interest. In particular, Zachary checks to see if the Captain happened to have any similar tools to the goggles he has on his person.

If Zachary notices the small library in the office (most likely he will), he will excitedly go to Nigel to inform him of the find.

"That's a very good point," Nigel nods. "We've been assuming a single predator, or at the most a small family pack... but throw in a supporting network of cultists or thralls and some more holes in our hypothesis get nicely filled." He thinks back over what little he's learned of cults and secret societies, trying to remember any instances of Wendigo-worshippers he may have come across as well as any nuggets of information about other monsters that might also fit the research results so far and are known to have minions/thralls/slaves.

Nigel raises an eyebrow at the mention of 'hedge witches.' Magic users? I shouldn't be surprised there are some around here as well. If they seem friendly or helpful, maybe I should talk to them about my own... He audibly harrumphs. Gifts? Curses? Talents? Whatever they'd call it.

After bidding Carl a good night (along with additional thanks for bringing dinner), he turns back to his companions.

Nigel gives a chuckle. "Not to worry, Mister Peirce, I grew up surrounded by Victorian scholarly types. They were never what you'd call 'social creatures' while on the job -- too afraid of getting their discoveries stolen by their colleagues or falling behind them in their research."

"As far as non-English texts go, I can help with anything that might be in Latin... so if you find some, let me know."

Hoping to take his mind off Wendigos for a spell, Zachary spends the time looking over the sanctum and office for anything of interest.
Nigel grins as he gulps down the rest of his coffee and follows Zachary upstairs. He gives the trophy hall a once-over, looking to see if there are any trophies of animals that look out of place (don't seem to be local) and examining more closely any that do. He then steps into the office and nods with a grin when he spies the door to the sanctum. "Oh yes, I think we're on to something here. Let's see what you were up to in here, my dear Captain... dabbling in chemistry, were we? Or more accurately, dabbling in alchemy instead?" He studies the contents of the sanctum, trying to work out what kinds of reagents are present and trying to work out what kinds of activities the Captain may have been up to.

Once he's satisfied with his investigation of the sanctum, he turns his attention to the office. "Now then... if I were the Captain and had a secret library focused on the supernatural and the paranormal, and I didn't hide it in the main library, I'd probably hide it here in this office. But where, exactly?" He turns to Zachary. "You chaps haven't tried to find a secret room in here have you? If not, shall we look for one?"

If they manage to find it, he'll laugh. "Hey presto! I suspected as much. Let's take a look, shall we?"

He starts browsing the hidden collection, looking for books/articles/notes/clippings that could shed light on their Wendigo theory -- or perhaps, even, the murders of other Order members. As he looks through the sanctum and the hidden library, he keeps an eye out for any books about magic or magic rituals.

Isaiah: Research: [Try to prioritize the foreign books as most probable's to least] Isaiah is able to finds some sources that reinforce what he already knows, in French.
Lore, Demons and Monsters: [What folklore/myth/original do they hail from] Nothing new is gleaned from this round of research.
Isaiah: Lore: Cults & Secret Societies (has he heard of any cults that worship Wendigos?) None come to mind or up in research.
Lore: Demons & Monsters (has he heard of any other types of monsters that fit the profile and would have minions/thralls/slaves?) Several others could fit the bill, but all of them can very easily be lumped into demons from hell, and they most definitely are known for having cults.
Lore: Paranormal & Psionics (has he heard of any other types of entities that fit the profile and would have minions/thralls/slaves?) Nothing comes to mind.
Chemistry (what kinds of chemical reagents did the Captain keep stocked in his sanctum?) For the most part it is a fully stocked (For the time period) chemistry set, there are a few missing bottles of some common and uncommon items (Ask Zachary what he did with them).
Research (looking for information on Wendigos, the disappearances, and/or the Order murders) Nothing new is gleaned from this research.
Lore: Magic Arcane (any books on magic/rituals/items?) Several books seem to contain all manner of magical rituals and other esoteric ideas, but at the current they are beyond Nigel’s skill level.

Once Carl leaves, the investigators continue search among the clutter that amounts to the Old Captain’s life. Carl was sure to leave the three men with much to think about before his departure, which sort of help continue to drive them forward. While Isaiah keeps to the libraries mostly, Nigel and Zachary kind of roam about looking in the other rooms. Zachary fails to find anything that would be similar to the psi-mechanic contraptions he knows of. Nigel eventually finds himself in a small messy office, once used by the late Captain, and begins to try and shuffle through the paperwork of his past life. Meanwhile Isaiah finds one image of what he thinks is a Wendigo, it is a copy of a Native American cave drawing, depicting a tall thin individual with a deer like head, and long thin arms that end in sharp claws.

Eventually the hour runs late, and the investigators find sleep calling. The night is dreamless and quiet, with the light rain that had been falling throughout the day finally ending sometime in the small hours of the morning. The Next morning comes brightly with warm breezes and pleasant skies.

Isaiah makes a copy of the image in his own notebook when he finds it and it's connection to Native American folklore. Bollocks, that thing looks creepy and like it could shred some wayward passerby. The next morning and Isaiah wakes up early, making a cup of tea and eating some biscuits while reviewing his notes on Wendigo's and the case. When Nigel or Zachary wake up and join him, he greets them. "Good morning." He begins and lets them make coffee or breakfast before beginning with his plan for the day.

"I'm going to go see George and see if he has any more information or maybe a weapon against Wendigo's. I found this image of them." Isaiah explains, showing his notebook. "I say we divide forces to cover ground. While I meet with George, you two go track down these Comstocks. I can drop you off somewhere and then pick you up in the same place, I suspect my meet with George to be done sooner than yours." Isaiah suggests and barring any dissent, moves to get ready to leave.

He will check the car's fluids and such before turning over the ignition. He will drive Nigel and Zachary anywhere they want to go, then go track down George.

Waking up, Zachary heads downstairs to meet with the other investigators. Though the other rooms didn't necessarily carry any tools for use in their investigation, he makes a mental note not to forget them.

Zachary looks to Nigel for his response. If he does not have a recommendation, Zachary will chime in. "Can’t remember if Carl mentioned, but we have some other acquaintances around these parts. Isaiah, you came across them back when we were fishing for bones in that lake a long time ago. Drove off after we took care of that business. They probably don’t know more about wendigos than Carl of George, but they might know a spell or two that can help. Maybe they have an idea of spells that can make cars disappear.” Zachary scans the room, hoping to find a phone but gives up partway through. “Those two are quite a ways away though, and I don’t think they ever gave us their address. If we can find a phone and a book though, maybe we can get a hold of them. Should be one at Carl’s.” Zachary turns to Isaiah. “Could use a lift there, if you’re offering. Nigel, do you want to join in or read for a bit around here?

"Yes, yes, this is a little more like it..." Nigel clucks to himself as he rummages through the Captain's office and adjoining rooms. I knew he wouldn't have kept his more paranormal research in the main library where any casual visitor could stumble across it.

As he looks over the chemistry supplies he notices that some ingredients seem to be missing. "I say, gentlemen..." he calls out. "Looks like some of these reagents had been removed recently. Did either of you happen to take any of them? And if you did, do you remember what they were?" If they respond and tell him what chemicals had been taken, he tries to think of what they could make if combined.

He remains rather quiet as he comes across the books with magical rituals and related information. Realizing that he can't make heads or tails out of the inscriptions, he puts them back on the shelves with a worried expression. Perhaps that's for the best, at least for now.

The night is dreamless and quiet, with the light rain that had been falling throughout the day finally ending sometime in the small hours of the morning. The Next morning comes brightly with warm breezes and pleasant skies.
Nigel sleeps surprisingly well during the night, waking up feeling better and stronger than he has in a long time. He actually finds himself whistling as he gets cleaned up and dressed before heading downstairs. "Good morning, gentlemen..." he says as he sees his companions.

"These Comstocks... Carl said they were 'hedge witches,' correct?" Nigel asks in between sips of coffee. "I think I read about those once -- magic practitioners that focus on the boundary between the physical and spiritual worlds, I believe." He frowns. "Do either of you know anything about them?" Any answers he gets (or lack thereof) are only likely to cause his frown to deepen. "I see. Well, Mister Splindt, if you're going to go visit them I should probably go along with you just in case you... well... just in case you might need my help."

He returns to his coffee for a few sips, then sighs heavily. They're going to find out sooner or later... just not ready to go over it just yet.

Nigel: Chemistry & Chemistry: Pharmaceutical (what could the missing reagents make if combined?) It does appear that the reagents and chemicals that were taken are not linked in any way, if combined they likely would just make a mess that would be a scientific oddity. This leads Nigel to believe that they were chosen at random versus by purpose.
Isaiah: Pilot, Automobile [Check car] Low on fuel, everything else seems fine.
Navigation [Memorize the route to George's, and to where Isaiah drops off Nigel and Zachary] Not particularly hard, Carl’s is easy to find, while George’s is just a distance issue.

The morning is mildly busy with the investigators making plans. Isaiah intends on going to Georges alone to talk to the mechanic, while Zachary and Nigel will go to Carl’s to use his phone to call the Comstocks. With a plan formalized, the group heads out. It takes a few minutes for Isaiah to get Nigel and Zachary to Carl’s, the place is mildly busy looking with what is likely a morning rush, if the cars in the lot are any indicator. Isaiah then leaves to make his way to George’s an hour away.

Nigel and Zachary enter the diner and confirm that it is indeed mildly busy. Margarette and Diane are flitting about from table to table taking orders or delivering food and drinks while Leo lumbers about in the kitchen, reminiscent of fantasy tales of ogres. Carl sits on the corner of the breakfast counter drinking coffee, smoking a cigarette, and reading the paper. Diane notices the duo, and speaks up. ”Just take a seat wherever you want gentlemen, I’ll be there in a minute to take your order.” Diane says before moving to fill a customer's coffee.

Isaiah will eventually make it to George’s shop, finding the place quiet.

As Isaiah drives up to the quiet house, he pauses and waits for a few minutes in the car, recognizing it is early for some people and not wanting to intrude. Instead Isaiah goes over what he knows about Wendigo's, what they've been able to determine so far and suspected area. Alright, what we need now is a way to fight Wendigo's. Maybe George knows. An inventor type, maybe he's built something to deal with that. Or... knows how it? Isaiah considers.

Closer to 9:45-10a, Isaiah walks up the quiet driveway and knocks on the door to George's house. "Hello, George. It's Isaiah, we met a few days ago and we made some progress." Isaiah says through the door.

If George greets Isaiah and is alone. "Good morning. I can fill you in on the details, but we think it's a Wendigo. I want to know if you have anything that can hurt them?" Isaiah asks, and will fill George in on all the details.

If George doesn't answer, Isaiah will knock again, a little louder, then listen for movement inside the house. He will knock a third time and listen for movement before exploring around the front and side of the house looking for signs of activity.

Nigel is largely quiet during the drive to Carl's as he's primarily in thought about the idea of meeting fellow spellcasters (which haven't been abundant in his experience). He's been loath to engage in the practice himself as he knows so little about the 'how' and 'why' of it -- how does he know how to use magic in the first place? How does he know how to speak incantations in a language he never learned? And who – or what – possesses the power he calls upon to use it? For someone who’s built a career on knowledge/learning, the lack of answers is what bothers him the most… followed very closely by the nagging suspicion that the answers he seeks won’t bring him any comfort.

Hell's bells... for all I know, I could be invoking power belonging to someone ten times worse than what Stalin and Mussolini are turning out to be combined... he grouses to himself. Perhaps these Comstocks hold some answers to my own questions as well as our investigations. Oh well, as that Thayer fellow wrote, hope springs eternal in the human breast... he adds with a silent chuckle.

At one point he clears his throat to break the relative silence. "I say, chaps, do we have first names or a phone number for these Comstocks? Either one might be helpful if we're trying to ring them up..."

If Isaiah (or Zachary, I can't remember who keeps the fastidious notebook) has either written down, he'll transfer the information to his own before handing the notebook back to its owner.

Nigel gives a polite smile and nod as they find a table, whereupon he sets his things down and walks over to Carl. "Good morning, sir! I hope I'm not intruding..." He adds in a lower voice. "We're taking some of your advice from yesterday evening. Might we use your telephone to ring the Comstocks?"

If he doesn't already have their names and phone number, he'll ask if Carl knows either off the top of his head. If not he'll instead ask to borrow the phone directory, which he'll take back to the table to hunt down the number. And of course, order breakfast with coffee (because one cannot have too much coffee in the mornings).

Once he has a number (and hopefully names), along with permission to use said phone, he'll make his way to it and start the proverbial ball rolling.

"Yes, hello, sorry to trouble you this morning, but I'm looking for _____ and _____ Comstock. Is this their residence? My associates and I are engaged in a bit of a research project and are hoping to speak with them regarding their particular areas of expertise."

Isaiah pulls up and find the place quiet and still, though he’s pretty sure that George sleeps in much later than they do. Isaiah knocks on the door a few times, but doesn’t get any response. Eventually Isaiah begins to walk around looking for signs of George. Inside the house is impossible to see in, as he has newspaper pasted over the window panes, likely to keep some heat in the building during the winter.

This takes Isaiah to look in the garage. Inside is a mess of parts, tools and storage, but one thing does get his attention, a large tank with several devices attached to it sits in the corner, and on a stool near the contraption sits some clothes neatly folded. From the doorway, Isaiah can see not only blinking lights, but also several gauges that seem to indicate some manner of pressure or something. It all seems a bit above the Paranormal Investigators pay grade.

With a hiss, the device begins to open, and after a few long moments a hand emerges to pull the lid of the tank up, followed by George, wearing some manner of breathing apparatus and looking very wet. AT first he doesn’t seem to notice Isaiah standing near the door, but once he has the mask off he shakes his head. ”Oh I have guests. Would you mind waiting outside so I can get dressed.” George says.

A few minutes later George comes out in some work clothes. ”Morning I guess, what can I do for you so early in the morning?” George asks.
Isaiah wrote:"Good morning. I can fill you in on the details, but we think it's a Wendigo. I want to know if you have anything that can hurt them?"
George looks confused. ”No idea, never heard of one before.” George answers. ”I wish I did, but if you need help, I can get my stuff together.” George says.

Nigel chuckles softly to himself and pulls out his notebook as Carl ever-so-casually retrieves their number. Of course he'd have it written down easy at hand... he thinks to himself. The Captain must have done something rather heinous to make you quit the Order, my friend. One of these days I'll find out what that was... and what you really are.

Zachary listens as Nigel speaks, occasionally gesturing wildly with various arm motions to indicate some of the talking points. At one point, hoping to point towards the idea of a car disappearance spell or somesuch, Zachary’s mind blanks at the inability to conjure a gesture of any kind to indicate disappearance. At one point he walks out the door of the diner in an ill-conceived attempt to convey the concept before running back in. Glancing at Carl, Zachary gives up and simply whispers “Do they know any kind of magic that might posess someone to drive those cars away, or cause them to teleport at distances?”

In Carl’s office, Nigel speaks over the phone with a supposed hedge witch, whom at the very least some members of the team he’s attached himself to, know well enough to even ask for help. Sitting behind the desk Carl opens his newspaper and reads, keeping to himself while Nigel has his conversation.

Maria is quiet for several long moments. Nigel can tell she’s mulling over what is being said. ”So two things come to mind. First is, where would you like to meet? Secondly, how time sensitive is this?” Maria says.

Assuming Nigel answers a location, likely the manor, and that it isn’t exactly time sensitive, given the event has been going on for well over seventy years by this point, Maria continues.

”Yeah, I can make that happen…” She pauses to seemingly figure out some manner of logistics to the situation. ”It’s going to take me two to three hours to get there, and then there is the matter of corralling my brother, which given the earliness of the day means he’s likely sleeping off a bender of bathtub gin…” She pauses once more, Nigel can hear the cringe in her voice. ”Let’s aim for four o’clock. Is that good for you?” Maria finishes.

”Alright then, see you gentleman soon.” Maria says, before disconnecting the call.

Carl folds his paper, and takes the handset from Nigel, hanging it up. ”Sounds like that was fruitful. I think you’ll find the Comstocks interesting Nigel. While not the most powerful witches in the area, they’re definitely competent.” Carl says.

Zachary tries to get Nigel’s attention, but by time he gets out what he was hoping to ask, NIgel is done with the phone call.

Isaiah does his best not to intrude or make George feel rushed. When George discloses he's never heard of a Wendigo, Isaiah is disappointed as he furrows his brow. That's unfortunate. Still, be helpful to have him I wager. Isaiah considers and nods. "Yeah, we have a pair of guides and a solid idea of what it is just no proof yet. If you have any tools or weapons it'd be helpful to bring them. We're going to stage at the Whitlach Manor if you want to drive yourself there. Or I can lead you." Isaiah offers and waits for George's reply.

Zachary listens as he hears Nigel describe the phone call. Though the conversation with the Comstocks appeared to have went well, Zachary notes the mention of the Comstocks' arrival to the Whitlach estate.

Checking the time, perhaps by a nearby clock in the diner if there is one, Zachary notes the remaining daylight. I have half a mind to walk all the way to George's place with the time we have left, but something tells me that's not quite the smartest idea. Maybe I'm getting a little too used to these cars and trucks and such. Seeing little other course of action, Zachary opts to return to the mansion. Before he does so, he turns to Carl "Much obliged for the phone call. Looks like we'll be meeting the siblings back at the mansion. Though you know, I never asked. What kinds of magic do these folks do? I know a thing or three about ghosts, but this magic stuff just goes right over my head." Hearing Carl's response, Zachary thanks Carl again for the phone and returns to the mansion with Nigel.

Back at the mansion, Zachary winces as he notes the bookshelf. Think I'm starting to get a little sick of these books, he thinks to himself as he peruses the shelves. With time on his hands, Zachary looks through the books in both the study and the late Captain's office for any material pertaining to the type of magic the Comstocks perform (assuming Carl clarified). If Carl is unsure or cannot provide an answer, Zachary will look for material on possession magic.

Is that good for you?” Maria finishes.

”Alright then, see you gentleman soon.” Maria says, before disconnecting the call.
Nigel grins slightly at the mental image. "Excellent! Thank you ma'am -- we'll see you then." He hands the handset back to Carl.

"Well, right now we need their expertise more than their spellcasting prowess..." Nigel nods. "Hopefully we won't need them to cast a fireball or call down a bolt of lightning," he adds with a wry grin as he turns to fill Zachary in on his conversation with the Comstocks.

"There's a fine line between not knowing enough about magic and knowing far too much, Mister Splindt... a very fine line indeed..." his grin evaporates and is replaced with a rather worried expression. And I'm not at all sure on which side of that very fine line I fall on... he adds to himself. "Though that is a very valid question, and one to which i'd like to know the answer as well..." he looks to Carl.

Once Carl shares what he knows (or doesn't know) Nigel turns his attention back to Zachary. "Well then, we seem to have a bit of time on our hands. Just enough time for a cup, I'd wager. Or do you think we should stroll on back to the mansion ourselves?"

Getting their Bearings: Part Two

George seems to be listening while he rummages through one of the drawers of a workbench. ”In my limited experience, evidence is usually the hardest thing to come across, especially given when the creatures of the night expire, they dissolve into nothing. So given you have a solid Idea is likely best bet at this point.” George says as he pulls a notebook from the drawer and quickly scribbles a note in it. If Isaiah looks the scribbles are likely in a foreign tongue, likely Arabic. ”I’ll bring what I got, which isn’t much. I recently put a lot of effort in building this sensory deprivation tank… for thinking.” Goerges says gesturing to the tank he emerged from, before closing the notebook and turning to face Isaiah. ”Gimme twenty minutes and I’ll be ready.” George says as he moves off to go into his home and grab stuff. True to his word, he has a canvas bag and a shotgun in his hand when he emerges twenty minutes later. ”Driving together or should I meet you there?” George asks, before heading to his truck.

Carl nods. ”You’re welcome. Oh I don’t know for certain, but I’ve heard they’re potent enough practitioners of the Green, or Folk magic as some folk know it.” Carl loosely answers.

Nigel and Zachary find their drinks at the table they had chosen. While Carl finds himself back at his usual perch. Several minutes later the waitress approaches with a picnic basket. ”Carl says you have guests coming. Also Landon over there says he can give you a ride back when you’re ready to leave.” The waitress says, gesturing towards the man playing the guitar in the corner.

Everyone has arrived back to the Manor, Nigel and Zachary first, giving the duo some time to continue looking through the books, while waiting for Isaiah to arrive, who does so about an hour later with George in tow, the two of them join in the research, before a few hours later Maria and Andrew arrive in a battered Model T pickup. With everyone gathered it’s revealed that Carl had sent several coldcut sandwiches with a few bags of chips and several Coca-Colas as well for the group to enjoy while talking.

Isaiah nods appreciatively of George after his explanation and willingness to help. "I'll wait and we can drive together. I'll lead." Isaiah states and glances to George's shotgun. "You wouldn't have a revolver or something I could use during this, would you?" Isaiah asks, a little embarrassed. Need more than the baton at the least. Isaiah considers to himself and when George is ready will hop in the car and lead George to the Estate.

Isaiah arrives with George and greets Nigel and Zachary, introducing Nigel to George then joining in the research. When Maria and Andrew arrive, Isaiah introduces himself and once everyone is gathered, Isaiah pulls out his journal. "Alright, now that everyone is here, let's review. Nigel, Zachary, please interrupt at any point." Isaiah says to them before continuing with his spiel. "We have been investigating the disappearances that have been happening along Route 20, several miles outside of Bellwood. People go missing, their cars go missing. Over a dozen people in the past 73 years have just vanished along that route. Now, we believe that something called a Wendigo is responsible for this, but we aren't one hundred percent sure. That is where you come in." Isaiah says to George then Maria and Andrew.

"We have exhausted just about every lead in town, and have two guides ready to take us through the forest. That said, we want to be as prepared as possible. Both if it is a Wendigo and if it is not. With your help I think we can resolve this." Isaiah finishes, looking to Nigel and Zachary to see if they have anything to add.
