Jason agrees to a time to meet Rufus to view the 'package'. He sits down and takes some time figuring out how much of what materials he will need to make shells for Bonaparte's 105.
Lets see, I'll need about 160 shell casings, GAW can supply ones I can modify. I'll need tungsten rods for the APFSDS and tungsten scrap for the canister. I wonder if a could use scrap silver to make silver canister rounds? Copper and plastique for the HEAT rounds. Same for the MPAT. Plasma is the big question. Of course, smoke rounds should be cheap enough to just buy from GAW. I wonder... Jason calls out to Rufus before he leaves, "Do you know if there is any kind of incense or powder that repels demons or other spirits? If so, I wonder if we can make a smoke round with it?"
Once Jason has his shopping list. He heads into town, stopping at GAW first to buy supplies.

Team Dinner
Location: Templar Farm, approximately 1 mile from MercTown
Date: March 27, 111 PA, 2:00 PM
Weather: 62°, Clear Skies
Over the course of the day, the Templar run errands to prepare for their next job. Leo sits back and clears his head, preparing for the long trip ahead. The juicer is nearly indestructible, as seen by everything he has collided with (sometimes literally) in the Dinosaur Swamp, but he is still vulnerable to the pains of the human heart.
Dhatlun starts to do some research on flying and faeries, but nothing comes of his work. After a few hours he gets distracted and wanders back to the kitchen to start cooking. As his assistants start to prepare the evening meal, Dhal realizes they are missing several ingredients and considers going to the market.*
The others hit the markets where they find some valuable items and info. Rufus buys a magazine, and finds the cover interview so fascinating that he pounces on the chance to ask the reporter his own questions. Walker Rainier is happy to provide what info he has, but as he says upfront, "The Emperor is a squirrely guy. He's right now in the middle of 'redefining' his operation, as he likes to put it."
To that point he says that: Lasar's bandits MO is to hit targets on the road and then drive them into abandoned settlements where to then surround and ravage; they will do this to just about anyone they suspect of carrying something of value (they don't care what, if it's worth creds, it's there's); while Lasar's men are as quarrelsome as any group of marauders, grudges can be cleared with money or blood or both; back to the villages, they don't have any set turf, but they feel entitled to any property they collect protection on; that also means that they bounce from town to town over-staying their welcome and then making a point of staying longer.
On the last question, and comment on Leo's family, the Texan Rainer says, "Look poor and mind your own business. Don't tell them a sob story and don't stop to listen to someone's. There's nothing more these guys like than goading a hero. If you want to square up with them, they will come at you with everything they have. But if you are clever and play your hand like a true Texan at hold'em, you might get by fine."
Jason and Murdoc go into their respective stores and place their orders. By mid afternoon, everyone has placed their orders and found their way back to a small anonymous cafe in the heart of Merctown. None of them have ever noticed the place, and in return none of the servers or regulars seem to notice the Templar. They can sit around and chat about their plans in relative comfort.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
* Dhaltun's destination has not been stated, so as of 2:00 pm he has not left the Templar base.

Leo awakens early, and takes a walk around the farm before breakfast, re-familiarizing himself with the workigns and needs of a farm. If he sees Jacob, he offers his services for the day as a neophyte handyman/carpenter and as an experienced ox.
At breakfast, Leo takes hearty portions and consumes them with speed and intensity.
As Jason talks about the package size, Leo listens as Rufus replies.
He listens as the group finishes discussing plans, and then assists Jacob for the day with chores around the farm. This is quite relaxing for the big man, who has to keep busy to avoid getting jittery due to the juicer chemicals in his blood.
He sees, from where he's working, as the others leave singly or on pairs to head into town. Luckily I got my shopping in yesterday... especially 'cause I ain't got much more credits. I ain't real keen on starting this mission without that new railgun, but it is what it is. If I have to use pistol-and-hammer, I can certainly do that...
He mind begins to wander back to his time in the sploog arenas, but he shudders and focuses back on the taska t hand, resuming helping Jacob around the farm.
I'm way outta practice with farmwork. 'Course as the youngest many of these chores were never mine to do, but still. I gotta get my head right and not let my mind wander. That's how accidents happen.

No matter, when we get back there those bandits won't know what hit'em."

He nods. "If it's that big, it might be easier to bring the recipient to it." He chuckles. then looks down at himself. "Oh wait. I can probably move it if I have to."Rufus wrote:Okay, I'll give you a shout over the radio when I'm done at the magazine office and I'll meet you at the locker. Dhaltuun pulls up in front of the behemoth. Jumping out, he heads right to the galley. ”Vlad, you wanna go to town? I need someone to help me with shopping and I chose you. So pick a form you like and let's head out.” Dhaltuun looks around the galley as he waits for Vlad to decide on a form. ”I also got some supplies. They should be here in a couple of days.” As soon as Vlad shifts, Dhaltuun uses his gauntlet to start a count down clock. ”If I am right, you have 2 hours before you need to switch back. Clock started, so lets go.” Dhaltuun heads back to his buggy, with a whistle for Vlad, He gets in and starts it. Once Vlad jumps in, Dhal heads for the Uncommon Knowledge book store.

While Leo and Jaccob work, he notices the old man for his age and apparent health, could work circles around someone half his age. The work is actually really easy, mostly just checking on things. During the course of the day several deliveries arrive (All deliveries made; items added to sheets). All in all it's a rather peaceful day at the farm.
"All things age. All things die. In the end, our sun burns out. Our universe grows cold and perishes. But the Dark Dimension, it’s the place beyond time."

As Leo and Rufus return to the Templar Farm, Leo hops out of the vehicle and puts the crate on his shoulder, carrying into the Hangar structure. For now, he places the crate inside the Behemoth. He then gets on the radio and calls his teammates.
"Templar, this is Leo. Rufus and I have retrieved the package. Rendez-Vous at the farm."
Leo, ever antsy to return to his family's region, begins prepping his gear - including his brand-new railgun, for use, making sure the ammo barrels and clips are loaded or charged, cleaning and oiling - as necessary - all of his gear, and ensuring all other equipment is checked and packed.
Three years - has it really been three years? - since I saw my family. I look NOTHING like I did when I left. I'm about twice the size I used to be... hair gone white... covered in scars the sploogs gave me... will they even recognize me?
He sighs, laying out his gear to check and organize each piece before repacking.
This was not how I wanted to come home. I'd hoped to come home with a windfall, some licensing contracts and endorsement deals from a juicer sports career - enough to detox properly and still provide for the family farm. I'm coming home a... a disgrace. Enslaved by sploog, unable - even with all this juicer enhancement - to defend myself from them, and poorer than I was when I left. And maybe it's even too late to detox, I dunno. I've basically wrecked my... no... I didn't wreck my life. The sploog did that. But choosing to be a Titan Juicer wasn't the best call ever. How'm I gonna explain this to mom? To my brothers and sisters?
He finishes packing his gear back up, and sits heavily on his rack, and waits for the rest of the Templar to return.

Looks like Jason is rethinking taking the Behemoth on the mission. If that's the case we'll need to find a vehicle that'll suit you."
Waiting for Leo to answer, Murdoc furrows his brows in thought, Maybe a larger wheeled vehicle and a few hovercycles. I still like the drone idea I had, maybe I should go take a look at the Naruni store.

(Rolls carried over)
Leo stands up and opens his door. "Yeah, I'm here. If he wants to use another vehicle that GAW APC in the hangar is about twice as fast as the Behemoth and can certainly carry all of us, plus the extra fuel we'll need to go the whole way."

Dhaltuun arrives back at the farm in his buggy, with whoever tagged along. Pulling up in front of the Behemoth, He looks at the passenger seat. ” Vlad, buddy? Time to get up, we are home.” With an affectionate rub between the ears, Dhaltuun gets out and unloads his purchases. As he unloads he hears the conversation directed at Leo.
He stops working and looks over. ” What? No Behemoth? Where will I cook? I need my galley.” He throws his arms up in mock frustration. ” Should i repack the bug? I can drive that at least.” Dhaltuun turns around and rests his ass against the hood of the buggy. Pulling out his notepad, he starts to make a list of what he may need for this trip, but with adjustments due to taking the buggy instead of his dream galley. ” They are gonna test my skills. Making me cook over a fire, instead of the amazing oven I have in the behemoth? No problem, I got this.”
Looking around, he looks for Jessie. ” Where are you at?” With a shrug, he continues unloading. ” She will turn up. I have faith.” First he puts the new TW toaster oven in the galley by placing it on a counter, but not plugging it in. Then he takes the rest of his stuff into his quarters. Dumping it all on the bed in a jumbled pile, Dhaltuun removes his jacket and Tac belt. Rolling up his sleeves, he proceeds to field strip and clean his weapons.
After finishing with his weapons, Dhaltuun moves on to repacking his gear. ” Marcella, what do you think? Leave the old rifle here and bring the new one? Or keep the old as a backup. I could leave it in the weapon locker on the buggy.” After a moment, he nods. ” That is what I will do.” He piles the WI rifle and the ammo for it on the bed, but off to the side. Moving on, he finishes his repacking.
With a sigh, dhaltuun examines his work. ” What do you say, Marcella? Think we are ready to go? I do too.” He rubs his hands together and heading back to the galley, Dhaltuun plans dinner.
Waiting for a minute outside his room, Dhaltuun whistles for Marcella. As soon as she lands on his shoulder, he starts walking again. ” So I am thinking Texas Pulled Pork, Smoky Korean BBQ Baked Beans, Caesar Potato Salad with beer? Give me a chance to try out my new toys and spices. Sounds good, yea?” As he gets a mental “yes” from Marcella, Dhaltuun gets to the kitchen and starts dinner.

Murdoc takes a step back when Leo opens the door and gives a couple of nods, "Yeah, that would hold the cargo and most of our other gear. Put you, Dhaltunn and Jason in that. Rufus and I could be on our hovercycles and we could rotate who's driving what from time to time." He gives his fingers a snap, "Crap, then where would I put my SAMAS? You think it'll fit in the APC?" He looks the big guy up and down, "Are you going to be okay in the APC? I guess you could ride up top some when you get to feel too couped up, and jetpack it some too."
Murdoc, looks over to Dhaltuun, "Its just talk right now, though if we don't talk the Behemoth, I think you'd be better off in the APC. I don't think your buggy would wear too well if we get into a tussle."
Murdoc gives a little chuckle, "Hehe, If we do take the APC, we could weld on some scrap. Make it look like some salvaged hodge podge. Maybe a rubber skirt to hide the treads, some metal tubing and cargo and camo nets up top to obscure the turret. HEHE, if we weren't trying to move fast, we could even put some horses up front to make it look like the mess of a vehicle was being pulled."

"And yeah, if it starts to get stuffy, I may take a ride topside or even do some jetting. I may even want to camp outdoors at night."
He looks at his gear, which he'd previously cleaned and serviced before repacking for the trip. Crap. I'll need survival gear.
"All I need is to grab a survival pack from Northern Gun, I think."
When Leo has a moment free, he'll run back into town for a NG-S2 Survival Pack, and then return to HQ.
Leo nods in thought. "You can maybe fit it inside... It carries 5,000 pounds and there's room for 24 individuals or 14 PAs. We're at nowhere near capacity... even with me." He chuckles.Murdoc wrote:"Yeah, that would hold the cargo and most of our other gear. Put you, Dhaltunn and Jason in that. Rufus and I could be on our hovercycles and we could rotate who's driving what from time to time. Crap, then where would I put my SAMAS? You think it'll fit in the APC? Are you going to be okay in the APC? I guess you could ride up top some when you get to feel too couped up, and jetpack it some too."

Prepping for a Delivery
A few days pass as the group waits for some things to finish. All the while the box sits, inert and mysterious.
One day after it's arrival, a box truck arrives with a bounty of foodstuffs, the men from Allen's Foods unload it where told, and are on their way. (Approximately 2000 lbs of food), A few hours later another delivery truck arrives, this one battered and unmarked, but it's contents were expected. A fully repaired and mildly upgraded Violator SAMAS, is deposited in the hanger. Two more deliveries arrive from Stormspire and Northern Gun, with various ordered items
A day later GAW delivers a vehicle that Jason ordered.
Three days later GAW delivers Jason's Bonaparte, fully repaired.
Now the group is bereft of any obligations save the job at hand, deliver the package to Brom Ironsides.
GM Note: You may use the already passed five days to prep for the trip, I will be adding the SAMAS to Murdoc's sheet, and the GAW Ambulance to the Catch-All. All other gear is actually already on your sheets. I'm getting my second Covid vaccine today, so I may not feel good for the next day or two. That being said I will make every effort to get shopping posts done promptly. Next GM post will put you all on the road out of Merctown, prepped or not. ~Consumer

A few days pass as the group waits for some things to finish. All the while the box sits, inert and mysterious.
Dhaltuun does his regular routine. Prepare food, study spells books, talk with the others, etc. After spending the first day reorganizing his gear, Dhaltuun takes a look at the box. ” Okay Marcella. Let’s go see if that box can tell us anything.” He heads out to where the box is located.
Dhaltuun walks in and removes his jacket. Rolling up his sleeves, he walks around the box, giving it a visual exam first. First, he will look at the workmanship of the box. ” Hmm, I may be able to tell if the owner is a professional woodworker or an amateur.” After going completely around the box once, Dhaltuun steps back and gives his hands a shake. ” Now for the magic!” He casts sense evil and sense magic on the box. He will then relax and try to interpret what he gets from his castings. After Dhaltuun will make notes on his findings and then finish his personal stuff for the day.

Dhaltuun will spend the rest of the day putting the foodstuffs away, where they should be. In between restocking EVERYTHING, Dhaltuun will work on meals. In his little downtime, he will try to plan and prepare travel foods for the group. ” Vlad, today we are gonna test the new toaster oven. Help me hook it up.” With a few minutes of grunting and cursing, Dhaltuun figures out the oven. Dhaltuun will make food as usual when not playing with the oven. After the day is done, Dhaltuun will continue reading his spellbook.

He will stare, and poke the Violater for about a half-hour before returning to the galley to work. After making the needed food for the day. He ends the day with more reading. ” Put in a full day of study today. I am exhausted.”

Hmmm, Where can I set up a makeshift kitchen.” Seeing all the room in the GAW, Dhaltuun tries to map out a space for his travel kitchen. ” Ok, so I need my new oven and a coffeemaker, but everything else I can make do without. Day 3 - Three days later GAW delivers Jason's Bonaparte, fully repaired.
Another day of reading and finishing his to-do list. Dhaltuun returns to his study area in the galley of the behemoth. In between reading and making meals, Dhaltuun uses his time to stock a crate for travel. He spends the day bouncing between the books and getting this batch of jerky finished, as well as getting the galley packed for the trip After setting the jerky to cool, Dhaltuun cleans up and starts loading the GAW.
Once he has completed that menial task, Dhaltuun starts to think about the box and the transporting of it. After checking through his new reference library, Dhaltuun decides to tattoo a simple protection spell into a piece of leather. ” After everything I could find, it doesn’t matter what I use to “draw” the circle and it doesn’t matter what I draw it on. So I just need something big enough to cover the box.” Dhaltuun looks around. ” Marcella, any ideas on what I can use?” He continues letting his mind work as he looks aimlessly around.
After a couple of minutes, Marcella flies off with a squawk. ” Where are you going?” Dhaltuun follows her. The trail leads him back to his quarters in the Behemoth. ” Why did you bring me here?” The question hangs unanswered as Marcella lands on a chest in the corner. Dhaltuun’s brow furrows as he walks over ” What are you up to? There is nothing in there except… “ His brows shoot up as the ideas strikes him. ” Dinosaur Skins!! There should be something in there that will work.” He starts digging thru the chest. After a couple of minutes, he pulls out a Tiger Raptor skin about 5 ft by 5 ft. ” This should do nicely. Thank Njord that I tanned these already.”
He spreads the skin out on the bed, leather side up. Dhaltuun then grabs his tattoo kit and sets it up. He steps back and looks at the skin from an artist’s perspective. ’ so I will try to tattoo a simple circle of protection on that. I will use what I know as well as a Samoan design, mix in a few runes for Njord and we can call it done. *rubs hands together* Let’s do this!” Dhaltuun proceeds to set out his ritual items. After taking the necessary time and steps for his ritual, he begins the job.

Day One
Leo is on hand for all deliveries. As a juicer, alertness is his resting state, so when the various delivery trucks arrive, Leo hops up to help offload, organize, and store whatever the deliveries may be.
When Leo sees the first delivery, of food, He'll call Dhaltuun down, and assist in cataloguing the delivery and storing it for the trip. Lots of nonperishable and canned goods... but Dahltuun seems to be able to whip most anything up into a decent meal, and there's plenty of game to be had down south. I'm not much of a hunter myself, but I know the basics, and maybe I can set up some snares when we camp, and check 'em and take 'em down before we hit the road again, to supplement these stores with fresh meat.
He thinks back to his recent hunting experiences and frowns. Maybe. Maybe not.
When the SAMAS arrives, he calls down Murdoc. He assists in offloading it into the Hangar, and admires it like a dude with a brand new toolbench. "Not bad, eh Murdoc? You'll be lightin' them up in this one. Maybe we should personalize it for ya... well... maybe after this job. If the CS stops us and they think you're one of them, that wouldn't be such a bad thing after all."
He'll assist with loading the SAMAS' various weapons, and fitting it appropriately for Murdoc, adjusting the fittings that Murdoc can't until it's a perfect fit.
He grins at Murdoc, once the SAMAS is all fitted, and holds out his fist for a fist bump. "Sky bros?"
He happily goes about his business, wandering the farm and helping Jacob with various chores as requested, admiring the older man's depth of knowledge and skill at running a farm basically single-handedly. When the remaining deliveries for the day arrive, Leo signs for them and hands them to their new owners, putting his own brand-new survival pack with his own gear (after unpacking it, checking all the components, and repacking it, of course).
He takes his meals with the team, and eats, as usual, heartily. When not otherwise occupied, he brushes up on his jetpack drills, practicing some basic maneuvers - banking and rolling, climbing and diving - before moving into more advanced combat maneuvers - dodging/juking, stalling, "wingovers" and the like. I'm really not interested in crashing this thing as often as I did in Dino Swamp.
Day Two
Leo is hauling replacement timbers for the wooden perimeter fence when two vehicles drive up to the gates. He sets them down and goes to meet them, and sees one is a humm-vee with a bunch of modifications. He signs for it, and calls for Jason when he sees the name on the delivery slip.
After he signs, he watches the drivers pile into the other vehicle and leave, leaving the shiny new hummer behind.
Leo examines the hummer. If/When Jason tells him about the titan juicer configuration they've had added to it, Leo grins widely. "Oh, man, that's gonna ROCK." He tries out the seat, and the titan-sized hatch. "Man, I'll bet I can launch my jetpack from here if I have to!" Wouldn't wanna do that too often, though - might damage the suspension. "I can DEFINITELY fire my shiny new railgun from here though."
He grins at Jason. "Thanks, man. This'll get me into action much faster than I could from the Behemoth!"
Leo will again spend an hour or two practicing his jetpack maneuvers, hoping with practice they'll become ingrained into his muscle memory.
Days Three and Four
Leo spends his days packing gear into the new vehicle as needed before resuming helping Jacob around the farm and doing any odd jobs as requested by other Templars, as well as practicing with his jetpack.
On Day 3, Leo will ride into town and purchase fuel for the trip (455 gallons in 9 barrels - cost to the group is 18,380 credits) and arrange for it to be delivered to Templar Farm.
Day Five
On day Five, as Leo is practicing jetpack drills, he sees a flatbed truck coming up the road with the Bonaparte strapped to it. He circles around and back to the hangar, and calls Jason. "Jason! Dude! your tank is back!"
He watches Jason as he offloads the Bonaparte, assisting with unstrapping the vehicle from the flatbed, but letting Jason handle his baby. He's the expert, and he's gonna want to give it the full diagnostic and preflight check and all. Once Jason appears to be done with that, Leo approaches. "Must feel good to have her back, huh? My Dad had an old mech - nothing as cool as Bonaparte - but whenever it was broken down he was always on edge. Would spend days in the garage fixing it up, taking his meals out there and everything." Day One
Would spend days in the garage fixing it up, taking his meals out there and everything." He laughs, "I swear sometimes he'd sleep in the thing."
"So I understand the past few days had to be a little rough on ya. So... Once you get her all checked out... that's it, right? Time to go?" Try as he might, he can't hide his excitement to be gettign back to the part of the world he's from - and where his family (the good lord willing) still is.

When the two of them return and hear the idea of not taking the Behemoth, Rufus isn't all that keen on the idea from a logistics standpoint as in his opinion it'd be better to have a single mother vehicle that can handle all the group's supplies and fuel needs... but when the 'new' vehicle arrives from GAW he shrugs his shoulders. "Po toči zvoniti je prepozno..." he mutters under his breath and spends the next few days packing and making sure everything's ready to go.

Rufus nods. "Yep... guess that's it." He chuckles to himself when Leo asks about any special handling instructions. It'd be our luck this is some sort of shapeshifting something-or-other that actually would take offense to being taunted.
"Not that I know of," Rufus shakes his head. "Some lockable storage on board the Behemoth, perhaps. I think Jason mentioned securing it behind some panels on board if it was small enough, but I doubt he's got any ideas for something that big. Too bad I never learned temporal spells, otherwise I could just conjure up some sort of dimensional closet we could stick it in." He laughs. "Pardon me, Rufus -- is that a crate in your dimensional pocket or are you just happy to see me?" he says out loud to nobody in as feminine a voice as he can muster.

End of Prologue
Several days are taken, in preparation for the trip. Food, Fuel, and the crate are packed into and onto the vehicles that have been deemed useful for the trip. The team loads their gear between the two vehicles and plots a general route, hoping to skirt the Coalition States’ territory. All in all it’s not a bad setup. The group sleeps one more night, before gathering in the morning for the trip. Dhaltuun doesn’t even have time to cook breakfast as Jaccob has already made breakfast sandwiches (Canadian Bacon, Eggs, Cheese, on a english muffin) and a few thermoses of coffee for the group. ”Be safe out there, I’ll keep an eye on things here as per our agreement.”
With a rumble the GAW refitted M113 APC comes to life followed by the GAW refitted/modified Humvee. Murdoc suited up in the Violator SAMAS begin to make their way westerly.

The Templar Farm
The Templar now home for the first time in a few months, find the farm quiet in the early evening. Jacob sits on his porch sipping an iced beverage. The old farmer waves at the sight of the Templar, but doesn't bother them unless they need him for something.Time and Weather wrote:Location:Templar Farm, 1 mile outside of Merctown.

Calvin amused himself as he played back an old song he heard in his childhood. He wonders when he'll be back in Madhaven, crawl the tunnels along the Hudson and walk the streets of Hardmen again.
Stepping off the ride, Calvin quickly moves to the side. Bidding thanks and waving good bye to their ride, Calvin takes a deep breath as his feet digs into the earth.
Well I'm here at last...
Calvin kneels quickly and gathers some dirt in his hand. He plays with it, then holds the grains in a closed fist.
"I can kiss the ground right now", he exclaims to nobody in particular.
Picking up his stuff, he makes his way to the main farm house. Once he is inside, he turns to Rufus or Jason.
"Where do you want me to sleep?"
Once he drops off his stuff, he heads back to the common area and looks for Rufus and Jason:
"I am taking the loot bag to sell. That's the pistols and the vibro weapons. And the Horune rifles."
"Rufus, I got to run to the Hub after selling and make a contact with Bethesda's office. After that we should meet up for the mage guild. Just radio me and I'll show up."
Calvin turns to Jason and says:
"I am heading to the warriors temple tomorrow. I'm gonna go there to pay my respects. I'll check in on the proper religious icons and get back to you."
Without further ado, Calvin says to whoever is in earshot:
"Aight, gotta run. Hit me up on the radio if and when you need me!"
Calvin will sling his rifle and carry the loot in his backpack. Then he will make haste for the city gates. Once arriving, he will check in his rifle with the Merctown Defenders. Then he will head to the Arms Bazaar and the Spokes district to sell the groups wares. Then he will head to the Hub and visit the Bethesda office. If paged, he will head to the Mystic Quarter to meet Rufus, otherwise he will make his final stop at the temple.

"Thank ye. I figure it's gonna take me a while ta get me land legs back again. I get used ta the sea and the air, so havin' a dwarf sized place ta put me feet up - that's gonna be special.
She ducks into the room, placing her bag just inside the door, then comes back out again with a pensive look on her face.
"Do ye think Dhaltuun will be back anytime? I dinnae want ta make the place me own and have him be put out when he gets back. A dwarf's home is his cave, an' all that, ye know?"
She returns to the room, and starts to unload things from her bag. There's a few heavy clanks and thumps, then silence, broken by a muffled belch and a half-heard "Pardon me." After a couple of minutes she emerges again, and heads outside, pausing only to look around to see where Calvin and Rufus were. She steps out of the Behemoth, and moves a few feet away from the door before leaning back against the outside of the vehicle.
"Okay. Finally, a safe place. Well, fer given values of safe. I'll have some time ta try out the new spells at long last. Dinnae want to try 'em out in combat, much as it may have been tempting. I'm gonna have ta see just how they work. Mebbe a good idea ta load up on some power first, though. She leans against the Behemoth a little harder, and uses it to lightly scratch her back.

Jason stretches the kinks out after the long ride back to the farm. He thanks Victoria and asks if she want some produce to take back.
After Victoria pulls off, Jason turns to Rory, Teres, and Calvin. "Welcome to your new home. " As Rufus shows them where to bunk on the Behemoth. Jason grabs a shower and changes into a clean uniform. Damn, that feels good. He grabs a beer and a good cigar, and heads out to relax on the porch to enjoy them.
"Leave me one of the pistols, please. I'm a bit of a weapon collector. And before you go, I'd like to introduce you to my oldest friend." Jason leads Calvin and anyone else who is interested to the hangar. I walks over to Bonaparte and does a slow walk around, patting the VHT as he does.
"This is Bonaparte, A Veritech Hover Tank Spartas Model 1." There is an odd amount of emotion in Jason's voice as he climbs into the cockpit. "Veritech means Variable Technology. Here's the Hover part." Jason powers up the VHT and pulls out of the hangar. He yells a bit to be heard over the lift fans. "Here's the Tank part." Jason switches to Tank mode, feeling the adrenaline as the tank turns and the cannons deploy. Damn I've missed this. Jason jumps the tank a bit, then changes to Battloid mode. Over the PA he says, "And this is called Battloid mode." He walks Bonaparte back into the hangar, drops back to Transport mode, and powers down. He climbs down and turns to Calvin and the others. "What do you think?"
Before starting on his gear, Jason tracks down Jesse. "I meant to return this earlier. It was very interest and insightful. I appreciate the opportunity to learn about this pantheon, eve if none of the deities particularly clicked with me though." Jason hands the book on the Norse gods to Jesse. "Are you and Vlad going to be staying with us, now that we are home? We'll never know when we'll need a ship captain, and we'll always need a chef."
Once done speaking the Jesse, Jason checks on Vlad to see if he will stay on as the Templar's chef. " We have a full farm here and access to a variety of ingredients in MercTown. If you stay, we'll start a herb garden for anything you want."
Jason will then spend a few hours cleaning and servicing his weapons. He goes to bed around 11. In the morning, after fresh coffee Ahhh coffee, without salt, he finishes working on any gear left.

"That sounds good. I'll head over there with you tomorrow afternoon. Tonight and tomorrow morning, I am going to be cleaning and servicing my armor and weapons. "A clean gun is a happy gun". This is our first chance to truly service them after weeks of being in a salt water environment. All of our gear needs it."Calvin_Wallace wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 12:00 am Calvin turns to Jason and says:
"I am heading to the warriors temple tomorrow. I'm gonna go there to pay my respects. I'll check in on the proper religious icons and get back to you."

Re: Templar Base (Approximately 1km outside of Merctown)
(Rolls held over)
Calvin looks at the giant robot tank thing. His jaw drops as it transforms to multiple modes.
"We're never going into a fight without this thing, ever again."
Calvin hands Jason one of the pistols and says:
"Here you go."
Without further ado, Calvin will take up Rufus's offer to drop him off at the city gates. (Let me fix the shopping thing).
---
Post shopping, Calvin takes the resultant funds and hands them in totality to Jason for splitting up.
"I think I did okay, got a bit over half a million creds for the haul."
Calvin then returns to his quarters to organize his equipment.
I need to work this new tactical harness into my rollout... And I should probably clean all my stuff too...
Remembering what his boss said about the sea salt, Calvin reluctantly sighs, then takes all his adventure clothes to be washed. Then he strips down his rifle, wipes down the rest of his equipment and puts things back in order.
Regarding to the new toy that he received from his dad, Calvin doesn't even know what to do with it...
Well what does this do?
Calvin rummages through the Templar's armory and finds some old armor plates from the pile.
Setting the armor plate outside and standing up against a tree, Calvin walks back a few paces and casts Carpet of Adhesion to firmly attach the plate to the ground. (-10 PPE)
Then he walks back about 30 paces, turns around, and fires a magic bolt from his fingers (strike: 1d20+5: [16]+5 = 21 , damage: 5d6: [2, 3, 4, 3, 6] = 18 ) (-5 PPE)
Examining the damage, Calvin thinks to himself: Well this is good... Let's try the other gun.
Calvin takes careful aim with the pistol and shoots the plate again. This time he stands five feet back, as he is impervious to energy pistols. (strike: 1d20: [14] = 14 )
To his surprise, the armor plate seems to have repaired itself somewhat. (+10 MDC)
Checking again, Calvin shoots the armor plate again (+10 MDC). This time the armor plate appears new!
What in the fuck?
Popping the eclip out, Calvin sees there are 8 shots left. So a full short eclip has 10 shots...
Calvin takes a long eclip and tries to pop it into the pistol, but realizes it doesn't quite fit. Well this contraption is kinda picky...
Calvin replaces the armor plate, and takes the repair gun back to his room. Just where in the fuck did Dad find this thing?
Just as he enters the Explorer robot, he looks for Rory and Jason. If he cannot find them, he will page them over the radio.
"Hey Teres, Rory and Jason, your armors were pretty beat up after the last fight? Can I check it out?"
Calvin waits for Teres, Jason or Rory to respond.

“If you need any help Jacob. Let me know.” she adds pondering whether she should take a behmoth room or another. Better to have one on the Behemoth just incase. That and I can set a campsite or stash of the farm later at some point. After Victoria pulls off, Jason turns to Rory, Teres, and Calvin. "Welcome to your new home. All maintenance done, Jason spends some time over the first week back going over the details of the farm with Jacob. He lets the old farmer make the decisions regarding what to plant and what items are needed.
While the Templar has down time, Jason asks that they all get together at least for breakfast every Monday for a meeting. This way, they can keep each other appraised of any projects, developments, etc. that come up. Jason can understand if, considering how long they were confined on the small boat, the team wants to have alone time.
When Calvin calls out,
Jason showers and gets his Southern Cross uniform inspection ready before heads into town, riding Bonaparte, to check the Mystic quarter to learn what deities are represented there and then goes to do some shopping.

Interaction with Jason with regards to money:
"Thanks Boss. I really, really appreciate this. Speaking of funds, we have a lot of equipment that our current group does not use. I'm not going to make any decisions as per what to sell, but I'm going to inquire about prices. Also, we have a lot of hovercycles, so I would think that some of us could use lessons. I'm going to ask around about prices for that as well."

Interactions with Jason and Rory with regards to armor repair:
"Yeah, it fixed about a good energy blasts worth of damage at a time... So your armor took 3 shots to fix. I have previously took two shots as an experiment with some scrap metal in the garage... So it's got about five shots left."
"With this, we probably can get a lot of armor fixed for free."
"Rory, give me a second. Hey Jason, I got something in the mail from back home."
Setting the shield up against the wall, Calvin shoots a few pulses at it. (-3 shots). Immediately, the shield's condition immediately improved. Emptying out the clip, Calvin examines the shield (+50 MDC).
"This is gonna save a bunch of lives.", Calvin exclaims quietly.
Popping the eclip out, Calvin charges it discreetly by gripping the clip tightly and pumping his magic reserves into the clip. Reloading the gun, Calvin fires too more shots at the shield. (+20 MDC)
"Wow, this is good as new."
Calvin hands the shield back to Jason. He looks at Jason's fresh digs and smirks:
"May you find a worthy General!"
Turning back to Rory, Calvin says:
"Looks like we're all going down to the mystic quarter. Jason, if you would give us a ride, I'd really appreciate it."

Downtime Week 2
And the week passes.
The second week back is rather dull, with the Templar continuing to do small things on the farm or in Merctown itself. Calvin manages to find time to use his new gift to repair all the armor save Jessie's in the Templar. GM Note: While it doesn't say it, I do not believe that item can repair magic items or constructs. ~Consumer Calvin takes it upon himself to sell the excess loot from their Pacific Adventure, returning with a sizeable sum of money for what amounted to junk. Jason takes the time to hand out shares to everyone, facilitating more shopping if needed.Time and Weather wrote:Location:Templar Farm, 1 mile outside of Merctown.

The next morning after breakfast, he looks for Jason and Jessie. "Good morning prijatelji! I'm heading into town to take care of a few things before spending some time at the Guild to commune with the ley line. Hopefully without any raptor-related interruptions..." he says with a somewhat sheepish chuckle. "Anyway, the meditation will take about 48 hours so I probably won't be back for at least 2-3 days. If you need to reach me, leave a message for me with the Guild and I'll respond as soon as I'm done." He glances up at Jessie. "Gonna see you and Vlad when I get back, I hope?" Please don't leave. Please don't leave. You two are worth ten Dhaltuuns each -- okay, Jessie, you're worth thirty Dhaltuuns, easy -- and this bunch wouldn't be the same without you. He turns away and lets out a barely perceptible sigh. Listen to yourself, pup, practically begging them to say -- one of them especially. Why would they though? They're supernatural beings, agents of gods, and we're just a bunch of mortal screw-ups. Hanging around with us has gotta be tantamount to slumming with undesirables. They're probably itching to be rid of us and I can't blame them.
He gathers up his gear and considers pulling out his hovercycle before deciding against it. I don't have to pay for two days of parking if I leave it here... Instead, he casts a flight spell on himself and zooms off towards town. It's a good day for flying anyway.

I dinnae want ta make the place me own and have him be put out when he gets back. A dwarf's home is his cave, an' all that, ye know?"
If Rufus overhears any of this, he won't be able to resist chiming in. "I sincerely hope you both do. Vlad, you've made every place we've bedded down for the night feel like home. And Jessie, well, several of us may be dead by now if not for you..." He looks at her for a split second before averting his gaze. "Look... I know your original agreements were with Dhaltuun, but since he's obviously not around anymore, do you need to negotiate a new deal with one of us or something? Whatever you need, I -- er, we -- are willing to do. Just don't ask me to arm wrestle Thor, okay?" He adds with a grin, but deep down he's honestly worried.Jason Long wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 9:24 amBefore starting on his gear, Jason tracks down Jesse.
-------------------------------------------------------
The next morning after breakfast, he looks for Jason and Jessie.
Calvin's radio message snaps Rufus out of his moment of self-pity. Thanks, I needed that... he thinks to himself as he hits his comlink. "Roger that, prijatelj. I've got to make a stop or two around there as well. See you at the Guild."Calvin_Wallace wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 11:54 am"Rufus, Rory and I are hitching a ride with Jason to the Mystic Quarter. He gathers up his gear and considers pulling out his hovercycle before deciding against it. I don't have to pay for two days of parking if I leave it here... Instead, he casts a flight spell on himself and zooms off towards town. It's a good day for flying anyway.
((OOC: Rufus' story continues here before heading on to the Shrine of the Warrior and then on to the guild.))

Once Calvin comes back from Merctown back to the farm, he gets to repairing.
"I'm back at the house and I'm fixing up stuff to sell. I'll get at your armor in short order."
Calvin notes the severely damaged Wrangler Riding armor in Teres room. Scouting around quickly, he doesn't notice any other broken wares.
(OOC: Wrangler Armor is sitting ugly at 17/85. Restoring at 10 MDC a shot, the armor will require 7 shots.)
Calvin takes the armor outside and inspects the pieces. (Field Armorer & Munitions Expert -- 1d100 < 68%: [32] = 32 )
Alright, I can fix this in short order.
Taking aim, Calvin uses the universal repair gun on the armor. Slowly squeezing off several shots, he makes sure to apply the treatment evenly to the damaged surfaces. Within minutes, Teres's armor is repaired and Calvin puts everything back together and places the repaired item in her room.
Then Calvin moves into the vehicle storage area and proceeds to work on fixing the hovercycles.
Wind shield is gone... but the rest of the item is in tact. Armor looks pretty beat up on all four bikes...
(OOC: On average it takes 6 shots to fix each NG-300, and 8 shots to fix each NG-220.)
Without further ado, Calvin charges up the eclip on the UEMG (repair gun) and fixes the main body armor of each and every hover bike, one at a time. Then he will apply the same treatment to the wind shields. Once those have been restored, he will do a quick inspection of the weapons systems. Then he will do a quick wipe down and spit polish on the machinery.

This shit gotta look as new as possible so we can fetch the best price for them
Once he is finished, he will take a quick look over the VSAM (Field Armorer & Munitions Expert -- 1d100 < 68%: [2] = 2 )
Calvin notices that the VSAM is missing 8 mini missiles. He locates the extra reloads from APC and loads 8 Frag mini missiles in them.
Rummaging around the inventory of spare equipment, Calvin also notes that there are a few pieces of basic equipment lacking. He then proceeds to make a group purchasing list.
Humming a tune to himself, Calvin begins to compose a list.
Calvin hops on a nearby computer terminal and decides to do some research on products.
Let's replace the 8 frag mini missiles in the reloads there... What else do we need...
I have one field medic kit. We could use a few more. One per each vehicle?
I see extra ammo drums for the NG-303 rail gun, but no rail gun. Who checked it out? Maybe we should replace it...
1 rmk, we could stand to have a few more of those...
8 tw light blades, 2 vibro knives, 2 vibro swords...
Why don't we just get another NG-303 rail gun, dump all the conventional ammo and get it to shoot wood rails, then we have a range weapon against vampires that we can take with us.
What else:
We should probably take care of getting another vehicle though... The prowler makes a lot of sense. We could use a hover cycle that can prowl...
NG-230, 198000 for electric... Doesn't come with a gun... Fine. Let's not do weapons since it slows the thing down anyway.
How about a labor drone to help out with repairs? Something with the mechanics program and the domestic services? 2 million isn't cheap but we get another hand in the kitchen, someone to help fix stuff and fix people. We could stand to do that.
Climbing Kit: 1200 creds.
Portable Scan Dihilator... this thing is sick... 40 lbs though... 4200 to 5k
Medical Gear:
Thermometers, Let's get the battery operated type. 10-15 creds each. Need 3.
Palm Bio Unit. 150 creds (GMG P.185)
Protein Healing Suave... 100 creds per tube. Let's get 10 tubes. (GMG P.185)
Hypodermic Gun... 200 creds (GMG P.185)
Suture gun. Let's get two. (100 creds each) and about 50 feet of cultures (100 creds) (GMG P.185)
Suture tape, just in case the cuts are small enough to be taped closed. 5 rolls (100 creds)
RMK is 24000 each. How many time can I re-ruse these? (GMG P. 185)
Compu Drug dispenser... 3000 creds... (GMG P.185)
2 first aid kids. 100 creds each (GMG P.184)
2 stethoscopes. 80-150 each (GMG P.186)
I guess spend the rest on anti virals, antibiotics, nsaids, pain killers... (no idea where the drugs are at)
Let's run this by Jason before we start buying.
Welp what do I want:
I need a portable computer.... Portable field unit is 2.5k... (GMG P.186)
Skis... Downhill 500-750, Cross Country 300-500...
Wilks 157... 38000, with baynotte, grip, and laser targetting, that's 2k, 400, 2k or 42400 for another rifle...
Calvin goes and assembles a list and waits for Jason to come back to present to him.

Re: Templar Base (Approximately 1km outside of Merctown)
Downtime Week 3
At some point Rufus and Jason approaches Jessie and Vlad to have a conversation.
Jessie takes the book back. "You're welcome. I at present do not have any duties so I will be staying, at least till the powers that be call for me." Jessie answers. Vlad shrugs. "I really don't have anywhere else to go, I was effectively removed from my home, such as it was, by a moron. Now I have a mobile home, so I can't complain too much. I'll let you know if I need anything." Vlad says.
The rest of the week passes without incident, until.
Kelly slowly brings the Salamander up the dirt road just outside of Merctown. The guy at the Cafe said they could likely use another body. Ahead, Kelly sees a fairly well kept farm, with several building on it. People are working the fields of corn as she passes. Kelly pulls the Salamander up onto a dirt drive finding a safe spot to park. Ahead of her, she sees a large metal warehouse or barn with it's large doors open, standing among gantries is a Behemoth Explorer. As Kelly is powering down the Salamander, an old black man in simple work clothes approaches. "Morning, what can we do for you?" He says in a gentle voice.
The third week is filled with Calvin busy bodying himself fixing all manner of things in hopes of convincing the others that selling the excess is a good thing. Other than that, not much else happens on the farm. Jacob and the hired hands are elbow deep in corn production, while carring for the few animals that reside on the farm (Unnoticed gifts from Mac). Jason is mostly absent from the farm, only coming back to sleep, as he continues his crash course education in priestliness.Time and Weather wrote:Location:Templar Farm, 1 mile outside of Merctown.

Jessie smirks. "I doubt he'd even humor the idea, unless he was really drunk... then I couldn't say. As I said to Jason, I'm currently free to pursue my own destiny so to speak, so no deals needed. Also yes, you lived because I willed it... that was it... definitely." Jessie says as she walks away laughing.Rufus wrote:"I sincerely hope you both do. It's good to be back on the home continent. It's still a bit warm for a Lazlo citizen like Prudence, but the plants and animals are more familiar to the scholar, and she needs to spend less time studying a map. Good thing that, because unlike the Germans she'd been working for, nobody around here understands integrated computer networks.
Kelly notices people working on the farm. So its not just an old farm being used as a mercenary camp. They kept it operational. Maybe I can assist there. Better they use me that way rather than a gunfight.
Of course, Kelly ruins things running her mouth a mile a minute the second someone interacts with the wired scholar. Out comes a barely paused word salad that screams 'I don't like sleep and love stimulants'.
"Greetings. I am Doktor* Prudence Kellogg. The people I was working with last called me Kelly most of the time, and that's fine. I was told maybe there was some work here. "Well, hello there Calvin. My name's Prudence Kellogg. Most everyone calls me Kelly. I'm lookin' for work. I know a thing or two about plants and chemicals. Got some degrees to back all that up. Just got back from a tour of Europe working for their diplomatic corps." The Rogue Scholar offers her hand to the golden monkey for a shake.

Oh, She appears to be the wandering scholar type huh. Welp, Jason said try and figure her out and see what's going on...
Calvin closes his eyes briefly and enacts See Aura (-6 ISP).
Early to Medium level experience, no magic, no psionics, no possessing entity, seems human. Bit jittery... hrmn, what's going on here...

"Nice to meet you Ma'am. I am the team medic. This is the Templar Homestead. Welcome."
"Our leader is Jason Long. He's currently in town on an errand. Would you like a quick tour of the farm with Jacob and I?"
Calvin gestures towards the inside the homestead to take a tour of the farm.

"Ja, to bi bilo ful kul..." he mutters to himself. "Alright, boss, I'm off. Don't take another job on the far side of the planet while I'm away, okay?"
Fresh off his multi-day communion with the ley line, Rufus is feeling well-rested and fully energized with the newly-acquired knowledge of how to summon a ley line storm of his own making. For the moment, his deep-seated feelings of inadequacy are back buried in the depths of his mental closets-- exactly where he likes them.
Flying back to the farm courtesy of a flight spell (it beats having to find long-term parking in town for his hovercycle) he finds Calvin deep in the process of tallying up the mother of all shopping lists. He gives the list a looking over, offers his feedback, and even helps drive the APC to help haul it to market.
He spends the next few days around the farm, checking to make sure Carny is operating normally (without any hint of murderous subroutines) and making sure all his personal equipment is properly restocked/up to speed. And if the group acquires the NG labor drone, he'll help make sure it's qualified to pilot/work on as many of the Templar vehicles (and the farm vehicles) as possible.
He's puttering away inside the Explorer's barn/warehouse/garage when his sensitive ears pick up the whine of a hover craft -- a rather large hover craft -- approaching the farm.
"Pozdravljen in dobrodošel, prijatelj Kelly," Rufus gives a slight bow. "As Calvin said, welcome to the Templar homestead. By way of introductions, I'm Rufus of Clan Longfang from the village of Houndstooth, not far outside of Lazlo. Did I understand correctly in that you're looking for work with the Templar? We're just recently back from traveling abroad ourselves -- I'd love to hear about your adventures as well. Plus we'd be interested in hearing about your particular skill sets." He glances at her Salamander. "Aside from piloting large hover vehicles, of course. I think that part's pretty obvious..." he adds with a chuckle.

Rufus breathes a slightly-louder-than-intended sigh of relief. "Well, please consider our home your home for as long as you'd like..." He adds a chuckle. "This batch of morons is glad to have you. Both of you."Consumer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:33 am Jessie takes the book back. "You're welcome. "I really don't have anywhere else to go, I was effectively removed from my home, such as it was, by a moron. Now I have a mobile home, so I can't complain too much. I'll let you know if I need anything." Vlad says.
Rufus raises an eyebrow as Jessie walks away. "You know, boss, I don't know that I can remember ever hearing her laugh before..." he gives Jason a sideways glance, not entirely sure how he feels about it. There's definitely more to her than we know... he thinks to himself, then snorts audibly. Well OF COURSE there's more to her than we know! She's a freakin' valkyrie! An honest-to-Od warrior maiden servant of Asgard! You've been hugged by a bona fide supernatural being straight out of Norse mythology! He shakes his head. No, not 'mythology.' Reality. Whatever -- or whoever -- she may be, she's as real as you are. For all you know she's really one of the actual Norse gods adventuring here on Earth in disguise just like in some of the old stories. Which would make you a friend of an actual god -- and wouldn't that make ol' Seppy jealous...Consumer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:33 amJessie smirks. Also yes, you lived because I willed it... that was it... definitely." Jessie says as she walks away laughing.

Rufus raises an eyebrow at the girl's mannerisms and speech patterns. Something's not quite right here... he thinks to himself as he takes a few inquisitive sniffs in her general direction. Jason is tired, but filled with a strange energy as he drives Bonaparte back to the farm. The more he learns, the more certain he is that Athena is all he was hoping for as a god. Focus, you still need to see about this newcomer. Then you can tell the others what you've been up to.
As Jason pulls the VHT up to the barn, he sees the Salamander. interesting take on a vehicle, I wonder how many modules it can tow. He parks Bonaparte in the hangar and walks over to where Rufus and Calvin are speaking with the newcomer. He is not surprised to see that the driver of such a large vehicle is a smaller, if not short, person. that's the way of the universe, ain't it
Jason holds out his hand to the newcomer as he walks up and inserts himself into the conversation. "Good evening miss. I'm Jason Long, VHT driver and leader of the Templar. I trust that Rufus and Calvin have been treating you well. What can we do for you?"
