Mission Notes
Other Notes:
Several days have passed since arriving at Center. It’s early in the afternoon when a cyborg appears on the landing pad, and approaches the ship. A chirp from the radio, tells of an incoming message. ”Afternoon gents, my boss sent me here to call in your favor. We can either meet in your ship or on the pad, either is fine by me, as it won’t take me very long to give you the message.” The voice says over the radio. Anyone on the bridge see’s it Kallen, one of the smugglers who got the Rogues access to Croc in the first place.

Kallen stands patiently near the boarding ramp awaiting the team to meet with him. Wherever the group decides to meet him, Kallen nods and produces a holographic image for the group to see. The bulky humanoid in an expensive suit sits gently stroking a cephalopod. ”I’m calling in my favor, a rather simple task with two parts. I need you to deliver a package that Kallen will give you once the video is done, and once delivered I need you to listen to the recipient’s request. Whether you accept his request or not is not something I am concerned about as long as the package arrives unopened and intact to him. Once that is completed, your debt to my organization is complete. Kallen give them the package and the delivery info.” The video says before cutting out.

Kallen for his part pulls a small package from a pocket, no more than three inches square, along with a disk. Kallen hands them to the first person who reaches for them. ”Alright then, I’m off. Long trip back down to level thirteen.” Kallen says before leaving through the Phase Transporter Pad on the edge of the landing pad. This leaves the Rogues with a non descript metal box, and a data disk containing some manner of information.

Glitch is on the bridge, still running through some design ideas and modifying his plans when the radio call comes in. Log: Transformable Chassis design nearly 50% complete; expected cost to be between 10-15 million on the low end. Glitch processes as the chip comes in prompting him to halt the process and save it to resume later. "We will lower the ramp and meet you outside." Glitch responds over the radio then queues the internal Rogue's private radio channel. "We have someone here to call in a favor. Meeting them at the ramp of the Rogue." Glitch informs the rest of the crew onboard or with their radios.

Glitch studies the holocall and records the visage of the bulky humanoid stroking a cephalopod using his EVAS system. Observation: Disconcerting; someone in this group owes them a favor and now we are doing a job without promise of payment. Outright refusal would likely spark some other backlash. Glitch observes. Glitch only nods once in response to the holocall then looks to Kallen. Glitch will take the 3in square object and the data disk. Once Kallen leaves, Glitch turns to the others, still holding the items, then goes inside the ship without a word.

While returning inside, Glitch will place the 3in cube into one of his secret compartments (left leg) and then connect the data disk to the Rogue's terminal to get a read out of the delivery information. Glitch will also copy all relevant information from the datadisk to his memory for easier access.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

"Alrighty, on my way." Mungo replies to Glitch over the radio and casually makes his way down towards the ramp. I wonder what this is about? It's not like we encourage guests. Mungo pauses as he considers for a moment. It strikes him that it's been a long time since he's hosted a dinner party. That's a real shame, now I think about it. It's not that he had hosted many, but the few he did were rather enjoyable. That was back during an, oh so brief, brief window in time when I tried to live a 'normal' life...

Mungo lets out a rueful smile as he glances around the ship and his roguish companions as they file past on their way to the meeting. These fuckers are anything but 'normal'.

"Yeah, well that worked out famously didn't it?" He says to no one but himself. Lost in thought of a life he could probably never achieve, he arrives late to the meeting.

"Cheerio then Kellen. Do look after your wee buddy, he's adorable!" Mungo calls after the visitor.

He watches Glitch walk back into the ship. He looks around at the others. I wonder what happened? He asks himself. Upon a couple of seconds of reflection, he decides that he simply doesn't care. I'll find out when I need to.

He stretches up and rubs his head vigorously with three tentacles. "Day beers? Is anyone up for day beers? Feels like a great day for it!"

Reading in her room, sitting on a well-made bed in a room that is just as kept, Trorrie's eyes lift from the words on the pages as if there were a great inconvenience done when Glitch comes over the radio and lets out a breath before getting up, setting the book down with a book mark to keep her page. She makes her way down and talks to herself on the way down the stairs "Who could POSSIBLY need a favor at this time?" She stops abruptly to almost running into a crewman, "We need to pay more attention."

"Who's at the door?" She asks, having arrived a few seconds after the ramps finishes opening. She tries to look hospitable at seeing Kallen for the first time, "Hello there. who're you?"

Trust: 1d100: [25] = 25 /45%

She listens along with the favor being called in, giving a nod or two in the process. And why does this have to include me at all?

She maintains her hospitality as he turns and leaves, "Okay. You take care now and have a safe trip."

"He seems nice enough." She says as she turns to look at the others present. "But who's friend?"

"Day beer?" She looks to Mungo when the cephalopod asks. "What kind of beer? The quick brewed kind like lager? Something a bit hardier, like a Ale? Maybe something fermented from something else?"

"I'm not saying no. Just asking if there's something specific in mind."

The day after going out as Guy Incognito, Pertinax wakes up in a good mood; jolly, some might say. At the very least, he is acting as if he will be bearable until they receive their next mission. He still spends most of his time readings his dour tarlok literature, but he also listens to music; he walks through the public areas of Center in the afternoon, 'to see the sights'; he stops to listen to the buskers playing on the corners of avenues. He doesn't care for the music, to be honest, but he is trying new things and does not hate them (too much).

The arrival of a guest at the docks is a nice break from his new routine.

Pertinax grabs his usual array of weapons and heads to the ship's ramp. He is indifferent to seeing Kallen. The last time you saw him, you were asking a favor. You should not expect this to be a social call.

Pertinax watches Glitch take the disk. So it is time to pay that debt. Kallen could have asked for worse. And you might even enjoy this mission "We may as well go in and listen to this assignment. It sounds like we might have a job offer at the end."

"Not a friend," Pertinax says. "Associate. We asked for help tracking down someone that destroyed our base a while back. He is now calling in the debt we owe."

He taps the disk with his king finger twice, "Now how do we turn on the video?"

The arrival and passage of Kallen goes quickly and smoothly with him meeting Glitch, Trorrie, Mungo, and Pertinax at the foot of the loading ramp. Package in hand, and the smuggler gone, Glitch goes on to look at the info, while Yates sleeps and Bryke slowly works on a project.

The info is pretty simple: the package is heading to a man named Vin Meric, who is located on a space station in a small system on the edge of CCW space. Dextros is a waypoint on one of the trading arms heading out of the Corkscrew Galaxy, consisting of three planets and three asteroid belts surrounding a small red dwarf sun. There is one Galaxy-class space station acting as the local government seat, with dozens of habitations scattered among the planets and planetoids in the system. By best estimate it will take the Rogue two weeks to get there.

The mission is straightforward enough. That is how it always starts. The complications will come later. Pertinax uses his telepathy to summon the teammates who didn't meet Kallen on the ramp. YATES! BRYKE! WE HAVE AN ASSIGNMENT. REPORT TO THE SHIP'S LOUNGE FOR BRIEFING.

Once they arrive he provides them a cursory outline of the mission. "We have been asked to repay a debt. Several months ago, the Rogues reached out to Kallen and his 'associates' for help tracking the Raggedy Man."

"Kallen has called in the favor," he taps his king finger on the package. "We have been asked to deliver this to one Vin Meric (boring name) in the Dextros System. I propose we use the next 24 hours to get our affairs in order and then ship out. Good talk."

If anyone asks why they should go on the assignment, Pertinax coldly says, "The Rogues, as a team, are obligated to carry out this favor. If you are a part of the team, then you accept all of the team's obligations, including this assignment. If you do not want to travel, please vacate the ship, it is for the team only."

He then heads out to take care of any final shopping he needs to take care of. He buys enough supplies for the ship to last two months*. He also stops to buy a new coffee machine. Someone, Pertinax cannot care enough to remember who, once told him that a good cup of coffee would change his day. So he adds it to the list of 'things to try to enjoy'.

After he gets back from his shopping, he gets on his HPC, and starts to research the Dextros System - how firm is CCW control of the system, main industry and largest companies, crime, etc. He also sees what he can find any information on Vic Meric, including species, occupation, and any other defining features.

* Consumer, I'm willing to take care of that in the marketplace, or we can fiat that reasonable purchases were made and you deduct what is necessary from the Rogue's group fund.

"Ten more minutes.." Yates mumbles through his half-asleep haze, before he realizes that the beckoning call was actually deeply embedded in his mind. With some reluctance, Yates gets up, leaves his quarters and reports to the lounge as requested for the briefing.

Why the sudden rush? the Timneh wonders sleepily.

"Great talk darling," Yates echoes at the completion of Pertinax's debrief. But it isn't clear how many of the words meaningfully made it into the Timneh's conscious mind. Like a bobble-head set to 'nod', Yates agrees his way through the short briefing even though his eyes are quite droopy and at risk of closing. At no point does he breach the topic of 'why', seemingly perfectly content to wander along with the Rogues into potential danger. Proving that he is either incredibly brave, or utterly naïve. Or perhaps that he has equal helpings of both.

Not much of a planner, and with a higher priority in mind, the return to a comfy pillow, Yates is quick to return to his quarters to get some more beauty sleep. If this costs the Rogues later due to unpreparedness, Yates doesn't know (or care).

Glitch dissects the information on the datadisk and compiles it into the ship's computer, attempting to see if the ship has any record of the Dextros System. Log: Dextros System; Fringes of CCW Controlled Space; Space station orbiting a red dwarf star; three mining planets and three asteroid belts. Untold number of mining operations and unsanctioned bases. Should be easy to blend in so long as none of the organics on the crew cause trouble. Recipient is Vin Meric; potential follow-up job. Will need to determine if payment is worth it, but considering this job is apparently gratis... will heavily consider it. Glitch logs the information into his memory banks.
Pertinax wrote:"We have been asked to repay a debt. Several months ago, the Rogues reached out to Kallen and his 'associates' for help tracking the Raggedy Man." ... "Kallen has called in the favor," "The Rogues, as a team, are obligated to carry out this favor. If you are a part of the team, then you accept all of the team's obligations, including this assignment. If you do not want to travel, please vacate the ship, it is for the team only."
Glitch's iris zeroes in on Pertinax. Observation: So it was him and the others who made the deal. I must educate these organics on offering gratis missions. Glitch considers. "Making deals on behalf of the group forcing us into gratis missions when you are not the designated leader is hazardous... for your health." Glitch comments coldly as Pertinax leaves to finish off his shopping. Glitch ignores the comments of the others, keeping his iris zeroed on Pertinax as the tarlok leaves.

Glitch needs nothing from the market, and instead checks his rifle and sword to ensure efficiency then heads to the bridge to get the ship ready for take off. He will cycle out his Technical Computers program package for his piloting package.

Mungo nods thoughtfully. I hadn't given it that much though to be honest. He realizes.

"Well, I hadn't really thought that far ahead. I guess I was planning on drinking whatever was within reach... Or just beyond it. Or worst case, whatever we could get delivered. If I had to choose, lager would be about right."

Mungo does a double-take a Glitch. "Weren't you there? Like fighting dear ol' RM. Unless I'm completely barking mad it was You, Me, Pertinax, Bryke and that Puma fellow who kakked his pants. Fred perhaps? No shame in that, by the way. The body reacts in unexpected ways once situations get ... Real."

Mungo shrugs. "I, for one, am fine doing this jobbie. If we turn it down then word will spread and it'll be harder and harder to get info, jobs and whatnot in the future. Besides, it's not like I've much else on at the moment."

He then spends the rest of the day sitting on top of the ship watching the world go by as he casually drinks day beers.

A familiar "knock at the door" of The Promethean's well guarded mind let's him know that a certain team member wishes to confer mentally- albeit a pressing that is uncommon, Bryke lets down his automatic defense at about the time that Pertinax speaks his name and the message that followed.

Taken aback The Promethean processes the mental transmission in still silence, closing off transmission to ruminate, having private inner dialogue, did you just bark orders little guy?? who the F- "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU SCREAM PROJECTING AT TARLOK?!?!!!" Bryke's mouth nearly salivates having had it open for so long - if Prometheans salivate that is - his return projection goes thru to Pertinax if he allows, "WE ARE BARELY EQUALS, AND THAT IS ONLY BASED ON CURRENT PERSONAL MERIT- WHAT THIS ONE THUS FAR KNOWS OF YOU!" Ok... ok.. big finish, he gets no passes hell no... "TAKE. SOme. Bass. out... and maybe ASK- " He emphasizes the word "ask" not scream project and slowly comes down to a tolerable "tone", "again Pertinax."

Whether or not Pertinax listens to the whole return response without, "hanging up" Bryke remains working on his project(s). No one fetches me like some mindless thing. A deeply dour look on the face of the little giant, he pauses unable to stop reliving a scene from life times upon life times ago. Moody he finally continues with his work, protesting aloud to no one but the denizen faeries, sprites and bogarts The Promethean sometimes imagines to be there working aside him, and pulling pranks, "Besides, This One will get the information from the ships computer or Glitch or another personally" Ahhh Glitch... predictable- no, maybe- no... but like any working machine, efficient.

The group goes over the mission’s very brief parameters, before making the decision to allow for a day’s preparation. Trorrie and Pertinax do a little research before the flight, while Bryke keeps working in the shop.

A day passes and the Rogues take off, the trip is boring, nothing of interest really happens, except Bryke finishing his project, though it doesn’t come out quite as planned. After two weeks the ship exits Lightspeed and finishes the distance to Dextros Station, if it has another name, it is unknown to the party.

The station is huge, five miles in height and three miles in width at its widest point, kind of built like a top, anchored in a geosynchronous orbit above a small rocky planet with little to no atmosphere. Several large capital ships and dozens of smaller ships are docked or orbiting near the station, with several pairs of fighters patrolling the area in fairly obvious patterns.

”Unidentified ship, please transmit your information and state your business.” Comes a brusk voice over the general ship frequency. It repeats a few times in other languages.

Even when not directly asked about it, Trorrie obviously isn't thrilled about where they are headed, only willing to go, do what they're there to do, and leave lest how boring the system be infects them. If a mineral or ore operation seem interesting, she would be as though it were the system's only saving grace.

Final arrival to the system is met with an audible sigh from the Draconid, sitting at the table in the rec room reading one of her new books. A decent book by the light sway of a foot as she ignores almost everything else. The ding of a microwave the only thing to get her attention for a single serve cup of noodle. She leaves the book face down on the table to fetch it. If someone were to peek at what were and about, entitled Three Lost Systems, it looks to be reminiscent of Firefly going from a brief scan of the page she left it open on.

She looks up like she were inconvenienced when a stranger comes over the radio and it would seem she couldn't be bothered unless she actually has to be as she calls out, "Is someone gonna answer that or do I have to get up?"

Mungo passes the trip exploring the ship. It occurs to him at some stage that, if this ship could talk it must have some interesting stories. So he meanders around daydreaming of what this mishmash of a ship witnessed in its past. Not that he finds many clues of any goings on in the past. It helps him pass the time by conjuring up several story arcs of poorly paced, character-centred tragic comedy based on a band of misfits that barely know each other.

So, nothing like real life then... He obverses dryly at some point. There is one thing that worries him slightly though. He's started talking to the ship out loud. Hopefully it doesn't mind whatever pet name Mungo has for it at any given moment, like 'Shippie-ship-ship Ship'.

When they arrive Mungo checks out the assorted ships orbiting the station. He lets out a low whistle.

"Huh, Capital Ships? That's bigger than I expected. So I guess there is gunna be a bunch of navy people station-side. If I had to guess I'd say these station chaps will take their security pretty seriously. I suggest we be on our best behavior."
He says to the rest of the team. "I'll leave responding to their call to someone with more military experience than I. First impressions count etc etc"

The flight to the Dextros Systerm is uneventful, as usual. The only thing of note is that Pertinax was slightly less abrasive than usual. He still maintains a stiff professional demeanor on while on duty, and he otherwise keeps to himself. But he doesn't sigh as audibly when Glitch takes the pilot seat. On top of that, he also makes a pot of coffee for the crew every morning. Do you feel like a better person because you are a more courteous teammate?

But Pertinax makes sure to be in the pilot's seat when they reach the Detrox system. As they approach the main space station, Pertinax picks up the radio broadcast.
Dock authority wrote:Unidentified ship, please transmit your information and state your business.
"This is the Rogue requesting permission to dock," Pertinax replies. "We are here on a routine delivery. Please hold while I transmit the ship's credentials."

Once given permission, Pertinax flies the ship into port. Once the ship is docked he will get on the radio and asks the dock authority, "Do you know where we can find Vin Meric?"

Yates spends two weeks mucking about, doing his best impression of living the slug's life. He can most often be found in the Rogue's Lounge/Rec room. He seems intent on watching all the action holovids on record in the Rogue's databanks (or barring making his way through that, all the intergalactic soap operas) in one sitting. With close proximity of the Mess to the Lounge, on rare occasion, he can be spotted grabbing some quick-heating meal to drag back to the Lounge. Oftentimes setting the plate of food on his belly as he epitomizes the couch potato.

I wonder if there is a competition for who can belly-balance the largest plate of food at once. Bet I could win that. He thinks absently as he relocates his plate by shifting his belly like a waveform so that he can see past it.

"Pssht! I can't believe Cassandra cheated on Derek!" Yates is heard exclaiming once.

Or "Darling! It's HER baby!" he exclaims victoriously at another time. Clearly the only one capable to have unraveled such a deep mystery.

When the call comes in from Dock Authority, Yates is in the middle of a mid-afternoon nap in the lounge. His legs draped over the top of the sofa, Season 23, Episode 8 playing in the background on the holovid and a luxurious strand of drool dangling precariously from the corner of his open-beaked mouth.

He does not wake.

Glitch studies the station as they arrive in the system and takes in its dimensions as they approach, specifically the different capital ships that are docked to the station. Observation: Large trade port with several capitol ships; potential obstacle to avoid. Glitch notes as the intelligence attempts to identify the specific capitol ships that are docked.

Before Glitch can answer, Pertinax does. Glitch will transmit the credentials requested without speaking, allowing the tarlok to speak to the docking station. During their approach, Glitch will also scan the Station for any external defenses and other threats the Rogue might need to be concerned about should things go sideways due to the inefficiency of organics.
Pertinax wrote:"Do you know where we can find Vin Meric?"
As if on queue, Pertinax's next question over the Dextros communication line prompts Glitch to release an audible buzz as Pertinax openly asks docking control about Vin Meric. Observation: Pertinax needs a lesson in discretion. He turns to the tarlok while still on the bridge. "This contact could well be a criminal or other unsavory organic and you just broadcasted our intention. You need to practice subtlety." Glitch states with apparent disapproval.

Glitch will then leave the bridge and head down the ship to ensure everyone is up and ready to go. When he finds Yates still asleep, the intelligence stares at the sleeping avian for a moment in a truly creepy fashion before speaking. "Yates. We have arrived at Dextros Station and docked." Glitch states loud enough to hopefully rouse the sleeping avian.

The Promethean eyeballs his current finished work with a bit of unrest about the thing. Not exactly how intended, but it does get the job done. Couldn't quite figure the uncoupling forces of Naruni's tool this time... had to settle on what we have here. in any case, no completed project is ever a failure, but one way of NOT how to do a thing- surely some wretched human said that somewhere in antiquity, never the less, The Promethean is apt to agree since there are not many beings this side of the megaverse who can breathe life into their ideas- well there are the Gene Splicers, and just about any mage and- ahh ok there are more than a few but still- this will do as a backup if ever a focus is lost or damaged. Ultimately satisfied with the serendipitous outcome of his non-fully-intended creation, Bryke tosses it into a deep pocket of his cloak and then regularly throughout the two week duration, recalls the things learned from Bel.

While aboard the ship Bryke does regular checks on equipment and promthean's his station periodically as the Rogues have previously worked out before gaining new recruits. Much of these things can be handled by the android - Don't recall ever seeing that one sleep however, depending solely on the inorganic is first rude, he thinks, but at some time could also, potentially, prove fatal.

For the two week trip Bryke does pre-determined duties of checking that the "Ghost" is ready to fly, as well as Comm station, and other checks. Often thinking about his training as a 'Wizard and what he can do to improve there.

He takes a few days off of tinkering to contemplate, but then gets back to it, in the workstation, breaking at the times his alarm goes off to let him know when to do checks and such.

When at last the radio chatter comes, Bryke was unusually not on post, instead The Promethean was struck staring at the spectacle that is Yates. Walking up aside and behind Glitch, subconsciously always outside of the assassins kick-length range, he hears Glitch rouse The Timneh and speaks unconsciously under his breath- "Someone should get that one a drip pan."

For a short while Pertinax and Glitch bicker like old people, while piloting the ship in tandem. Mungo watches the whole spectacle for the comedy it’s worth, while eyeing the station and its visitors. Whomever is on the other end of the channel for the station waits patiently for Pertinax to forward the ship's credentials. It takes a minute or two for them to respond. ”Credentials received, please hold for the station docking system to pull you in.” It appears that the Dextros station leaves nothing to operator error, pulling ships in with docking tractor beams. While the ship slowly makes its way to whatever bay or berth the system admins have deemed the Rogue worthy of, Glitch takes the time to study the station for “safety” reasons. The Station itself boats several capital scale cannons of some manner, and what seems to be enough point defense guns to likely level any ship it feels like. This is coupled with the pickets of manned fighters orbiting the area around the station. As for the Capital scale ships docked currently, only two of them appear to be ships of war, one clearly bearing the markings of the CCW while the other one is a bulky freighter of unknown manufacture. The other capital ships are what some in the industry call super haulers, holding literal millions of tons of goods to be transported across the three galaxies.

Eventually Glitch goes to gather Yates, and finds Bryke arriving about the same time. Glitch makes a nominal effort to wake the Timneh.

A few minutes later, the whole crew feels a thump as the ship has finally been docked. The Crew of the Rogue find themselves in a rather full docking bay with at least another dozen ships of a similar weight class as the Rogue, though none of them appear to be as well armed.
Pertinax wrote:"Do you know where we can find Vin Meric?"
”Sir this is station control, we’re not an information center.” The voice says before the line just goes dead. From his spot in the cockpit, Pertinax can see several people standing near the landing pad, apparently waiting for the crew to depart.

Glitch takes in the visual defenses of the station and notes the CCW Capitol ship and the Super-haulers. After docking is complete, Glitch will return to the cockpit and look out the windows to get a visual of the area. Observation: Would not station control be the ideal information center with crew and ship credentials at their disposal? Glitch observes silently, wondering if they do indeed know Vin Meric.

When he identifies the personnel on the ground level, or is told about them by Pertinax, the Intelligence releases a buzz. "An Inspection or Security team, perhaps. Organic mind to organic mind. One of you should deal with them. I will maintain the item and observe." Glitch states, looking to Pertinax, directly telling Pertinax that he or some other organic on the crew go deal with the docking security. Glitch confirms the item is still secured in his secret compartment and checks his weapons just in case. Plausible Conclusion: Inspection Crew most likely; unless a security crew roused by Pertinax's question.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

Looking out a window as the ship is docked, Trorrie goes from already wanting to go, to willing to give the planet a shot. Even with the realization that most of the capital ships are super-haulers after a moment, the Draconid considers other options. Is this sad rock worth something? What am I thinking, it barely has anything. She smirks to herself as she waits then it fades as she realizes she is not where she first thought. This is not the rock. This is the station out of orbit of said rock. "I might be dumb." Comes seemingly out of nowhere softly to herself.

She makes her way to the bridge with the ship docked and partially to be humorous and almost as much to be a pain casually goes, "Are we there yet?"

The suggestion of someone other than him meet the team awaiting them. "You suuure they're worth the dragon's attention? Even If it's probably just the welcome crew?"

She checks via looking from a window, camera angle, or maybe even via whatever sensor it is easiest to access to have a look at the crew awaiting them outside the rogue. She then looks at Yates like he was looking for new friends. "Unless our couch potato would like to greet the nice people outside?"

Should Yates have chosen not to go out to meet the welcome committee, or any other for that matter, Trorrie goes out first, many times nicer to them than whatever the Rogues are used to by now, providing responses such as, "Can I help you?, And, "Yes, this is a small delivery to a customer.", whatever answer she can provide to questions asked. The only answer to not be given being is what the package is as she was not paying attention to what it was, having only heard the where it goes and to whom it is to be delivered.

Pertinax relaxes into the pilot's seat as the Rogue is pulled into the station by tractor beam. Now you can focus on the more pressing matters of this assignment. If the station is not too large, you might be able to locate Vin Meric's office* very easily. So the dreadmaster radios his query to the station.
Glitch wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2024 10:11 pm"This contact could well be a criminal or other unsavory organic and you just broadcasted our intention. You need to practice subtlety."
"That is possible," Pertinax scowls, "but we are approaching this station as couriers, it is perfectly normal to ask for directions around the station, it makes us less suspicious. So long as we do not have to deal with customs we will be fine."
Dock authority wrote:"Sir this is station control, we’re not an information center."
The tarlok's gills flare open in annoyance. "It is not like you have a better idea." After another annoyed sigh, he says, "Fine, we shall go explore the port."
Glitch wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 9:33 am"An Inspection or Security team, perhaps. Organic mind to organic mind. One of you should deal with them. I will maintain the item and observe."
Pertinax looks at the robot suspiciously. "Conversation with a stranger? That would require being 'sociable' and 'outgoing'." Your preferred method of extracting information is not ideal for this. Your recent forays notwithstanding, you are new to 'making friends'. He looks around the station's dock. It is nowhere near as big as Center (and not ravaged by the Minion War either). "Hrm. I am sure I can figure out where we need to go. Follow me."

And sure enough, getting to Sector M, Level 98 is easy enough. The station's lifts are easy to find, and the halls are labeled for easy navigation. Mostly. It takes four passes around the sector to find the door to Keratos Imports, as Pertinax insists he knows where he is going regardless of what his teammates might say. He stops in front of a door and finally looks at the sign next to it. Without a comment he knocks on the door.

Mungo nods. "Good. Somehow I feel reassured knowing that you'll do both of those things. I hate carrying the 'important thing', I'm always paranoid that I could lose it."
Trorrie wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 2:55 pm "You suuure they're worth the dragon's attention? Even If it's probably just the welcome crew?"
Mungo looks at Torrie. A dragon? This dude's probably as much a dragon as I am a Splugorth. Like Unkie Spoog and I both have tentacles and that's where the similarity ends.

"Yeah, we should all go and say hi. In some places, it's just considered good form to go and say hello in person. Space stations are often one. The locals just want to see who they are letting on board."
Pertinax wrote: Wed Aug 21, 2024 12:57 pm "Conversation with a stranger? That would require being 'sociable' and 'outgoing'."
Mungo snickers. "Nah, you're setting the bar too high. All conversation with strangers really requires is appearing 'non-threatening' and being 'tolerable'." He looks up at the Tarlock and pauses. Then with a wave of a tentacle, he continues. "Yeah, okay. Go for 'sociable' and 'outgoing' and you might land somewhere around 'non-threatening' and being 'tolerable' ".

Once out of the ship, Mungo lets the others do the talking. He goes full Smuggler-checking-out-the-vibe-of-a-place mode. He looks around a lot, taking the place in. He tries to get a sense of what kind of station this is. He checks out the structure of the place; is it well maintained? Is anyone spending money on it? How clean is it? What does the Grafitti on the walls tell him, if there is any?

He lets his eyes roam over the crowd noting any races he recognizes. He pays attention to anyone who seems to be checking them out. Not focusing on anyone in particular, unless they stand out, he instead tries to 'read the room'. If they - the Rogues - were the actors on a stage, what kind of show would they need to put on to impress this audience?

Well, impress might be a bit too much to ask. Exiting the stage while not being shot at might be enough.

"Mmm Hmm," Yates mumbles in an unconvincing affirmative. Should Glitch (and Bryke?) remain vigilant in confirming the avian's awakening, he will instead see Yates roll over onto his belly, hugging one of the couch cushions as a pillow and then mouthing it absently with his beak.

Darling... I will whisk you away to an exotic island. We shall make passionate love with every sunset... Yates soap-opera infused dreams continue unabated in his mind.

The Crew of the Rogue find themselves in a rather full docking bay with at least another dozen ships of a similar weight class as the Rogue, though none of them appear to be as well armed.
The jostling more greatly threatens to wake Yates from his slumber, but without any intrinsic danger involved, instead just causes him to roll over onto his back, splaying wide his legs. The Timneh's fashionista choice of wearing a kilt to watch his holovids has very concrete consequences in this moment. Coupled with his sensual dreams, his sleep-addled arousal is plain for any in the lounge to see.

Yates indeed is not eager to greet a welcoming committee. He instead is VERY keen on seeing this dreamscape to its inevitable end. Though perhaps others on the ship might be less excited at his conclusion.

Without a second verbal alert, a physical intervention, or imminent danger threatening his person, Yates is unlikely to wake in time to become presentable for the inspection crew.

Arriving on the flight deck, Bryke feels the ship dock and becomes aware of security preparing to greet them. The Promethean mutes ships comms briefly and speaks quietly on the Rogues secure comm's. "There is no time to forge a dummy package, so it would seem our options now are to have a decent cover story and maybe a different rendezvous... one feasible and as someone may have already said, non-threatening?"

The crew is a little ill-prepared for this greeting, wonder how this simple challenge will be addressed.

Mungo: Streetwise (what is the vibe like on this station) From a brief glance the station seems to be rather ordinary, it doesn’t appear to be overrun with crime or under authoritarian lockdown at the very least.
Surveillance (is anyone following them?) No, but Mungo hasn’t exactly gone very far.
Lore: Galactic/Aliens (to note the various races of beings he sees.) The usual mix of different species generally native to the worlds of the CCW, along with a few others like Wolfen and a few of the lesser known races of the other galaxies. Mungo suspects the population of the station is likely very diverse given its nature as a start/stop point for trans galactic travel.
Mechanical Engineer (to quickly assess the structure of the place, is it in good condition or run down?) At a glance the station seems well maintained, or at the very least the docking bay the ship is in, is. Mungo can see the build up of grime and rust in the shadowy hard to reach places that likely only see maintenance every few decades, all in all the several century old station looks to be in decent shape.

While waking Yates seems to have mixed success, the crew prepares to depart. At the foot of the ramp stands a human male with thinning blonde hair and watery blue eyes, he’s wearing a blue uniform with the station’s name emblazoned on a patch on his breast, that seems maybe one size too small for his frame of an adult gone to pasture.. With him are a thin Noro woman in a simple white robe, with the station’s patch on it, a large dataslate in her hands, and flanking them two large humanoids wearing CCW combat armor, their species hard to identify behind the non-transparent faceplates.

”Welcome to Dextros station, I am Tariff Collector Tarch. Your ship’s information states you’re here on a delivery. I need to see your manifest to access the proper taxes.” Tarch says in a jovial voice.
Trorrie wrote:"Yes, this is a small delivery to a customer."
Tarch nods. ”That be as it may, I need to see a manifest or is this a courier run and not a goods delivery? Tarch says, still seemingly in a good mood.

If/when the group tells the Tarrif Collector it’s a courier delivery, his eyebrows raise. ”Ah, that’s a different fee then.” Tarch says looking to the Noro woman, who appears to be fiddling with her dataslate. ”Fifteen hundred credits for Courier deliveries.” The Noro says in a squeaky voice. ”There you have it, fifteen hundred credits and you are cleared to access the station.” Tarch says with a genuine smile.

"Well, that's not too bad, I guess." She says after clarifying it is a courier delivery. She hopes jokes can keep the interaction with the collectors going as smoothly as they are. "Is there a reason of Bulky one and Chunky?"

Trust: 1d100: [37] = 37 /75%

Low a cost as it would be, she would really rather someone else pay it and even asks who ever followed her out to greet the strangers if they could do it.

In her paying, she specifically uses the card she had transferred 180K too a while ago to pay the little fee in case the human were more a thief than your typical tax collector. Should something go wrong, her precious hoard wouldn't be too affected, though would still likely end very poorly for whomever tried to steal from a dragon.

If she had paid the rather cheap tax asked she catches up to the rogues and greets them with, "This station owes me a grand and a sandwich."

Pertinax greets the tariff collector at the the entrance of the ship. The presence of security keeps him from doing anything too clever. Just like you said to the auto-man, your best disguise is to act like this is a normal delivery. Which it is. You are just carrying a package for a friend. This is not even a real delivery job. Still, he activates his telepathic powers to scan the group's surface thoughts.
Tarch wrote:"Welcome to Dextros station, I am Tariff Collector Tarch. Your ship’s information states you’re here on a delivery. I need to see your manifest to access the proper taxes."
Pertinax gives a short but polite nod at the tax collector. "Pertinax, pilot of the Rogue."
He coughs and thinks of how to reply. You never thought to make a manifest for your cover identity. Why would you? It is only one sealed package. Still, you should know better. You have gotten sloppy.

"Why yes," Pertinax says taking Tarch's suggestion immediately, "we are in fact couriers. Delivering a personal item to someone living here."
Tarch wrote:"Ah, that’s a different fee then. Fifteen hundred credits for courier deliveries."
"Not a problem." He pulls out his credstick and pays the While you may object to paying taxes to any non-Tarlok government*, this is a convenient way to bypass security. He glances to the other Rogues on the ramp and glowers, "I expect to be reimbursed from the group fund when we return back to Center."

Once the fee has been processed, Pertinax looks back at his teammates. Noticing that Yates is not with them, he sends a psionic message in the direction of the Rogue's bunks. YATES. WE HAVE ARRIVED, MEET US ON THE RAMP SO WE CAN EXPLORE.

* He wasn't especially fond of paying his taxes to the Tarlok government either.

Glitch does not say anything to the official greeting them, however the intelligence does catalog the humanoids in CCW combat armor, the name of Tarch, and the Noro woman. Log: The use of CCW personnel as security implies this is largely controlled by the Consortium. What is legal or normal on Phase World is not here and could put any number of the organic crew members in a sight. My presence here must go unnoticed; The Consortium does not play well with free roaming intelligences. Glitch logs internally, recognizing he is likely the most at risk in the current situation by default and cycles his processor to behave and mimic organics as best as possible despite the intelligence's disdain. Before departing the Rogue and joining the others, Glitch slips into the generic flight suit the intelligence keeps on hand when he wants to remain unnoticed.
Pertinax wrote:" "I expect to be reimbursed from the group fund when we return back to Center.""
Glitch, interestingly, doesn't argue this at all and remains silent for the moment. If one could read the body language of an artificial intelligence, one might consider Glitch to be nervous though the Intelligence would never admit it. It is quite possible the Intelligence is even more on edge here than on Phase World or in a combat situation. "We should complete our delivery." Glitch states and then begins making his way to the prescribed destination from the datashard. Glitch has his secondary sensory systems active and is actively watching for a tail or potential encounter with security forces and will steer clear of them as best as possible while en route.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

Pertinax's stern psychic voice intruding into his dreams is enough to wake Yates up completely. Darling, of course... he mentally coos in return. But the lingering slumber can still be heard in his transmitted thoughts.

From his upside-down sleeping position on the couch, Yates kips-up and lands gingerly on his feet. He then quickly speeds back to his quarters, somersaulting over a table that had the nerve of being in his straight-line path.

Pertinax said 'explore'. So no robot. Probably not even armor. Street clothes and forcefield it is. Yates thinks once he arrives. In a flurry of activity that leaves a healthy mess on his floor, the Timneh quickly dons the forcefield and an outfit atop it.

Then, he acrobatically parkours his way through the Rogue, wall-running if necessary, until he finally reaches the ramp where everyone else is gathered and ready to enter the space station.

"Dressed to impress, darling. Where are we? What are we doing here?" Yates asks, clearly not having paid attention to prior briefings, nor fully invested in a 'courier'-type mission. Hopefully the squad won't run into too much combat as the Timneh's effectiveness may be limited given his fragile body and light armament.

Mungo gives Yate's outfit the old visual once over. "Looking good! I love what you've done with the textures, they are scrumptiously bold! Well, we are in a place, Dextros I think. We have to do a thing and deliver something to some fellow. I'm placing my trust into Pertinax and Glitch to worry about the actual details of the where what and when." He shrugs as he finishes.

He follows along with the others taking in the sights, such as they are.

Bryke in all his wanderings hasnt ever come to this port before. He is content allowing Pertinax to lead on this one, so he keeps the posture of a sharp lookout for this one.

Leaving his heavy weapons aboard ship, he watches and waits for dealings to be done with the local launchpad authorities. "Where are the best places for sightseeing and/or shopping around here." He says semi-privately to one of the most likely to speak to him as he sees it.

Tariff Collector Tarch seems a bit confused. ”What are you talk of?” The man says. While Trorrie isn’t sure, because her attention is hardly in the present, she feels like the two guards are radiating menace at this point.

It’s here that Pertinax introduces himself and pays the fee. Tariff collector Tarch nods. ”That concludes our business, enjoy your time on Dextros Station." Meanwhile Glitch makes some observations while Bryke tries to have a semi-private conversation with nearly a dozen people present.
Bryke wrote:"Where are the best places for sightseeing and/or shopping around here."
Tariff Collector Tarch looks at the Promethean. ”Sightseeing… here, now there is a joke. Shopping is really scattered through the middle levels, so unless you have something very specific you’re looking for, I would just check the local intranet.” With that the tax collector and his entourage head to another newly arrived ship.

The trip from the docking levels to Section M, Level 98 is relatively straight forward if not a little time consuming as it involves a long elevator ride up the station. Once on the propper level, it doesn’t take particularly long to find Keratos Imports LLC. A small storefront with the companies name in holo gives it away.

Mungo moves to the front of the group when they arrive at the desired location. "Righto chaps, here we are. Are we sure this is the place?... What's the name of the fellow we are looking for again?... right. got it."

Hmm delivering a package... Right, I have just the prop for that. He thinks as he conjures up a simple clipboard. (-5p.p.e.)

Mungo simply walks up to the door and enters the store, like he would any other store. Once inside he finds a shopkeeper, or clerk, or well just anyone really and asks a question. While making a show of apparently reading a list of names. A tentacle taps the board when he finds what he is looking for. "Hello, is Vin Meric available, please? We have a package to deliver to him."

Glitch turns his head ever so slightly to focus his iris on Mungo before replying. "Vin Meric." Glitch confirms for the octoman then heads down to Section M, Level 98 with the others. Glitch is characteristically silent while walking, simply observing what is around them and trying not to draw attention to himself. When/if he notices Mungo manifest the clipboard, Glitch logs the observation but otherwise does not comment. Log: Manifesting a new, random yet suitable item for the guise. What is the depths of his reality snapping abilities. Glitch considers.
Mungo wrote: "Hello, is Vin Meric available, please? We have a package to deliver to him."
When they arrive, Glitch pauses as Mungo simply walks in. Glitch follows suit though does not remove the delivery item from his secure compartment yet and instead observes the interior of the room. Glitch doesn't stop Mungo from taking the lead, the Octoman being far more adept at talking plainly with fellow organics. Instead, Glich is checking for bugs, explosives, and other such threats. Should the Vin Meric from the data shard be identified, and they do not appear to be in any danger, Glitch will produce the cube from his secret compartment.

"Thank you darling," Yates confirms, clearly appreciative of Mungo's recognition of his fashion-effort, "It's all about layers don't you know. Like an onion." The Timneh nods enthusiastically as if his explanation for the fashion were self-explanatory.

Onions have layers. Fashionable clothing has layers.

Should he desire, Yates will chitter on with Mungo about fashion ((Wardrobe & Grooming. d%: [2] = 2 | 62%)) as much as the octoman wishes. Collectively they make their way to Keratos Imports. Deciding not to crowd inside, the Timneh finds a spot outside with a view into the store.

And Yates is suitably impressed when Mungo steps up, produces a clipboard seemingly out of thin air, and addresses the individual manning the storefront.

"That's a neat trick!" Yates will remark to anyone who remains outside with him. Or softly to himself if he is alone in not having gone inside immediately. He is not terribly familiar with courier services, but it seems a little bit suspicious for an entire team to be involved with the actual hand-off.

Pertinax lets a curt snort at the discussion of fashion, because a dreadmaster that dresses like a gloomier version of Bill Belichick is one to judge clothing. But at least he's being helpful today, "We are delivering a package as a way of repaying a debt from a previous mission. After we deliver the package, we are listen to what its recipient has to say. It may be a job offer, it may be the griping of a petty bureaucrat; but what happens after that is unknown."

He follows the others along the corridors of the space station towards their destination. He glances over at Glitch, holding the package. Kallen and his people did not need a group like the Rogues to deliver a package. There is more to this mission that you cannot see yet. Be on guard!

When they arrive at Keratos Imports, Pertinax activates his telepathy once again (-4 I.S.P.). He scans the area for hostile thoughts and looks around to see if anyone is lingering. When someone opens the door, he likewise scans them for surface thoughts.

"Alright, byyyyyye." She responds once the collectors are done with their business and move on. Wanting to be done on the station, she starts for where the item i to be delivered.

On the way to the destination, she has to remind herself she is not the one with the item and should slow down. The conversation on fashion is the best at keeping her nearby and even mentions whichever clothing store they pass, though not entering. She could always check on the way back to the ship. She rocks back and forth on her heels, hands behind her back as she waits for the elevator ride to be over.

"Oh. Here it is." She remarks when she finally sees it. "But do we all really have to go in for the delivery?"

her nose scrunches at the mention of it potentially being a bureaucrat. "I hope not."

Pertinax's prob, should it fall in trorrie's general direction is met with a raspberry and her staring at him. She also inquires where and how Yates stored a clipboard on his person.

The Promethean pays little mind to who is looking when he asks, as the question is an attempt at a rouse any way. To not stand out while standing out. His mind blocked from intrusion as always he feins paying close attention with a, "You don't say..." and a meaningful "Hmm.." but as he looks at the individual or individuals speaking and paying attention to him he is watching the perimeter. Focusing on those around the group in the same way that a focusing lens on a camera can fade between fore and background without changing position on its tripod or making any noticeable outward changes.

Once all have arrived at their destination The Promethean too thinks it over kill and possibly even rude or maybe unprofessional he can't decide which at the moment, for the entire group to stack up in the establishment, and so he too waits outside the place on the other side of any doorways, watching them from outside if possible while also keeping lookout for any signs they were followed or are drawing unnecessary attention.

Bryke responds to Yates, "That one is quite resourceful for a meatba- uhm.. for a mortal."

As Mungo, Glitch, and Pertinax enter the shipping company, they find themselves in a small, but not overly cluttered waiting area. A single desk sits at the far side of the room with a elven woman sitting behind it, she seems infinitely bored. A half dozen chairs line one wall with a small shelf that holds a coffee maker with paper cups and the cheap fixings one would expect at a convenience store kiosk. The woman barely looks up as Mungo makes a beeline straight for her.
Mungo wrote:"Hello, is Vin Meric available, please? We have a package to deliver to him."
The elf looks up. "You're here for Vin... Okay, lemme buzz him." She says in a surprisingly nasally voice, one could only guess that her laugh is equally obnoxious. She pushes a button on an intercom on her desk. "Vin some folks here have a package for you." She says. A moment passes and a gruff voice from the other end speaks up. "send them back."

The trip to Vin's office is short, but it does give the impression that this place is more a office hub than a warehouse. Once to Vin''s office the trio can see a short stocky man bald save hair on the sides and back of his head. Wearing a pair of corrective glasses, adds only to make him seem even more strange. On top of all this, the rest of him seems to be extremely hairy, as evidenced from his open collar, and rolled up sleeves. When Pertinax, Mungo, and Glitch enter he looks up. "Who the hells are you three?" He asks.

Meanwhile out in the causeway, Bryke, Yates, and Trorrie stand around trying to not look out of place, but somehow doing exactly that, or likely would if any of the passerby's bothered to look in their general direction. All in all its extremely boring in this particular stretch of the station, with other small business lining both sides of the hall. Most appear to be some manner or variation of shipping businesses, and other than different names, all seem weirdly identical in nature.

Back in the office, When/If someone mentions a delivery from the Modarie, Vin perks up. "Ah, they found someone to listen to me." Vin says gesturing for the seats in front of his desk. "You can just set the package on the desk. What I really need is for you guys to listen to my proposal." Vin says, before hitting the intercom on his desk. "Seal the office for ten minutes, I have some private matters to discuss."

The group outside notices an Elven woman come out of the business, and close and lock the door before pulling a cigarette from her hand bag and making her way down the way to what may be a food stall. If she noticed the three beings standing near the office, she doesn't make it shown.

Back inside, Vin gets up and begins pacing a little. "While the Dextros System is a CCW controlled area, it mostly does what the local criminal element want through a series of bribes, blackmail, and good old fashioned threats of violence. This is all headed up by the Albrect Family and their head Don Simvas Formin. I have been under his thumb for far too long and would like to build some advancement opportunities. So here's the deal, you guys find Don Formin and kill him, and I pay you a buttload of credits." Vin says.

All in all its extremely boring in this particular stretch of the station, with other small business lining both sides of the hall. Most appear to be some manner or variation of shipping businesses, and other than different names, all seem weirdly identical in nature.
"Bored!" Yates complains loudly, finding a pebble on the ground to skip by kicking. Gesturing emphatically for Bryke and Trorrie, he continues, "Darlings... it is as though the shopkeepers of this area decided in a meeting to pick THIS color of grey." With exaggerated exasperation, Yates practically flings both arms at a wall painted the same drab color as every other nearby wall. "No pizzazz! No inspiration! So dull, ugh."

Is she heading out for food? That's a great idea! I'm so HUNGRY. SO bored. SO hungry!

Rapidly tapping Bryke and Trorrie on the shoulders like a child who just spotted a giant teddy bear they want, Yates physically screams for their attention. "Look... FOOD!"

Without further need for permission, Yates immediately runs off after the elven woman. Likely startling her, he runs up from behind and asks, "What kind of food? Spicy? Hearty? Soups?!"

Once in the office and Meric asks the question, Glitch brandishes the item. "We were contracted to deliver this item, and to hear a proposal from you." Glitch states matter of fact. When prompted, Glitch will set the package on Vin Meric's desk then stands motionless as he listens to Meric give orders to seal the office for ten minutes. Observation: He is concerned about being discovered. I am going to record this interaction as potential leverage. Glitch logs and activates his EVAS system to record the ten-minute conversation for future review and potential leverage should anything come back on them.

What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

Looking around and finding only dull walls, Trorrie let's out a disappointed breath and sits on a bench, the ground, or somewhere where she can fit to sit. "Well since we'll be waiting for a while."

She checks where she would store a book for a time like this and only finds disappointment, finding that she, in fact, did not bring something to read to pass the time. She protests to herself aloud, "Aaaand I can't even read."

Yates' outburst of his own boredom almost makes the Draconid jump as her head jolts to look at him. She lets out a breath like a disappointed baby sitter as she collects herself before only encouraging the Timneh with a smile. "You could find some paint or bobs and fix it up a bit."

The eventual emergence of the Elf from the location half the team is in and locking the door walking away gets a raised brow. What? What'd they do now?

Yates suddenly loudly getting her attention for food begins with a grimace from scream. She stares at him with a look that only says Did you really just dead ass scream with me right here? Her expression changes quickly when he then suddenly takes off after the now momentarily pitied Elf that may or may not have earned it, "Damn it Yates!"

Before getting up she hesitates, Should I save the bird brain from himself? A few seconds hesitation and the slow rise seems longer than it truly is as she intentionally is slow to respond. She walks after him close to a brisk walk and calls out to Yates. "I'm pretty sure she's not food ad doesn't want to be."

If she catches up to them before it escalates to much further, she apologizes to the elf, grabbing an arm of the Timneh, "I'm sorry about him."

She looks at Yates next, not sure how to respond simply as she is unsure what she just witnessed, but settles on, "Why?"

If Yates' actions have led to the beginning of an altercation, Trorrie settles on the use of psionics on the Elf woman in an attempt to calm the situation with

Vin Meric does not look like what Pertinax imagined. He looks so mundane, not the type of man that would need your services. He is mildly impressed when Meric seals the room. Regardless of his appearance, he is a man who means business. So the dreadmaster listens.
Vin Meric wrote:"While the Dextros System is a CCW controlled area, it mostly does what the local criminal element want through a series of bribes, blackmail, and good old fashioned threats of violence. Pertinax smiles. An old fashioned Red Harvest mission. You have done your share of those; though in the best it was to prepare the planet for subjugation by the Tarlok Empire. It will a change of pace to actually liberate a planet.
Mungo wrote: Tue Sep 10, 2024 1:21 am"Yes, I have a question. Could you please define the amount you have in mind when you say 'buttload of credits'? When it comes to money I am a big fan of actual amounts."
"Yes," Pertinax adds cooly, "we have a Promethean with us, and their rectal cavities can hold a large quantity of credsticks."

Pertinax listens to Glitch's questions and the answers that Meric provides calmly. If Meric hasn't provided the following information already, after a pause, Pertinax probes for more information: "Tell me more about the Albrect Family. What industries do they control? Presumably the ports, correct? What others? Any others? And what about law enforcement? Are they all on the Albrect Family's pay as well?"

Since his telepathic powers are still active, Pertinax scans Meric's surface thoughts while he provides details on the job. If he gets a sense that there is something more to this job, he will ask one final question, "And why do you want us to kill Don Fermin?" Pertinax asks at the end of the conversation. "I am assuming that you did not hire us on a whim. Did he wrong you personally, or is this a matter of business?"

If Meric asks why Pertinax is so nosy, he replies, "It is because your motives will impact how we carry out this task. Like my colleague said, we do not want to cause any collateral damage that you wish to avoid." And you do not want to be set up by some rival gang.

What to do, what to do... think that one will get into trouble in any arena. Wonder where he was raised and by whom... thespians, performers, or worse, shut-ins that never let him out of his cage.

"How DOES the caged bird sing-" Bryke inquires under his breath staring off at The Timneh, "indeed."

From his position The Promethean simply watches the one head after the other. He assumes most adeptly that The Draconid can handle anything the two beings could possibly think up- Unless she has a mini fusion-block hidden in a pocket somewhere He reflexively looks at the girls body posture and clothing, nahhh he turns away.

Standing alone, his attention bounces to the group in the building. Why don't they ever think to update the rest of the group? Communication is always paramount for success. Unsure how often a promethean is in this part of the galaxy, he scans the area slowly, consciously suppressing the urge to fidget.

Bryke does however begin to brood, perpetually fighting the chip on his shoulder and seething anger at most everything, think a flying robot bug need be acquired, shouldn't depend on Glitch to always do the thing.. it too is no ones to command...

He waits outside; the last lookout standing so it seems.

”Could care less, blow up half a planet to kill him for all I care. I do have some info, but you don’t get that till you say yes. I need to keep my own ass covered.” Vin says, obvious to the assassin droid that it’s not the first hit he’s called down.

”A promethean, funny. Again I ain’t got info unless you’re willing to do the job. Just because Farrin Tal sent you, doesn’t mean I trust you fully. I’m beginning to wonder why he thought you’d be a good fit for my predicament.” Vin says. Pertinax’s attempts to read his mind come back as mechanical static.

”So eight million, and I’ll give you a file. You go and kill him and then I’ll transfer the money to you… hell I can give it to you in hard currency if that is what you need.” Vin says, still pacing about and talking with his hands.

Meanwhile out in the hall, the wait gets to Yates as he rushes after the elven woman, talking loudly behind her about food. She doesn’t even look back as she approaches the stand and orders a bowl of some noodle dish while smoking. Trorrie, fast on Yates’ heels, sees there is likely not going to be any issue, except maybe Yates making a scene of himself in front of a small noodle stand. Meanwhile Bryke tries to keep a lookout, but sees nothing while generally looking lost.
