Buyer's Market Pawnshop (163)

Post by Underguard »

Image

A cluttered, poorly organized pawnshop that deals in every imaginable commodity. Garden variety items are kept on display in the showroom (old furniture, clothing, music discs, videos, household items, some basic weapons, etc.), but the big ticket items (guns, electronics, body armor, jewelry, rare books, artifacts, new and used cybernetics, etc.) are kept in a showroom behind the M.D. plexiglass-enclosed counter. The Buyer's Market pays 20% to 40% of market value for goods, holds them for 15 days and resells them for 25% below the market cost . If the individual beats the deadline they must pay a 10% premium to buy back their former property. This pawnshop is owned by a shady, sharp-nosed Rat mutant or D-Bee named Fenrick the Fence.

Vinnie parks outside of the pawnshop and eases himself out of the vehicle, locking the door as he exits. Won't be here too long. Vinnie walks in and sighs. Been a little bit since I've been here. Wonder if the stock has changed much? Vinnie thinks to himself as he makes his way across the store to the clothing section. Hope he has something in my size. Vinnie begins to peruse the clothes looking for enough to make himself another outfit or two.

What Vinnie is looking for:
Denim Jeans 25-60 credits
White T-Shirt 6-20 credits
Flannel Shirt 30-50 credits
Boots 140+ credits
Military Field Jacket 80-150 credits.
All can be found in the GMG pgs. 182-183

Vinnie's able to peruse the selection and walk away with one of each item (mostly second-hand, but in good shape), for a whopping three hundred and fifty credits. He stuffs the merchandise in his backpack after the sale is concluded.

Items added to sheet. Credits deducted.

Vinnie smiles as he tosses his new clothes in his bag. "Thanks Fenrick, always the best deal in town you are." Vinnie says cheerfully before making his way out of the building. Vinnie quickly throws his bag into the passenger seat of his car, before driving off to the Arms Bazzar.

Zzazz walks into the pawnshop. After taking a few moments to scope out the goods, Zzazz approaches the counter. ”Hello. I am looking for some music so I can learn to play it on my violin and a means to listen to it. Can you assist?” While the attendant answers, Zzazz looks for and retrieves his card.
He pauses for a moment ”And maybe some things to help toughen up my instrument for the wilderness.”

Zzazz finds the store surprisingly is open given the hour. Zzazz does clock a couple of unsavory characters leaning against the wall across the street. The red glow of a cigarette illuminating their eyes, all of which are following Zzazz. Once in the store Zzazz see's the owner behind MDC plate glass. "I got some sheet music. It will cost you though. Can you read? Oh well I have some audio tapes to the left of the counter. Bring me the ones you want." When Zzazz picks out the music he wants the owner chimes in, "I'll be a thousand for those tapes."
"Death may be a small mercy for some. Others come to me for the cure. Temporary or permanent I have it all."

Zzazz looks through the pile of old sheet music. ”Hmmm… Lets see here.” He uses his claw tips to flick thru the pages in their box. ”What is this? “Master Of Tides” By: Lindsay Stirling. Looks fun. Next?” He continues digging thru the pile. ’Oh?? “Despacito” By: Fonsi.. Also fun. Last but not least “Thunderstruck” By: AC/DC. Nice.” As he finds each, he lets out a small whistle. He returns to the counter. He places the sheet music on the counter, then proceeds to pull out random stuff from his bag. (( 7000 cr. BM items)). He looks up at the attendant ”I have some on this *shows card* if you need more *motions to stuff on counter* Maybe we can trade?” Zzazz will just wait to see what fellow says. ’Oh and no tapes. Thanks, i can read music.” He tries to show a friendly smile.

The man grumbles for a moment, "Of course you can read. Well sure we can trade. This is a pawn shop after all." The man separates out some of the BM items until he has 5000 worth in BM items. "There that will cover you for the music sheets." He then goes back to watching a small TV screen behind his MDC glass.

John pulls up to the Buyer's Market. He's hunting for knick-knacks and good but used tools and such, he can sell to stops along the road, and a sidearm he can carry inside the gates. His buddy Fenrick runs this place, and John's not one for new Iron anyway if his 300-year-old long arm is any sign. If there's a good price on weapons, John will buy a few for resale on the road.

A Wilk's or surplus Coalition pistol will do for him, and if he can get a package deal on more and the knick-knacks and tools, great.

When John walks into the Pawnshop, he hears the unmistakable skittering of Fenric the Fence. The shifty rat-man dealing with another customer who wants is selling an item for quick cash. John walks up towards the front and peruses what is behind the plexiglass display, looking for something more useful than any of the random items filtering about the rest of the shop. He finds several magical drugs locked behind a lock box, the coveted Elementum series. John can see several vials of each of the elementums. There are also several other magic based drugs locked but available on display. There is also a series of surveillance equipment available and several copies of the Wilk's 247 Hero Dual Pistol and one Wilks Pocket Laser.

When Fenric finishes with the seller, he turns to see John and opens his arms wide with glee. "Tch Tch! Johnny! What brings y-you back here?"

"Some iron, Fenrick. They won't let me carry my rifle around town and I guess I feel naked. Also, I'm a mercenary crew's personal shopper now. Maybe my old buddy wants to help me out with some of it and make a couple creds. I get paid on commission for now." John hands over the notebook open to the current shopping list on the page. If John found anything during his stay at the Swap Meet, it's already crossed off the list.

John does keep talking. "A few odds and ends for sale on the road never hurts either. I want one of the Wilk's Heros at least for me and I already have the money for that. First thing I'll buy with my commission is your magic drugs and surveillance gear. But let's talk shop."

John won't mention the Tech Warrior to Fenrick unless the Fence shows him something good.

Fenric listens to John with his curiosity piqued and snickers as John describes his current job as a Merc crew's shopper. "Tch, Same ol' Johnny! You're like me, you like shiney things!" When John hands over his list of mostly crossed off items, the rat man sneers and shakes his head. "'Fraid I can't help with the rings. But that Q1... maybe. Let me see..." Fenric scurries away and John can hear rummaging through the back room of the musty shop before Fenric returns with a black metal box with the Free Quebec Logo on it and opens it. "Preem, yeah. Q1, only fired twice. Tch, tch. This kinda iron you can't just find... what you offering for it?"
