History:

Born on the outer reaches of the Free World League (Rim Commonality), Susan Shane Leopold doesn’t know if he lacks paperwork and citizenship because his dirt farmer parents lost it, or didn’t bother to file it. What he does know, is his life was roaming the forests, followed by work and more work, until he was old enough to join the local region’s military.

On the first day of Basic Training his life changed. Drill Sergeant Gomez, “Private Leopold, did your daddy really name you Susan? Was he an idiot, or just an ancient music fan, you know, the Man in Black?” That night, after lights out, he squared off with 6 of his platoon mates. The good news, he put three of them in the infirmary. The bad news, he ended up in there with them. Either way, he was never called Sue again. Instead, he is JC.

Four years later another event would change the life of this up and coming soldier. A night out with the beautiful daughter of his Brigade commander, Colonel Madison. Too much alcohol. Too much speed and not enough control. The Court Martial found him responsible for the death of his girl, but by negligence, so time served, an Other than Honorable Discharge, and no Citizenship paperwork. The Colonel would never forgive him and continues to do everything in his power to make sure JC doesn’t forget it.

Two years later, JC continues to use his skills as a scout and tracker for anyone willing to pay. Well, almost anyone. He will work for the Free World Legion’s enemies, but won’t take a contract against his home region, won’t hurt innocents, and won’t touch alcohol. Beyond that, everything is negotiable.
