The BattleTech Dimension still conforms to the site pbp rules. Please ensure any new players to the site familiarize themselves with the basic rules of this board prior to submitting a character consept.
1. This setting is not like Rifts. This is a very lethal setting. Death of a character is very likely and can happen quickly. Unlike rifts there are limited options for protection of the character and weapons are quite lethal.
2. All measurements are in metric. Unlike the rifts portion of the site all the BattleTech measurements are in metric.
3. There are no “levels” in BattleTech. XP is spent on abilities/skills and such. Players will have two weeks to spend XP after XP has been posted to your Character sheets.
4. The BattleTech system uses 2d6...that's it. Nothing more. 2d6 for everything.

6. Terms and Abbreviations:
- AToW = BattleTech: A Time of War rule book
- MoS = Margin of Success
- MPT = Meters per Turn
- TN = Target Number (Base number needed for success)
- C = Action Complexity (How hard or how much time an action will take for a character)
- (M/B/E/X) = Melee/Ballistic/Energy/Explosive
- AP = Armor Penetration
- BAR = Barrier Armor Rating
- TP = Trait Points
8. See p. 402 AToW for quick reference tables. These tables cover everything from skills and traits to Abilities to combat.
9. JIC (Just In Case) rolls will on the player to decide if they wish to roll them. BattleTech has many rolls have many different ways to modify an outcome. Any required skill rolls will be requested in the prior GM post. Non dedicated JIC rolls will be limited to 4 per GM post. It is recommended to use contingencies for your JIC dice rolls.
Example: Sarah is in combat. She is wanting to shoot at her opponent. Sarah rolls for the attack. As a contingency Sarah posts If the enemy is able to close with in melee range Sarah includes rolls for Martial Arts defense and attacks.
