Glitch catalogs every inch of the Rogue, which to an organic may seem like a painstaking and tedious process, but not to the advanced intelligence. Reporting: No current threats found; established a baseline for operations on the ship. I will be able to identify future tampering much more efficiently. Glitch concludes. When Glitch receives the lockdown message regarding routine maintenance, the android's iris zeroes in. Query: What Maintenance? I have seen no authorized technicians. Who throws Thraxus's name onto a Maintenance Order. Glitch questions. Analysis: Croc; Rogues - Survived encounters with Raggedy Man. Thraxus denies us leaving, yet somehow we are no longer at risk. Conclusion: Raggedy Man is a secret employee of Thraxus. Glitch assesses, his new theory growing based on the given situation though Glitch recognizes he has no way to prove or disprove it yet. Glitch takes the time required to cycle through his installed programs, seeing as the ship isn't going anywhere and Glitch has other things to pursue.

Since the ship is locked down, Glitch revisits his project of finding a trustworthy Robotics Technician. My last attempt was a failure; I need to shift how I address organic shopkeepers as to avoid appearing unsavory. If Quince were still here, I would allow him to speak for me. Unfortunate more organics are not like him; they would be almost tolerable. Glitch reasons then finds his fellow Rogues before leaving. "The Rogue is temporarily locked down for Routine Maintenance under order of Thraxus. There is no time table on the report." Glitch states. "I am going to the Open Market on 3-B and will be reachable via radio. Good day." Glitch states, this time turning to leave without waiting to answer a question. Though if Glitch is stopped or someone wants to go with him, the android will begrudgingly wait.

Upon arrival to 3-B, Glitch is going to first look for Robotics and Power Armor locations, specifically ones that appear to be friendly or at least not outright hostile towards A.I.s; though not going into a specific one just yet; Glitch wants options. To anyone Glitch travels with, he will give them a succicnt warning. "Under no circumstances are you to reference or disclose my nature. That will be my decision." Glitch states and does not move or stop staring at whoever went with him until they acknowledge him. Though he has no tone inflection like normal organics, the pause and direct stare from the android should help get the seriousness of his point across. If he traveled alone, he instead searches for a public access computer terminal to search local stores.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

A Glitch in the System

With Glitch on his own the trip down to Level Three is relatively peaceful, and definitely quiet. The Level has it's usual bustle with both local folk and transient populations moving about. It's easy to guess which is which. As Glitch looks for a public info kiosk, he can see street venders hawking wares, food, and other rather mundane services. In the distance the larger business loom. After a short wait behind a few tourists hogging up one of the terminals, Glitch moves forward and begins his search. It's a little hard to get his specific search parameters, as most of the places do not mention their views on Artificial Intelligences. Glitch's experience tells him that most of the places based out of the CCW are right out, while the others are likely impartial, or at least not hostile.

Several minor franchises of the bigger companies are represented here, all save Naruni, who reasonably keep their products far from the Splugorth situated on level three. Most of the shops are in the area known as Wonder World, with the niche boutique style ones being on Center Street, Glitch can expect to pay out of the nose for anything in those particular shops, though he is certain any information about him would be sold to corporate overlords and such. Around the back end of the market are the less reputable, but still reputable enough to be on the upper levels, facilities. Three such locations come to his attention.

The first is a Ocano Robotics; A robotics workshop. It's online statement says they service Robots and Power Armors, as well as drones. The second is Vanlith Electronics, a electronics workshop. It's online statement notes it works on cyberware and bionics, as well as minor repairs on robotics systems. The third is Solari's, a technologist's workshop. The online statement says that anything technological is welcome.

Everything else on the list is generally not what Glitch is looking for, at least on level three.

Post

Glitch studies each of his three selections and whatever information is available about them on the terminal. Update Database: Ocano-3B.PWC; Robotics and Drone workshop; viable choice. Vanlith-3B.PWC; Minor Robotics, primarily cybernetics and bionics; doubtful. Solari-3B.PWC; A technologists workshop welcoming anything technological; Primary Choice. Glitch sets his optics on Solari's. Guile: Will act as a combat cyborg upon initial introduction and gauge their disposition. Ideally the location is empty and out of the way. Glitch logs and begins making his way towards Solari's.

Glitch will make a point to walk past both Ocano Robotics and Vanlith Electronics, even if it takes him longer or he has to double back, just to scope out the exterior of both and gauge their cliental. Intention: Will need to establish one of these two as back-up location should Solari-3B.PWC fail. Likely Candidate is Ocano-3B.PWC. Glitch will note anything important and record his walk past both locations before arriving at Solari's.

Glitch will first scan the location and it's surroundings, seeing it's foot traffic and the threat level of the area before entering. When Glitch enters, he will not immediately go to the clerk and instead walk the isles of the location slowly, looking at various product that may be on display. Analysis: Will the technician engage me first, or remain preoccupied until I approach them? Glitch doesn't have any expectation one way or another.

If he is approached, or Glitch ends up going to the technician, he will attempt to be personable. "Ah, hello. I'm new-ish around here and looking for a reliable robotics technician that isn't owned by one of the corporations. I've found I enjoy the care the smaller operations provide more." Glitch attempts to explain, running his hand across some minor scuffing on his arm.

A Glitch in the System

Glitch having done the basic search moves to do some more pysical legwork, approaching where the terminal says Solari's is. Nestled in the back row, sandwiched between a twenty-four hour
An eatery based around the vending machine concept.
and a clothing store. As far as traffic goes, none of the places seem very busy, with only mild foot traffic. Almost everyone Glitch sees walking around is unarmed and unarmored, which is pretty common on the upper levels. The storefront for Solari's, a plain brick building with a singular door and no windows, has a simple metal sign, with the name in Trade four, and to Glitch's surprise binary.

Glitch satisfied that it isn't some elaborate trap or other hazardous place, decides to enter. The shop is dimly lit, and cluttered with shelves of various technological devices. While there is a counter, it seems unmanned when Glitch walks in. A minute or two into Glitch's perusal of the bric-a-brac on the shelves reveals the first moving thing. A small drone like contraption, cased inside a human skull. A large ocular lens in one eye socket and a glowing red light in the other. It flits into the aisle Glitch is currently in, stops for a moment, and buzzes away towards the back.

Noises can be heard in the back room as something stirs. Another minute passes until Glitch senses someone else in the room with him. The figure is shrouded in a red hooded robe with white trim. If they were human, it is hard to tell with the amount of cybernetic and bionic enhancements they have. These are not the streamlined upgrades of most cyborgs, leaving the figure a gross mockery of humanoid, with puckered pallid flesh edging optical implants, and a grill-like speaker replacing it's mouth. It's limbs look like bare bones augmetics, but Glitch is certain that they're likely much more than they appear. Several of the skull drones follow the figure as it moves to the counter, prehensile mechanical tendrils occasionally snaking out from it's robe to move an item on a shelf as it passes by.

The figure doesn't approach Glitch, but seems to have made itself available to him.
Glitch wrote:"Ah, hello. I'm new-ish around here and looking for a reliable robotics technician that isn't owned by one of the corporations. I've found I enjoy the care the smaller operations provide more."
The being nods. In a very digitized voice it speaks up. "Welcome to Solari's, I am Solari Sigma-2B. I believe my shop meets all of your given parameters, but I assume you have more questions first. What may Solari do for you?" Solari says.

Glitch is unsure if his ruse is working or not, but it doesn't seem like Solari would care either way.

If the artificial intelligence could be pleased, it was upon the sight of Solari's and the welcoming message in Binary. Log: The display of Binary suggests they accent non-organic patrons. Glitch logs, suddenly finding himself feeling oddly more welcomed. He enters. When the floating skull drone appears in the isle with Glitch then promptly leaving, Glitch tilts his head and zeroes in on it with his iris while it leaves. Observation: Interesting; a drone encased in a humanoid skull? If the artificial intelligence could smile, he would be; the most creepily intrigued smile one could imagine, though his visor remains opaque. His attention is drawn to the noises in the back as he observes the hooded figure enter from the backroom. Glitch wastes no time approaching, still trying to maintain the guise of a cyborg.
Solari wrote:"Welcome to Solari's, I am Solari Sigma-2B. I believe my shop meets all of your given parameters, but I assume you have more questions first. What may Solari do for you?"
Analysis: Humanoid; heavily modified; still remnants of organic structure though heavily replaced with cyberware and bionics. Identifies as Sigma-2B; does this indicate a Sigma-2A? A Creator? Something like myself? Resignation: No point in continuing the guise; must establish if this unit is an ally or not. Glitch begins the process of analyzing this Solari Sigma-SB as it speaks to him and coming to the snap decision to drop his guise.

"You may address me as Glitch. I seek two things." Glitch begins, his previous demeaner dramatically changed and far more artificial. "First; A safe location that will modify and repair an artificial combat chassis, among other tools, without fear of discrimination." Glitch states. Pausing only long enough for the first parameter to be understood before moving to the second. "Second; a skilled programmer capable of creating new skill packages for a negotiated price or trade." Glitch pauses. "If you cannot provide the second parameter, it is acceptable so long as the first parameter is met. Is this within your capabilities?" Glitch finishes. While Glitch waits for Solari's answers, he initiates the backup process of escaping the location should hostilities erupt.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

Az Rael sits alone in his room sulking and frustrated. How could something so old remain such a secret. Someone somewhere has to have answers. We need a way to neutralize this thing the next time we encounter it. He settles on the fact that he has exhausted his attempts to find incidents from the past, creatures that may resemble him or any lore that might help the rogues.

He takes some time to review his armor and make sure it is in good working order. With his night suit destroyed he considers finding an armory to buy a new one and maybe some new weapons as well. He makes his way to the ships interface with Center's network and searches for possible locations he could procure armor and weapons. He is less concerned about anonymity as he doesn't anticipate buying anything that would cause alarm. Once he finds a place that looks like a good potential, he heads that way.

A tarlok walks into a bar on level 12 - this isn't the set up to a joke, or if it is it is not a particularly funny one, because every bartender knows that tarloks (even ones not named Pertinax) are unpleasant patrons - and sits at a discrete corner. It is not a particularly reputable establishment, but it is not the the worst place to drink on this level. Heck, by certain (less discriminating) standards this place could pass for nice. They do serve nice beers. It has waitresses. Degenerates, but better than automatons. When one walks up to his table the tarlok simply says, "I would like to see the boss."

The waitress gives him a cold look. He's not the first patron to immediately ask to see the bar's owner. But usually they will order a drink or even some fried food. They will have some sort of pretense for being here; they will not be pricks about it. Pertinax doesn't need a pretense. In fact he better have a good excuse for even showing his miserable face in this bar after the last time he was here.

The dursok owner strides to the table flanked by two security drones. He looks down at the Pertinax. The twerp. The only reason he looks so imperious is because you are seated. Stand up and let us see how tough he seems, even with security. Pertinax doesn't let the owner say a word, holding up a credstick. "50,000 UTC. That should cover my debts plus interest."

If Solari Sigma 2-B is surprised by Glitch's ruse, it doesn't show. As a matter of fact, Glitch notices that any and all scans in Solari's direction come up as a blank spot, as if he is a void in the universe. A unusual noise emits from Solari's speaker grill, a sort of static-like staccato, it takes Glitch a few seconds to realize that Solari is chuckling. "I believe we can make arrangements for all of your requests. Again I query, what can Solari do for you?" The man machine hybrid says once more.

Az Rael, or Alex as he is known to his friends... companions... associ... Az Rael is not sure what the true nature of his relationships with the Rogues is, and a lot of this has to do with the often times paradoxical nature of himself. He is a chameleon of sorts and this leaves him without close personal attachments. The cruel nature of his upbringing. Alex ruminates on the recent events, but the very thought of it, causes a mild headache, so the Sunaj Shadow Assassin decides to look for a new spare suit of light armor and maybe new weapons, a practical endeavor.

Using the ships access to Center's Ultra-net, Alex peruses where to go to buy armor, and finds the answer muddy at best. By his estimate there are over a thousand purveyors of armor in Center alone. Add to that the idea of weapons, a vague and broad topic, the number jumps exponentially. The search is long and tedious when one doesn't have a clear goal in mind, this is complicated by sophisticated and very annoying pop-ups by the largest weapons manufacturer in the Three Galaxies, Naruni Enterprises. Alex can tell that he could just throw a dart on either Level Three or Level Four and likely would hit a place that sells weapons.

Pertinax

The former Tarlok Dreadmaster known as Pertinax, finds himself back down on Level Twelve, trying to make amends, or at the very least tying up loose ends. Pertinax has been here before, and has done a disservice to the place. A few things seem different, but not out of place in the bar. The furniture has mostly been replaced with seemingly sturdier built goods, and a mountain of a humanoid sits quiet vigil near the bar's main entrance.

When Pertinax makes his request of the Waitress, she sighs and walks away. She doesn't even get back to the bar before the Slug-like Dursok comes out from the back. Pertinax can see the mountain of a bouncer shift at the bosses arrival.

The Dursok's brow furrows. "Oh, is that so?" The alien says in a lowborn drawl. "I don't think it is... I think money to you means nothing so just handing it out doesn't show me you've learned anything." The Alien says.

POST

Alex decides to just take a trip down to level three feeling a walk and some window shopping would do him some good. His hope, the distraction could help him let go of recent events. The thought of Raggedy man watching him plagues his mind and he finds himself watching everything around him. He could be watching right now. Recording me. Or considering a way to toy with me even now.

Shadows in the alley seem to move and catch his eye constantly as he makes his way to his shopping destination.

Once on level three he walks around window shopping for what might be available. If he sees something that piques his interest and availability, he will stop to discuss pricing with the shop. If not he will continue shopping, admiring the wares and trying to let go of the feeling of being watched.

Items he would be interested in
  • NE-CW20 Camouflage Variable Armor
  • NE-CS1 Cermalyte Black Nightsuit
  • Out of Phase Field
  • GR-15AR Assault Rifle
  • PB-85 Blast Rifle
  • NE-101 "Popper" Mercenary Multi-Rifle

From Az Rael's background... During the mission something went sideways, Az Rael missed a secondary target in the room. This target ended up getting the drop on Az and during the struggle his mother was critically wounded. In a rage Az Rael ended up killing both of the targets before they could complete their interrogation. Rhea sent Az Rael to retrieve a talisman left in their transportation outside. As soon as he got 20 ft from the building it exploded. There is no proof but to this day he believes his mother completed the ultimate sacrifice and activated her explosion tattoo.

What if the mother is alive... What if he catches a glimpse of her along the way, triggering him to use his downtime to try to find out if she survived?

I am proposing this as it would include some work on your end too.

Pertinax scowls at the dursok bookie. As if sluggo here has any right to claim a moral high ground. When have you ever met a loanshark that ever saw an interaction as being anything more than transactional?
Dursok bookie wrote:"Oh, is that so? I don't think it is... I think money to you means nothing so just handing it out doesn't show me you've learned anything."
"I value the talisman more than I value the credits," Pertinax replies, "just as I imagine you value order in your establishment more than my continued patronage. Lesson learned. Now if I can have my talisman back I will promptly fux off and we will never see each other again unless one of us thoroughly angers the wrong mobster."

A lonely shadow
Az Rael

Alex wanders the streets of Level Three first, as most of what he is looking for can be found on this level. Compared to the lower levels he's been frequenting as of late, the upper levels are clean, brightly lit, and generally devoid of what most would consider dangers. This doesn't stop the Sunaj Shadow Assassin from jumping at literal shadows. It doesn't take long for Alex to find what he thinks he needs. If/when he finishes his purchases on level three, Alex will need to make his way down to level four to hit all of the Naruni outlets.

NE-CS1 Cermalyte Black Nightsuit 12,000

PB-85 Blast Rifle 22,000

The Dursok doesn't make a move to do anything Pertinax expects, he just shifts the chair opposite of Pertinax aside and takes it's place. "You mercenaries think just because we live in the refuse, that we don't understand the societal niceties of those on the upper levels. You came into my place and decided to throw a fit, breaking my things, you had to leave that trinket as collateral. Now you come in here acting like you're in charge demanding I take what scraps you have to offer, and give you back the item. Not even an apology." The Dursok says surprisingly calmly.

"I think you're gonna have to do a bit more than just step in here and make demands to get it back... And before you think you're gonna go on another rampage, I will tell you the trinket isn't in the building, so you'll never get it back that way. I think to get it back you're gonna need to do some manual labor for me. Oh you're still gonna pay me as well, but that's just the price of doing business." The Dursok says, surprisingly he doesn't seem to show the usual emotions that someone in power would, to Pertinax it triggers a deep seated memory of his youth, and teachers he had before the military took him.

"I will have you work the bar for one week, eight hours a night. I think you'll learn to keep that temper in check when you're responsible for the location." The Dursok says, pausing to hear what Pertinax has to say.

Alex finds some items of interest on the 3rd level and finalizes his purchases. He gives the clerk the location of the rogue for delivery as he suspects that Center's security would not appreciate him carrying the items home. After wards he makes his way down to level 4 to see if he can find anything else. Az Rael is presently surprised by the selection of items Naruni has to offer and makes a few purchases there as well.

After settling up with the clerks and making sure all the deliveries are secured, he decides to find a place to sit for a minute and just enjoy the day. A cup of coffee maybe, it isn't often life offers me the time to relax. Taking the opportunity, He looks for a place that offers outside seating so he can do a bit of people watching.

If Glitch cared to express outright satisfaction with the discussion so far, he'd be smiling at Sigma-2B. Initiate study of Sigma-2B: Seek to confirm if unit is actually an intelligence or not. Log all interaction for discussion with Ultrix. Glitch processes swiftly before responding. "I have two goals with my visit today. First; There are several physical modifications to this chassis I wish to pursue. To start, integrating an external forcefield emitter internally to run off the internal power supply." Glitch states, holding out his forcefield. "Other projects we can discuss during future meetings. I would supply parts as able, credits as able, and services as able in payment." Glitch explains, putting the forcefield back.

Glitch begins, allowing Sigma to consider and respond before continuing. "Second; if it is within your means, I aim to allow you to canabilize various skill packages I provide or purchase from you to create new, more focused packages for my efforts. We would begin with the restructuring of the Military Communication Packages; Basic and Specialized; and create the Advanced package." Glitch finishes. Pausing briefly before adding. "I recognize this may not be accomplishable in one visit." He adds, his two initial requests laid on the table, he would see how Sigma reacted.
What happens when a being designed to follow orders and programmed to kill eliminates those they served? Who is giving them the orders now? Scariest version; they are.

Solari Sigma-2B takes the proffered Force Field in one of his clawed hands. A few moments of examination later, Solari sets it down. "Force field integration is possible, and to be honest routine. This project should only take me an hour." Solari says, Glitch can sense the disappointment in the technicians tone.

"Going to need more specifics, the nature of automaton programming is really limited to data storage, so if you are expecting a super package I do believe you will be disappointed." Solari says as his mechanical tendrils move of their own accord, pulling data wafers off of shelves.

GM Note: I am not sure what modifications you are trying to make for the program package, so I would like a rundown of what you would like to happen. No guarantees it will, but it gives me something to work with.

Force Field Integration will run Glitch 35,000 credits. ~Consumer

A lonely shadow
Az Rael

Az Rael finished shopping finds a small coffee shop off the main thoroughfare. A few more credits later, Az Rael has a cup of steaming hot coffee in front of him. The street is certainly quieter than the main run, but not devoid of foot/motor traffic. Az Rael spends some time watching the people walking by, lost in thought. It's at some point during this musing that Az Rael notices a data disk sitting next to his coffee, something that wasn't there the last time he took a sip. A quick look around reveals nothing out of place, but still the evidence is clear someone or something left the disk there.

GM Note: I will get the items added to your sheet soon. ~Consumer

Paranoia immediately sweeps through Alex's body as he tenses up. What the hell?! he wonders to himself. His face pales as the blood drains and his face goes blank of any emotion. Standing quickly, he scans in all directions again. How is that even possible? Alex steps out a bit in each direction trying his best to see if anything looks out of place.

Settling on the fact he completely missed this disk being delivered he sits down again looking at the disk confused and concerned. Raggedy man? A bomb? The cause? Having so many clandestine versions of himself leaves him clueless and wondering if he should even touch the damn thing.

If they wanted me dead, I imagine I would be. Didn't even see them leave this. Wouldn't have seen the knife. Alex reaches out causally sliding the disk off the table. I could be instructions. Alex chastises himself, Dammit, making such a scene. A cleanly delivered message like that. What is wrong with me?

Alex slips the disk into his pocket and take another look around to see if he has actually caused a scene. He finishes his coffee and drops a tip on the table then gets up and leaves. This could be urgent. He decides to make his way back to the Rogue to see what is on the disk sooner than later. I guess my shopping spree is over.

Once he is back at the ship, Alex makes his way to his room. He closes and locks the door. Taking out his computer he puts the disk into the computer to see what is on it. Let's see if I have new instructions.
